Guest Bilo Posted 27 April 2009 Posted 27 April 2009 Tbh we seem to class Forest as are main rivals and they couldn't give two f**ks about us. Sadly, we dont have a main rival because no-one hates us back. Same with Cov. In deepest Lincolnshire, there were Forest fans who were pretty much jizzing themselves over the fact we got relegated. To the point where they seemed happier that we were going down than they were going up. The fact that they were in a higher division than us after three years was a source of great pleasure to 'em. When I went back over Easter, they were decidedly pissed off by our impending promotion. Trust me, they dislike us greatly.
Koke Posted 27 April 2009 Posted 27 April 2009 Coventry will always be Scum #1 - I grew up amongst them & Wolves fans. I barely knew any other sets of fans. Forest, yes I hate them but not as much as Cov.
Ozwin Posted 27 April 2009 Posted 27 April 2009 I went Nottingham a few years back and my mate was wearing a city shirt and we had people giving us banter and papping us in their cars and stuff. They definately consider us somewhat of a rival, even if it's not as much as we'd like to think.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 27 April 2009 Posted 27 April 2009 Personally I hope Forest come down and rot in this league.
BoneDog Posted 27 April 2009 Posted 27 April 2009 I certainly never considered Cov to be major rivals growing up, not least for the reasons posted above. Always about Forest and Derby for me. I'll never forget the feeling of being 4-0 up at Derby within 15 minutes in '97, I don't think that would have felt half as sweet at Highfield Road. One of the greatest away days ever. 1st ever game for Leicester at 'Pride' Park and I was nervous walking to the ground cos I thought they might do us! Never been so wrong. Was on the very back row and it was great lookin down on us all celebrating

They safe now though I think after Norwich tonight

Never been so wrong. Was on the very back row and it was great lookin down on us all celebrating Seeing the highlights after the game was classic, 20 minutes in and there were Direby fans trudging out en masse. If I remember rightly, all four goals came from either crosses or set-pieces. We were irresistible that day and Heskey in particular was unplayable.

If I remember rightly, all four goals came from either crosses or set-pieces. We were irresistible that day and Heskey in particular was unplayable. Spot on-ish. Four headed goals, not all direct from set pieces but the ones that weren't were half-cleared or poorly defended kicks. Just cleared out my VHS collection and transferred all the good stuff to DVD. Took 3 days to get past that Derby game, just rewinding over and again. Live on Sky, humiliating your biggest rivals in front of millions Andy Gray "Well, I just don't believe what I'm seeing here!" Us too! I was on that back row too, great view of a great humiliation. I said in another thread that I dislike them all equally for different reasons. For Forest, it's the superiority complex and the fact they've never moved on from winning the European Cup or the Clough era in general. With Derby, they've always been at the same level as us. Same sized club, sometimes mid-table, sometimes over-achieving and some of the midweek games we had in the 90s were classics. With Cov, it's the fact that we are their cup final and we always seem to do well against them. It never gets boring beating them because it hurts them more than it cheers us up, if that makes sense. Peterbrough's another close one but I don't see them as a derby, I'd be more excited by Notts County.
Mikey Posted 27 April 2009 Posted 27 April 2009 Looking forward to Forest the most, cloesly followed by Derby. Don't give a **** about Cov really, obviously I'd still like to beat them. My first away game was the 1-1 draw at the Ricoh, and it's been the worst away game I've been to. I think that says something about that ground.
Dr The Singh Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 Loads of local derbies next season, looking well forward to it, it's one of the major reason I bought a season ticket, to get my priority 3, wooohooooooo!!!
CosbehFox Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 Anyone whose had the duty to live/work within a 5 miles radius of Cov would soon change their mind. It's the only derby I have a connection with in the sense I know Cov fans and I have to visit the fleapit on a regular occurance. I'd love to them crumble. Villa are too far for them and Brum don't really care for them. It's just us now. Forest and Derby are all derbies by all means however. City v Forest, 2-2 at the City Ground was one of the most intense atmosphere I've been in. I'd also like to Boro a lesson too again! and Brum's feisty at St Andrews.
Darkzzz_ Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 From my own experiences it is Cov and Forest I shall be looking forward to the most. I hate Coventry with a passion. I think Richard Keys and his hairy hands plays a huge part in my hatred!
Fox92 Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 I enjoy Forest more than Derby and Coventry. But it will be nice to see where we all end up finishing. It will be nice visiting The Richo, The City Ground, Pride Park, The Hawthorns and London Road all in one season though TBH, I don't mind Forest and I like to see them doing well......... as long as we are as well!
Fosse Boy Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 Forest - Annoying due to their superiority complex plus the fact that the East Midlands media still seem to believe that it's season 79/80, and jizz themselves silly over anything that Forest do which is vaguely newsworthy. They only say they don't care about us to wind us up, but whether we're regarded as their main rival is a generational thing. A guy I know who supports them says his dad has always regarded us as the bigger rival, while he himself regards Derby as the main rival. That said, he told me he's looking forward to Leicester away more than any other game next season. Derby - Always considered them to be our biggest rival when I was younger, probably due to the fact that we were in the same division as the sheep more than we were with Forest during the late nineties. I personally dislike Forest more nowadays though, but still can't wait for Derby home and away. Peterborough - Possibly more of a derby for those of us living in South-East or East Leicestershire as it's a bit closer? Hopefully this will develop into more of a rivalry if they keep themselves in this division and we start playing them regularly. Coventry - Nothing club with chavvy fans who play in a crap stadium which I've no intention of ever visiting. I couldn't give a flying fuck about them.

Fosse Boy Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 The whole "M69 derby" thing really annoys me too, it's such a nothing tagline to what (for seemingly the majority of City fans) is a nothing game. Just a hyped up invention of Sky Sports as far as I'm concerned. The A47 derby on the other hand...
lilsmig Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 not been to derby but went forest and cov so im lookin forward to goin derby
phillip j fry Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 seems to be that opinion on who our main rivals are is dependant on age and location,go east to lincs its forest all the way
Koke Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 Are you from Tamworth way? I used to work there and there were loads of Cov and Wolves fans I'm from the Compton area of Wolverhampton and for some weird strange reason there was loads of Cov fans living there in the mid/late nineties. When we eventually moved to Leicester we lived in Hinckley where Cov have a bit of a stronghold there.
Thracian Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 The atmosphere of local derbies is one thing but I always feel that the more you have the harder it is to win promotion.

I have had to deal with a lot of abuse from Cov fans and some of the things me and my missus witnessed last season at the Ricoh was shocking and I'm not talking about our performance either. Coventry are a nothing club, but they have seen us as their rivals for a while now where as we have always seen Forest as ours and then Forest have Derby as theirs. My personal opinion is that I dislike them all but I would always have 1) Forest, 2)Cov and then 3)Derby in preference of hatred.
Koke Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 Derby are nobodies. I only dislike them because I used to have such a horrid time there when we played them. Some of the personal abuse me and my mum took on the way home from their ground back in the nineties was awful.
foxhound Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 Cov hate us with a passion and have for a long time. Back in the early 80s there was always loads if trouble from the Cov fans. I lived in Cov for 13 years the place is full of inbreds and halfwits. If the ground opened up and Cov fell in England would be a better place for it. Forest and Derby are always highlights for me but beating Cov really makes me smile.

purpleronnie Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 Its weird how we really dont have a rival that see's us in the same light.
