Leicester vs Blades 5/5/90

Not been able to watch the video but is it the game that finished 5-2? They made a tv programme that followed them all season. I remember a youngster called Gary Fitzpatrick coming on on & blasting a great shot just wide near the end. He was released that summer.

Its all coming back now, even in SK2 or 3 where i was it was full of Utd fans(wen it was supposed to be City),I remember i mate pointing out that the singer in The Beautiful South was stood right in front of us.

Wasnt there also a similar scenario with Newcastle at around the same time, when the took 8000 to Filbo?

Was that one of the games that ended 5-4 or 4-3?

Chelsea did it down here on the Hillsboro' day with 8-10K (although I went to the Scarboro' vs S****horpe game cus I couldn't get a ticket). Didn't Chelsea get 99 goals or 99 points that season?

Anyone at this game??

had this on video from when it was broadcast back at the time.

been hoping someone would put it on youtube for years

yeah - i was at this game. i was in the upper tier of the double decker and there were hundreds of blades up there - i mean it was pretty obvious to see who theywere of course because of mentioned away top...

they soon congregated towards the middle of the stand by stepping over barriers and moving seats... was quite a game... we were just not at the races that day and i think personally we were just outplayed..

the pitch invasion was quite funny as loads of their fans from the east stand invaded the pitch only to me met by a group of leicester fans invading the pitch too! couldnt of been more than 2-300 leicester fans on the pitch and at least a thousand of their fans that charged onto pitch.. then suddenly as they were both running towards each other they stopped with about 20 metres apart and stood there staring at each other for a while... apart from a numpty from each side that carried on running and tried to hit each other - quite funny actually.... lol.

No , Newcastle came here and stayed up on the last day with a 2-1 victory in Keegans early days . Geordies led 1-0 and Walshie equalised in 90th minute befor he then scored an OG to make it 2-1. Newcastle fans were literally standing 2 yards from the touchline in last few minutes.

In the end result didnt matter , Newcastle would have stayed up and City wouldnt have grabbed automatic promotion , instead competing in play offs before defeat to Blackburn in the final

Righty-ho! I went to that one but I read about this last week. Whoever the ref was for that game, has written a book. He said he blew up early for this game. *I think*

That would make sence , when Newcastle went 2-1 up there was a mass pitch invasion and we expected the players to come back out but they didnt .

Ah memories. It was wall-to-wall blades that day. You used to be able to mingle with your own lot as you came out from the South Stand but that day was just red & white and bright yellow everywhere you looked. I'd never seen us concede 5 at home but it was obvious from the kick off that the promotion party they were having wasn't going to be stopped. I imagine Southend felt the same a couple of weeks ago.

Thank's for the memories!I was 16 or 17 and in the paddock in the main stand. Also remember the Chelsea game on the day that Liverpool played Forest at Hillsborough......The tannoy said at half time that the game had been abandoned(This was before mobile phones and the internet.....So most of us assumed that the two sets of fans had started on each other. It was only when we got home that we knew the truth.
