Podge Posted 23 April 2009 Posted 23 April 2009 I think it's a short term solution from a chairmen who cares more about reachin the premiership asap without regard for sustainable success. Keane won't last two seasons even if he's promoted purely because a manager cant get by on using fear as the sole motivational tool on his players. They will get fed up of it and they'll continously have a massive turnover in players each season which isnt very useful or the most likely he'll be gone, the man has a severe lack of people skills

The stock response to this news would be to wish him the best of luck, but I cannot bring myself to wish him anything but a speedy return to the dole queue.

Its going to be so tough to finish top half, let alone top six for us. We have got to make 2 fantastic striker signings, and a few midfielders, and a keeper, and a defender or 2.

That's the attitude We've just won League 1 by a healthy, and could still be a significant margin. Nige has been here for an entire season, just about to spend his second full pre-season with us and you've already seen how he's made the right signings to get us out of this league, and a few that could easily cut it in the championship. Stop worrying, we'll go into the season with a bit of momentum and a good team spirit and we'll give it a fooking good shot I reckon. (I wouldn't discount the fact that there'll be a few lower end championship teams concerned about playing us next season too)

A current mid-table berth in the championship is possible with 60 points. That's 6 points better than we managed last season. Does an improvement of just 6 points represent a successful season next year over last? I think not. We will be aiming high and I expect us to achieve that.

Sunderland's achievement was all the more remarkable as they gave the rest of the league a four-game start before Keane joined them.He had history with both Haaland and Clarke. Other players, including Stan Collymore, have stated what a nasty piece of work Haaland could be. Haaland's career was ended by an injury to his other knee, which is why, despite much media hype and bluster, he never took Keane to court. As the Ipswich chairman says, Keane is a proven winner and his record as a Championship boss is impeccable. He will make the club tougher opponents for us and the rest of the league. Some good points well made, Ipswich look as if they will be going places and I was simply saying that if we didnt have a manager who I was more than happy with right now, I personally would have liked to have seen Keane here. And as for next season, We will DEFINATELY need to strengthen quite alot, I went to Palace away in the Fa cup and they looked better than us, considering they are a mid table championship team (I think) that shows that we will need to improve. We will just need to add abit of extra quality IMO and I am looking forward to seeing who Pearson will sign and how he does next season very much! Anything lower than 8th-12th next season and i would be pretty disappointed to be honest.
