edd Posted 15 April 2009 Posted 15 April 2009 The way I see it, if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem. So on the odd occasion that I'm able to make a home game I'll find my way in to L1, stand up, and sing. Boycotting home games will do nothing when all's said and done. I hate the way Filbert Way looks and feels on a matchday as much as any nostalgia ridden fantasist, but if people aren't even willing to make the effort to turn it into a half decent ground, then it never will be. The simple fact is that if you're the kind of fan (like myself) who wants to go to stand, sing and create an atmosphere, the club aren't exactly clamouring for your business. So for every one of that type of fan that decides to boycott home games, the club will just redouble their efforts to find a prawn sandwich eater/Chelsea Dagger lover/kiddie wearing 'Big Four' merchandise to take your place. That's the truth. Filbert Way is what you make of it, if you don't even bother to try and change the place, it'll never happen. Hwo can you say that the atmosphere is crap. Family stand ......well mabye. How can you say dat me and teh other K1a boys dont make an atmosphere. We dont even sit own all game
Guest Posted 15 April 2009 Posted 15 April 2009 You're such a muppet. I don't come to the 'Way because I've been, repeatedly, and not enjoyed my "Matchday Experience, in conjunction with Women and Children everywhere, sponsored by the Fratellis". Oi!!!!!! Yes, indeed. Oi!

MC Prussian Posted 15 April 2009 Posted 15 April 2009 I'll give it a shot. Yes, the Walkers is six, seven years old. It's a relatively new stadium and will probably remain in the shadows of Filbo for a longer time to come. It's not easy, with all that emotional ballast and the 111 years of history attached to the Old One. Yes, the atmosphere has mostly been crap at the Walkers. The inaugural season we spent in the Championship, got promoted to the Premiership with a little bit of luck and against the odds and went straight down afterwards. Deservedly so. You could say that it was the best two years for this new venue so far, regular gates of between 25'000 to 31'000 in the old Division One, against such football superpowers like Rotherham or Grimsby. Even more fans in the Premiership season. But after that, not a lot to cheer about. The enthusiasm soon faded. Relegation. The threats of administration. The fear of losing your own club. Championship. Yay, Championship. No more prawn cocktails. Four dubious years of consternation. Dull years. Not a lot to cheer about. Also, attendances dropping aren't helping the cause - the average gate drops down to about 23'000 to 24'000 and around 21'000 in 2005/06. We're not getting any further, not even in the cup. Fans' expectations still high, demand for an immediate return to the Prem the logical consequence. But the sportive success cannot be reproduced, financial endeveours remain fruitless. Big names and even bigger unknowns alike are signed for ridiculous amounts of money. Frustration grows. Bad decisions on all levels, top to bottom. Then the drop to the third tier in English football for the first time in club history. 120+ years of a proud and strong institution down to its knees. Not really a lot to cheer about. Still more than twenty-thousand true football fans showing up for each home game. And you may ask yourself: are we all masochists? I can see why the fans have something to complain about. The past few years weren't pretty, rather massively disappointing. But where do you start making it better? By not complaining. Now, one cannot stop moaning completely. I'll moan when I feel like it. You will. Others will. But remember that you as a fan, in conjunction with the team, make the biggest difference. And as others have already stated, playing in League One has reinstated a common sense of pride and passion. Now, obviously, it all boils down to a little bit of luck and dedication, as the appointment of Pearson, his signings and his tactics have done the club nothing but good. Better decision are being made. Financially and on a sportive basis. It is quite a strong display of fan commitment when even in these troubled financial times, more than 25'000 people make it to a big enough stadium somewhere in the middle of England for a game against Leeds and I, having been a part of this wonderful day out, can but congratulate you all on your effort. When you look at it, compared to the previous year, with an immediate return to the Championship, there are indeed happier times ahead again. Then again, I ask you - how far shall it go now from here on? Would you rather remain in the second-best league in England, than playing the massive teams like Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United? You choose your own scenario. Views will differ, and we'll probably moan some more about it. So, what can YOU do? I say YOU, as I can make it to only a few home games a season. But I'll firmly stand against anyone laughing at me for supporting this club outside of Leicestershire. At least I've had the honour of seeing the team I love actually play for real. YOU, as regular followers can do it. Make it out amongst you, contact the club. The new song played before the game is one sign of this attitude. YOU can be loud when YOU want to - Easter Monday was a living proof. But, excuse me, criticising others because they criticise the lack of atmosphere is plain silly. YOU can make a difference. Be loud and proud - BLAARMY! I can only guess wildly and hereby claim that even at Filbert Street, it took a few years to build up a steady support. Keep that in mind. See it in relative terms. Be glad this club still exists and that it's enjoying such a success at the moment. Be a part of it and play your part in it. Now and in the (near) future.

