MarkDeVries Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 Thank **** its finished. Though the right act won, I couldn't stomach anymore of this show.
lcfc_jme Posted 31 May 2009 Posted 31 May 2009 My sister competed in a dance contest against Diversity once. True story. Saw their transformers routine thingymajig before last night. Epic stuff. As for the show itself, I didn't watch it, just knew they won and wanted to produce a very poor claim to fame.
Guest Posted 1 June 2009 Posted 1 June 2009 So the pressure got to Susan Boyle in the end! The Beeb keep banging on about this story. I personally think the woman should be left alone.
Darkzzz_ Posted 1 June 2009 Posted 1 June 2009 So the pressure got to Susan Boyle in the end!The Beeb keep banging on about this story. I personally think the woman should be left alone. Sure did. I think the whole public could see something was wrong. Especially her annoying dances when she went through. I couldn't take anymore of it. But I seriously do hope she gets the help she needs, I really believe she is beyond help though, I didn't even know she was 48 until yesterday.
James. Posted 1 June 2009 Posted 1 June 2009 I love to watch people of exceptional ability and tonight's show was packed with them.Good luck to the public in choosing a winner because you could make a case for lots of them. I'm already looking out for a saxophone. I could die happy if I ever produced a sound like that. Truly inspiring. Diversity too. Some of tonight's acts relied on other people's ideas and material but Diversity were a right up-to-the-minute act with transformers-type choreography that was not just imaginative and talent stretching but refreshingly different. Entertainment is all about making people feel uplifted, happy and inspired and so many people tonight had that effect. I fail to understand criticism of the show. Only one thing really matters for an entertainment concept and that is that people want to watch it. And the show has attracted millions. Normally I can take or leave television but I was happy to watch that. Of course some of the acts in early rounds made me cringe and there was an over-abundance of corniness at times. Together though they served to make people talk, they made a day to remember for veryone who took part and they helped to build up the drama and expectation. There will always be criticism but I could write a long, long, list of positives. I won't because no-one would thank me for it but whoever thought the show up deserves every accolade. And so do the judges although why they chose to daub such a lovely lady as Amanda Holden in make-up God only knows. It looked hideous. She's far too attractive both in looks and personality to need all, if any, of that gunge. Spot on Thracian. Haven't said that many times before, but it's deserved for that. If Julian Smith doesnt win theres somethign wrong with the world. To be honest while he's clearly a talented guy the song he chose was more about emotion than actual technical ability. He's a competent saxophone player and there are hundreds of them. Diversity were deserved winners.
Libertine Posted 1 June 2009 Posted 1 June 2009 Sure did. I think the whole public could see something was wrong. Especially her annoying dances when she went through. I couldn't take anymore of it. Sure she's weird but she's hardly a nutjob.
lou Posted 1 June 2009 Posted 1 June 2009 She was starved of Oxygen at birth apparently and has learning difficulties and is prone to rages (as are most women at certain times of the month!) shes fine in her village where everyone knows her and makes allowences for her extreme behaviour but now shes out of her comfort zone and doesnt know how to cope with the environment shes found herself in. I think its quite sad and do feel shes being a tad exploited. Her being admitted to a clinic already shows she cant cope with all this. She'd probably be happier without all the money and back amongst people who understand her and look out for her. I am wondering where all her family are at the moment? If she was my sibling Id be taking her home with me and looking after the poor sod.
Darkzzz_ Posted 1 June 2009 Posted 1 June 2009 The hells wrong with her?Sure she's weird but she's hardly a nutjob. I think you answered your own question.
Libertine Posted 1 June 2009 Posted 1 June 2009 I think you answered your own question. Not really. I'm weird but I'm not insane. She's just not used to it obviously and re: the dances etc, I image she was just quite excited to be getting some recognition. Been blown way out of proportion.

I am weird too and I agree that she is obviously not used to it. But she you can see plain as day she really needs some help, she just doesn't seem with it at all until she sings. Anyway, that is what I see. Hope she gets better she sure has talent. Just not my cup of tea.

I know what your saying. When I said "Beyond Help" I was just implying that at her age and the life she has lived it could be difficult to help her adapt to this new found fame. I thought I was a schizo once. Turns out I was just addicted to Caffeine.
Big Ol' Bob Posted 1 June 2009 Posted 1 June 2009 It took Britney Spears about 10 years to reach the stage of getting sectioned. SuBo did in a matter of weeks. I think we all know who the winner is...
Webbo Posted 1 June 2009 Posted 1 June 2009 Someone on the radio this morning said that she was expected to have a number 1 record in America soon.
StanSP Posted 1 June 2009 Posted 1 June 2009 Someone on the radio this morning said that she was expected to have a number 1 record in America soon. Is it a Scottish rendition of Amy Winehouse's rehab?
Ultra Posted 1 June 2009 Posted 1 June 2009 Someone on the radio this morning said that she was expected to have a number 1 record in America soon. I bet Simon Cowell sees more of the money than she does. Susan's sad fate proves that reality TV poisons, corrupts and infects anything and anyone it comes into contact with.
Ultra Posted 1 June 2009 Posted 1 June 2009 Only one thing really matters for an entertainment concept and that is that people want to watch it. Here speaks a true media hack. Let's not worry about the possible damage to the participants, eh? I hear in some parts of the world, TV companies screen live executions and attract audiences beyond ITV's wettest dreams. How long before this happens in the UK?

Have we reached the point on here now where common sense caveats have to be written in every post? Thrac is right in general, although i do think that Susan is more likely to get rich suing Talkback Thames than by singing.

She is well known worldwide so when she releases an album (she has already been signed by Simon Cowell), the album will sell millions worldwide not just sell in the UK. Can't see here getting £5 million+ of talkback thames. They are probably short on money in these economic times anyway.
James. I thought my girlfriend was always exaggerating ("Oh my God James, it's HUGE!" for example) but you take the biscuit. Firstly Boyle was clearly a bit mental anyway. Few days in The Priory and she'll be back to "normal". Secondly how can the fate of one person prove anything? I hope for your sake you just say stuff to get a reaction as oposed to actually meaning it. The irony is that you have a go at Thracian for his "media hack" opinions. Yet your sensationalism is worthy of the very worst tabloids.
l444ry Posted 2 June 2009 Posted 2 June 2009 Cowell Confirms 2010 'Britain's Got' Series Sausage-factory TV talent impresario Simon Cowell has insisted that there will be another series of 'Britain's Got Issues', despite controversy and problems in the run-up to this years' Final. The 2009 show, which saw a 10-year-old girl suffer an on-stage nervous breakdown and a Scottish spinster turn into a gibbering loon, was watched by 18 million ghouls and voyeurs across the nation, and Cowell has insisted that there's more to come. Cowell, 76, told journalists, "there's so much more to come from this concept. I'm confident we can have at least two more successful series here in the UK. Britain DOES have Talent". Speaking from his solid-gold hotel suite while being attended by oiled eunuchs and being fanned with huge palm-leaves made from £50 notes, Cowell added, "I'm sure that next season we can find a couple of genuine schizophrenics, at least one bipolar and a Tourettes sufferer, and I'm hopeful of seeing Britain's first on-screen suicide before 2011. And for me, this show has proved that Britain is hugely talented - Britain's talent is to make me vast quantities of money". This years' runner-up Susan Boyle was unavailable for comment, as she was busy testing straightjackets and Largactil at the Priory.
