... what?

Would this be the Christians that started the whole Holy-Land mess, the Christians that murdered most of Constantinople, the Christians that think Condoms are actually helping the spread of AIDS, the Christians that were behind the KKK, the Army of God or the Concerned Christians?

Or those with slightly more extremist interpretations of the bible such as the Westboro bunch or Branch Davidians?

Christianity's fucked. It's arguablly the worst of the lot. Let's not forget that the Islamic world used to be known for it's honour and chivalry in the ancient days of Salah ad-Din. Things haven't always been as they are now.

Ah yes, of course

they do have freedom of speech. look at abu hamza etc

Abu Hamza's in frickin prison.

Has he been deported to America does anyone know? I remember they were trying

Go look up anti-Semite in the dictionary, lest you embarrass yourself further.

I wouldn't trust the dictionary definition

I think the true/old definition is hating or being against anyone from the region around the Dead Sea (or maybe the whole Middle-East). Now I think it says it's just hating Jews but that is not the case. I think a semite is anyone from that whole area around Israel/Palestine.

Religion shouldn't be viewed as important at all in my opinion as I'm an atheist.

Well Atheism shouldn't be viewed as important at all in my opinion as I believe in a Creator. :D

Christians have much better idealologies than Muslims though and that are much more realistic to our current society.

In Spain when Muslims ruled there, Christians, Jews and Muslims (and anyone else there) all lived in total peace together. They even invented the frickin guitar! Then along came some Christian group (not sure who) and we had the Spanish inquisition where anyone who wasn't Catholic was getting strung up and tortured. They ruined a great society for a long time.

Same when Muslims ruled Palestine before the Crusades. Jews, Christians and Muslims were great friends and lived in peace. Then along came another Christian army. Even before 1948 in Israel they all used to live together happily

Karim, it's a load of hoo haa over nothing!! If load speakers cause noise pollution or people don't like it, it doeasn't matter, the congregation at the mosque will and can still have there prayers!!

It's vaisakhi (the Sikh equivalent of Xmas, and if you drive near the holiday inn, you will see a massive Sikh emblem (Nishan Sahib) in between 2 double edged swords, and for me it's wonderful site, and i'm so glad that the council and public allow it!!

Leicester is probably more accomodating to religions and religious virtues then most city's and I have never seen it as a problem. But it's a knowledge and understanding sort of thing, the natives may see it as a infringement on there 'british' values, but by conversing and interacting they will see that we all have the same sorts of values and understand the meaning of why such virtues are followed, eg the Nishan Sahib, is held as high as possible on SIkh Temples, it's a sign of sanctuary, aid, and freedom. So people, whether black or white, of any faith, in any trouble can get a safe haven, it's there to show from a distance for those that are hungry, ill, in need, that there is a place for you to come!!!

I remember when I was younger, St Georges Day was celebrated, the queen's anniversary, royal weddings, but these days there seems to be a lack of support or interest in celebrating anything!!!

I also always thought people and the mainstream media made a mountain out of a molehill. Loudspeakers in Mosques is the least of our worries in today's society.

I can honestly say I've yet to meet a non-Muslim who complains about the noise made by the loudspeakers. Or maybe I don't know people like Blabyfox who reads the Daily Mail :dunno:

I think everyone is prejudiced in some form or another. Just read this forum and you will soon find out that if you read The Daily Mail (yahoo news  ) you are branded an idiot.

Blabyfox, I realize you are young and naive, but when I made this topic I actually had people like you in mind. People like yourself who have already made their mind up about an individual before said individual have even said a word, all because they are Muslim, Sikh etc.

Its OK, as you grow older you'll get to meet loads of people from different cultures and faiths and you'll look back and think what was the whole fuss about. ;)

I know what I just did lol

But when you read the Daily Mail and their daily crusade on certain groups, it's hard to take them serious.

Edit: He actually said he got all his info from Daily Mail, did he not?

Oh yes, every Muslim thinks that way don't they? Nothing like a good stereotype is there?

Of course they don't but with the Muslims' constant emphasis on religious/idealogical instruction - and desire even for segregated Muslim schools - plus the perceived responsibility that many muslims believe they have to spread the word of Islam throughout the world, there is huge scope for stereotypical opinion among Muslims.

a) What's wrong with Islamic schools? There are Catholic schools as well - If one wishes to his kids to a private school, then it is none of our concern.

b) If Muslims wanted to "spread the word" then we are doing a terribly bad job - We're not exactly the flavour of the month at the moment are we

Christianity's fooked. It's arguably the worst of the lot. Let's not forget that the Islamic world used to be known for it's honour and chivalry in the ancient days of Salah ad-Din. Things haven't always been as they are now.

The Abbasid Caliphate, the third Islamic "reign" replaced the Arab Ummayad Caliphate in 750 A.D. when they slaughtered the Ummayads near Jaffa in Palestine. They in turn were overtaken by the Mongols, Persians, Turks, Christians and finally completely ruled by the Ottoman Empire from 1298 (end of the last crusade) until the early part of the 20th century. Atrocities were not the prerogative of Christians, although very good at it; seems to be a human trait.

Did I say there was anything wrong with them? For anything to be deemed "wrong" would depend on what the school was trying to achieve and whether it worked or not.

a) But are you going to tell me that Islamic Schools and Catholic schools exist to encourage debate and the fair consideration of other ideologies. Private schools as such have nothing to do with private schools for pupils of a particular religion. Are you arguing that an entirely Muslim environment doesn't encourage people towards a certain religious viewpoint?

b) Progress may not be without setbacks but it is remoreseless. Muslim influence is growing and will continue to grow in many parts of the world even as we speak.

Well the first wave of Islamic invasions of the Indus valley was around 700 AD as I remember, and they were very brutal. In one attack they killed over 40000 men and put there heads on steaks, burned over 1000 temples, and captured over 10,000 women for there harems!!!

Stop pussyfooting about it, and just say what you think Islamic Schools teach its pupils. Either way, you are wrong. I went to Madrasah twice a week after school when I was a kid. By your logic, I should be indirectly forcing or encouraging (or whatever you wanna call it) people to join the Islamic faith with a certain religious view point.

Muslim influence is growing. So you reckon Muslims will have the entire globe on lock down by 2050? <_<