Rich Fox Posted 15 April 2009 Posted 15 April 2009 I loved filbert st but no good looking back. I thought we created a decent atmosphere in the kop for once against Leeds and I am stilll a bit horse now, ive also discovered I can stand on top of the railings in front of the stairs without falling off. Really like the song heroes for foxes i think its called, they played it before the game but only when most people were coming through the turnstiles. That should be played as our main song just before kick off and we do need a couple of new songs something not too fancy but is a Leicester song. Anyway to repy to your post the walkers does not have a bad atmosphere.
lou Posted 16 April 2009 Posted 16 April 2009 Yes, indeed. Oi! And thrice Oi!!!!! Nothing wrong with women being there! Much as I dont care much for annoying little brats.... we need the kids to be going to be the next generation of fans!
Dr The Singh Posted 16 April 2009 Posted 16 April 2009 The poor atmosphere debate bores me alittle, for me the fans react to the team, the team show great passion and desire the fans usually respond, although this season because the fans were so expectant, unless the team were performing like a porn star on viagra the atmosphere in many quarters was alittle mute!!
Corky Posted 16 April 2009 Posted 16 April 2009 Oi!!!!!! Yes, indeed. Oi! And thrice Oi!!!!! Nothing wrong with women being there! Much as I dont care much for annoying little brats.... we need the kids to be going to be the next generation of fans! Calm down dears, it's only an opinion
carterfox90 Posted 16 April 2009 Posted 16 April 2009 the atmosphere in the kop on monday was electric best i have heard it for a long while but as usual we could not hear l1 or the leeds scum that well

Manwell Pablo Posted 16 April 2009 Posted 16 April 2009 The Walkers is wank, end of story, knock it down. Either that or keep jumping up down during games to the poorly built piece of shit falls down.
Fosse Boy Posted 16 April 2009 Posted 16 April 2009 the atmosphere in the kop on monday was electric best i have heard it for a long while but as usual we could not hear l1 or the leeds scum that well Isn't that a contradiction in terms? L1 was great on Monday, but Leeds' fans were on another level.

lcfc_jme Posted 16 April 2009 Posted 16 April 2009 Oi!!!!!! Yes, indeed. Oi! And thrice Oi!!!!! Nothing wrong with women being there! Much as I dont care much for annoying little brats.... we need the kids to be going to be the next generation of fans! T'was said in jest about the club's mentality and marketing policy. I don't mind women being at the game. Some of the women I've met at the footy are brilliant and in most cases better than some of the lads I go with!
Rich Fox Posted 16 April 2009 Posted 16 April 2009 believe me,the atmosphere in general at the walkers is wank... but could be good (like most of these new grounds, the acoustics are amazing), but everyone's still spread out - L1/K1, the 'kop', N block - if everyone were all plonked together, it could be alright... Yes your right but were back to the moving the kop, away fans and no how dare we alter where the away fans sit or change anything that would be impossible surely !
Flynny Posted 16 April 2009 Posted 16 April 2009 Dunno if anyone's pointed this out but from the front page: Today, 11:02 PMIn: Why the Walkers has such a poo... By: Rich Fox Tee hee, poo.
Fosse Boy Posted 16 April 2009 Posted 16 April 2009 Yes your right but were back to the moving the kop, away fans and no how dare we alter where the away fans sit or change anything that would be impossible surely ! But it's not up to the away fans to be moved so the home fans can create an atmosphere is it? The onus should be on those who want to cheer on City at home to find an appropriate place to do so with like minded people (such as L1/K now for example). The Kop is meaningless. As a stand, it's part of a bowl and as such has no character. Its name is arbitrary, the only thing it has in common with the old Double Decker at Filbo is that it faces the same direction. If people in "The Kop" (I'm talking about the majority with regards to this, I recognise that some people do make an effort in that stand) wanted to stand up and sing or move ends, then they would. But they don't, because "they don't want to get the sun in their eyes" (from what I've heard).
weluv Posted 16 April 2009 Posted 16 April 2009 is your 'kop' where everyone sits down and doesn't sing? The only way you'd get hoarse in there is from an overhot coffee. Your ground as no atmopshere whatsoever, and just two bunches of schoolchildren either side of the away fans try to make some noise. As for your 'heroes for foxes' lmfao-a Billy joel parody? FFS, this is why you're plastic.

Instead of posting on here go back to WACCOE and have some dick sucking over Leicester and your famous atmosphere/club/history/tealady/managers/ballboys/anything about your shitty club over there.

Nothing you said could be argued against because nothing you said elaborated a position of any kind. Now, why don't you go back to your fellow xenophobic Leeds fans on WACCOE.
