Aside form the obvious reasons, this will be one hell of a tough league next year - Southampton, Charlton, Norwich, Leeds/MK Dons - ouch!

possibly not. they could go bust within the next week or so.

Wycombe

Exeter have looked pretty good this season and huddersfield impressed too.

I was thinking that its also going to be a tough year for us next season as its much stronger than since we left it - there will be more money for clubs too and more clubs with parachute payments!

It's been a while, what happens if they do go bust? aside from administration as in completely fooked?

Next year's championship is going to be really really tough with rejuvinated derby, west brom, newcastle, boro, wba, reading/sheff utd, palace and possible a strengthened forest. We'd do well to hit the top 10. After previous few seasons bit reluctant to believe we're good enough for the playoffs!

A winding up order would probably be served, the club cease to exist and St. Mary's would have to be sold. They'd probably have to restart in non-league as AFC Southampton or something, it's happened before but never to a club that big.

Yeah...and then what would happen...who would take their place in League One? And who would take that teams place?

I'm interested to know. :)

Milton Keynes could accomodate at least one more new club!

MK Saints :chant:

Fiorentina. Mind you there are less leagues in Italy.

If we're going to reach the Premiership again there's no way we need to start with an inferiority complex. Yes, on paper it looks tougher, but let those so-callled tough teams worry about us.

We've already got good team spirit, organisation, resilience and the core of a useful side. I just hope that Pearson doesn't allow sentiment to cloud his judgement and that existing players accept that they'll have to lift their game still further next season and will each doubtless face fiercer competition for their places.

I doubt anyone in the Championship will see their fixtures against Leicester as being easy. And having the most money from such things as parachute payments is not always the key to success. Some football people seem quite capable of wasting enormous sums of money.

So far, I don't think Pearson is one of them so I'm happy to see how he makes out before I talk the challenge of the Championship into being harder than might be the case in reality.

And as you (?) said previously, we are for the first time entering the Championship on a high. The relegated teams are going to have to deal with all the usual issues that come with going down, and we don't. We have to use that to our advantage and get a good start before they sort themselves out.

How strong is it both Campbell and Dickov last year found it easy to score for Blackpool allegedly one of the weaker teams

yeah, but if you look at results this seasons, these teams were all beating each other, everyone in the CCC is beatable on any given day.

recently relegated teams may have parachute payments but they also have overpaid unhappy players, playing in an inferior league - you only have to look at charlton, southampton and derby to see that these teams aren't necessarily going to be the real threats - the ones to watch are probably those teams in and around the playoffs this year, and quite frankly there is no reason why we should fear the likes of burnley and preston-

after playing in L1 our boys are gonna be desperate to prove they belong in the CCC.

Please dont mention that mob. I now live in this f-----g dump, and my step daughter is a fan. Aaaaaggggghhhhhh! PATHETIC.

You need to sort that shit out a bit lively!!

Teams who have played in the Premiership. Sh1t now though, I wouldn't be worried.

The biggest problem for relegated teams from the Premiership often centres on the huge turnover of players before the season starts. The teams that have been successful in recent years at bouncing back such as Sunderland, Birmingham and West brom have all been able to retain the majority of their squad without changing too much. Look at us, Derby, Leeds, Southampton, Norwich, Charlton etc - all clubs had made a mass of changes and it's often led to midtable mediocrity/relegation struggles.

Absolutely.

Strangely enough, West Brom would stand a better chance of promotion next season than the geordies or Middlesbrough, as they'd be likely to keep the majority of their squad together.

Posted

West Brom are just the ultimate yo-yo club. They have truly mastered the art.

I think Birmingham are running them close, though - FOUR changes of league in the last four seasons..
