JakeShingler Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 Its weird how we really dont have a rival that see's us in the same light. Yeh very.
Sods Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 I can't stand Derby, Cov or Forest. Derby and Forest away is always a good away day. Cov has been dissapointing but I will still be there. I just can't wait for decent home games again!
PAULCFC Posted 29 April 2009 Posted 29 April 2009 To be fair i don't paticularly hate any of our local sides that much. 1.Forest.....more pity, still stuck in the clough era, remind me of Leeds a bit. 2.Derby....see above. 3.Cov...Got a cov supporter at work who say's they all hate Villa.....Bet Villa fans are bothered! But out of the 3 it's got to be Forest to prolong their misery!
lcfc_jme Posted 29 April 2009 Posted 29 April 2009 Forest v Leicester. Everyone who needs to come out and get smashed cabn stay at mine. I dpn't give two shits what the flat-mates say. My place is open incitation for this fictture next year. Yes then

Guest Basildon Fox Posted 29 April 2009 Posted 29 April 2009 The atmosphere of local derbies is one thing but I always feel that the more you have the harder it is to win promotion. Man Utd have Liverpool, Everton, Man City, Blackburn, Wigan & Bolton as local Derbies and they do ok.
C-man Posted 29 April 2009 Posted 29 April 2009 The atmosphere of local derbies is one thing but I always feel that the more you have the harder it is to win promotion. Well the last time we were promoted to the Premiership we had quite a few local(ish) derbies - Wolves, Forest, Derby, Cov, Walsall, Stoke. It can work both ways, win most of them and you can be challenging, a few bads results and you could be struggling.
Ultra Posted 29 April 2009 Posted 29 April 2009 The whole "M69 derby" thing really annoys me too, it's such a nothing tagline to what (for seemingly the majority of City fans) is a nothing game. Just a hyped up invention of Sky Sports as far as I'm concerned. The A47 derby on the other hand... Villa? Strange how they've not been mentioned yet on this thread. From the mid-90s onwards (stemming from the Brian Little episode) our rivalry with them has been as fierce as that with Cov or any in the East Midlands.
Manwell Pablo Posted 29 April 2009 Posted 29 April 2009 For a club with no real rivals we don't half make a big deal out of local games.
James. Posted 29 April 2009 Posted 29 April 2009 For a club with no real rivals we don't half make a big deal out of local games. My thoughts entirely. Ask Forest fans who they hate most - Derby. Ask Derby fans who they hate most - Forest. Ask Coventry fans who they hate most - Leicester? Therefore we should concentrate on Coventry, the only team who really seems to give a **** about us. Personally, I don't really care about any of them that much. It's hard to care about someone who doesn't really care about you.
Alexikokopops Posted 29 April 2009 Posted 29 April 2009 I really hate Covscum. This has been fuelled by living in Coventry.

And on several occasions (including last season), they've avoided relegation at our expense with points taken from us.. With any luck, next season will see THEIR turn to drop into League 1.

PSYCHO Posted 29 April 2009 Posted 29 April 2009 hello forest fan here. firstly let me congratulate you on your promotion from that awful awful league. it will be great to have us, sheepshaggers and yourselves all in the same league again......been a long time. personally i feel no hatred whatsoever to leicester city fc, and i think most forest fans feel the same way. its always going to be direby as our number one hate! even so i will be looking forward to taking my first trip to the walkers stadium.
Jiggers the Fox Posted 29 April 2009 Posted 29 April 2009 Looking forward to all these games apart from Cov. Bad memories of last years 2-0 defeat. Forest away will be my first away trip via a service bus!! Derby is a must on the train!

Yeah it would be nice to have a big reciprocal rivalry like most clubs do but you cant just invent feelings of hatred that aint there. Its clear the majority of city fans pretty dislike cov but dont despise them enough for it to ever be a classic derby. When you go to cov away these days the idea that this is supposed to be a big rivalry is fooking laughable. Yeah yeah its close so two away games a season sitters want to go blah blah blah and all these excuses but every club has that problem with their local games and yet their main local derby has always got the fieriest atmosphere of the season. Thats because even the most part time Blackpool fan fooking hates Preston or a corporate JCL Arsenal fan fooking hates spurs but what our fans feel about cov will never come anywhere near that even if we did all decide to ´concentrate´on them.

Coventry fans will probably say they hate Villa more than us anyway.

You and I are basically in agreement. All I'm saying is that our biggest chance of a rivalry is with Cov but even then like I said I don't particularly care about any of the them. And like you said it would never be a proper rivalry, just like our rivalries with Derby and Forest. It's too late for a proper rivalry, any that we think we have will always be a bit shallow.

Hopefully a thumping at Ipswich will send them into pre-season fearing the worst next campaign.

This. They had a reasonable start to the season, but without that they'd be well and truly in the mire. A bad start for them next season could start a sharp, yet hilarious, decline.
