Fact that Derby, Coventry, Forest and WBA will be tasty games next season and we won't have to go to Southampton, Charlton or Norwich either 10

Champagne all round!

Just back from the pub...

Stockdale 7 - Couple of good saves, one dicey moment fumbling a shot

Morrison 8 - My man of the match, playing out of position he gave it everything, rarely looked out of place, and maybe this could be his position in the future?

Mattock 6 - Still looks shaky to me

Brown 7 - Generally solid

Hobbs 7 - same

Gradel 6 - Not really his best game, but who cares really

Oakley 7 - should have been sent off probably, but did a lot to link up the play, some nervy passing in first half though

King 8 - As ever seemed to cover virtually every blade of grass

Dyer 7 - Great free kick, solid in play, but generally had two markers every time he got the ball

Fryatt 8 - Worked hard without Stevie, 2 great finishes

Dickov 6 - It is only a one year contract? Worked hard but looks past it.

Subs:

Hayles 6 - For comedy value

Others not on long enough

Pearson 10 - who really thought we'd go back up as champions

Southend 0 - Miserable negative team I won't be sad not to see next season

The ref ? Let some incredible fouls on our players go, didn't send Oakley off, gave us a pen others might not have done? What was that about?

Apparently not. Year two going to be of dubious value, I fear. Although he did win us the penalty today.

He was just the latest in a long line of utter incompetents we've had to put up with in the middle at our games in league one. Crap referees is just one more reason why promotion is such a good thing. He gave the penalty just because it was right in front of the City fans, I thought, while he didn't ever notice Fryatt getting chopped, which happened three or four times in the second half.

Stockdale 7 - Solid, commanding and very assuring.

Morrison 7 - Played really well today and didn't look out of place at all.

Mattock 6 - The weak link again. Wasn't at the races for the first 60 minutes, but still played his part.

Hobbs 8 - Sign him up. Awesome.

Brown 7 - Timely tackling, and excellent in the air.

Gradel 6 - Inconsistent today, but always a danger.

Dyer 7 - Finishing the season how he started it.

Oakley 6 - Poor in the first half, so many misplaced passes, and lucky not to be sent off, but once we took the lead, he took control of the game.

King 8 - Was everywhere today, worked his bollocks off, and gave every last thing he could for the team.

Dickov 6 - Was always a pain without making any real impact, won the penalty.

Fryatt 7 - Two goals, awesome workrate. Still could release the ball a lot earlier.

Hayles 6 - Nice little Cameo for King Barry.

Got to be honest and say we didn't play very well today, except the centrebacks. Take the points and run back up the M1 for a party, lads.

Stockdale 8 - Several important saves, especially at the start of the second half. Good distribution, bearing in mind the lack of Steve Howard.

Morrison 7 - Increasingly secure at right back.

Mattock 6 - A little more confident than the last couple of games, but still off the pace going forward.

Brown 9 - A man mountain. Every ball into our penalty box seemed to collide with WB's head. It's true that he can only pass backwards, but who cares?

Hobbs 8 - Excellent, again. Sign him up!

Gradel 6 - Quiet, until the final whistle. Deserved a 10 for his dance in the goal, but I'm guessing we should rate the game not the celebration.

Oakley 7 - The occasion seemed to get to him, but once we were in front he got a lot better.

King 8 - He's here, he's there, he's every-fooking-where, Stevie Walsh, err, Andy King.

Dyer 7 - Not quite up to the Leeds performance, but then too many passes were three feet over his head.

Fryatt 8 - Also got a lot better after the penalty. And that was well taken. Good reflexes for the second goal.

Dickov 6 - Greg said "why does Dickov spend the whole game talking to the referee?" Yeah. Shut the fook up, Dickov. Could (used to) try harder.

Hayles 6 - No impact, but the contest was finished by the time he came on.

Pearson 10 - job done.

Blue army 10 - I didn't see anyone sitting down during the game at all. Bit worried when the woman in front of me arrived at 2.45 sat down and got out a copy of the Times. But, bless her, she immediately ripped it into small pieces to throw up in the air when the players came out. Noise levels were great in that enclosed shed, and the best rendition of WYS I've heard since we were in the premiership.

We did what we needed to do.

Never thought, after Peterborough, that Pearson would ever go with a Dickov-Fryatt strikeforce.

But he did, and it paid off! :o:o:o:o

Stockdale 7 - Looked Steady throughout. Couple of good saves

Morrison 8 - Don't think I've ever rated him above 7 before but he was excellent yesterday. Man of the match

Hobbs 7 - Mindless hoofing, especially in the first half, but did his defensive duties well.

Brown 7.5 - Similar to Hobbs, but tried to use the ball more productively.

Mattock 5 - It's a shame to give a 5 in a game we won 2-0 but his performance in the first half was symptomatic of a dire half of football. Has gone backwards in last 18 months.

Gradel 7.5 - Constantly got in great positions, if only his crossing was better. Worked hard.

King 7.5 - Lost the ball a little too often in the first half, but was excellent in the second. Should have shot when he burst through.

Oakley 5.5 - Don't want to be seen as an Oakley-hater, but misplaced 5 or 6 very easy passes in the first half and seemed to get in trouble for some petulance in the second. Expected more responsibility to be taken by the captain on a day like yesterday.

Dyer 7.5 - Missed Leeds and Hereford so this was the first time I've seen him play well for ages. Looked dangerous and cracking free kick which led to second.

Dickov 6 - First time I've rated him above 4! Crap first half, good second. His positional sense on the counter attack was crucual in us getting the penalty.

Fryatt 8 - Brilliant to see. Mazy run deserved better before the penalty, which he took brilliantly, especially considering the miss against Oldham. Excellent reaction for header.

A brief mention for Bruno Berner - hasn't always played but he is always steady Eddie. Exactly what we needed in the last 10 minutes.

Pearson 7 - We won, he obviously stuck a rocket up their arses at half time but we were TERRIBLE in the first half.
