I need help!

Have sold some shares and have promised the kids I'll take them all away abroad for a week or so in August.

Ive only ever been to Greece to the Island where my friend lives before (Summer holiday-wise) but we cant afford to go there again.

Am looking for somewhere cheap and cheerful but NOT too lively/full of chavs. Trying to do all inclusive and prob somewhere like Majorca/Menorca I guess. Spain seems to be the cheapest about anyway. Does anyone have any knowledge of a nice family type area/hotel theyve been to and had a half decent time?

Have searched the Net and found hundreds but Ive no idea wheres a decent area etc....would appreciate any thoughts?

Thanks

Unless you pay top dollar most AI hotels on the Costa Del Sol are full of chavs.

Try the Hawaii hotel in Ibiza-(I think you can book it through Thomson). I was in the hotel next to that last year and it seemed to be quite nice. I stayed there myself but that was 20 years ago.

Alternatively why not book flights and accomodation seperately. You can rent a villa for next to nothing these days so it really is the best option if there are a few of you going.

Last time we went to Ibiza we stayed here. It's within walking distance of the main drag (cut across the little bay, it takes miles off the walk). There were very few English people staying there, and the entertainment is dubious, but the staff are friendly, and the other residents no problem. Having stayed in the centre of San An before, I would choose this place over being in the middle of everything.

We booked direct, and got some cheap flights, and it was worth the money.

Seconded. We went to a place called Altinkum last year. Not much to do at night unless you're in an all inclusive hotel but the food is so cheap I personally wouldn't bother with paying the extra for all inclusive as it will probably double the price.

The people there are wonderful as well.

Get to the South of France my dear.

Id love to! Been to St Tropez with my folks when I was about 17 but I fear its a little out of our price range! lol

Hey Lou,

Turkey is a great bet for a good cheap Family holiday.

Been there a few times now. Marmaris, Kusadasi and Alanya.

Family friendly lively nightlife with lots fo places for cheap food and drink. loads of places to shop, plus theres always loads to do in the day. Boat trips, mud baths, water rides.

If you can find a good all inclusive deal you'll love it.

I have stayed somewhere nearby to there - Hotel Milord. Much the same recommendation - a lot of Spaniards on their holidays. The last hotel of the bay. Generally the S.Ant Bay is fine, the centre is an absolute madhouse.

The Sunset Strip is the place to be, but being older and tighter, we prefer to buy drinks from the supermarkets and sit on the beach. :P

The West End is horrible, but I love Ground Zero. I want to go there now. :(

Brazil was the best.

Barbados is too boring, Cyprus was alright, Cruising there's nothing to do, Spain was full of the sort of people you see on Benidorm, South Africa was good though; I went to where Nelson Mandella was kept in prison :D

The West End is horrible,

I was about 15 when we went Ibiza with two families. Spent 30 minutes in the West End. One drink and we were out of there.

I also went on an investigation into the drugs world via Spanish newspapers and walks with my Dad along the beach and Sunset Strip. I love recollecting holidays.

Parts of Ibiza are beautiful - I can see why a lot of celebrities have their villas out there.

I am going to sound silly but Aldi, yes the Supermarket, Aldi have launched a travel site and my extended family were looking at Turkey on that with good results.

However from what I could make out - the hotels were fine, the flights were less accomdating etc.

I enjoyed Brittany when I was kid, the beaches are fab. It's cheaper than other areas in France and doesn't get unbearably hot for young children. Getting there might a pain in the arse if driving isn't an option, not sure if there is an airport in the region. :dunno:

Get to the South of France my dear.

I miss the South of France, not been for a few years now. :(

Brasil and South Africa definately out of reach this year  Will save up to go back to the South of France next year I think. Have been remembering how nice it was. Port Grimaud is where we were just next to St Tropez bay. Gorgeous!

It's one of the few places where there really is something for everyone. Go down one street and it's chavs, go down the next street, and you're sharing a restaurant with Roger Sanchez and his hanger onners. Or if you're unlucky, Brandon Block.

OMG yes! We were at a big Euro Camp site. They were tents but very posh ones lol

Have some amazing memories............ and a very bad one of my parents and the parents of the other family we went, with getting pissed on Sangria and going skinny dipping - not the sort of thing you appreciate your parents doing when youre 17!

Chortle. Reminds me of him nudey with that z-lister Rivron Redsome'ut in Channel 5's 'Who wants to be a holiday rep'. Bumped into him outside the waterpark in Playa Del Bossa (that's the name ain't it) as it's next door to Space which is open for about 22 hours of the day. My cousins go Ibiza in September for the last week of partying. Normally spending 4 days completely free of braincells and the next 3 recovering.

Turkey or Morocco. It'll probably be more expensive to book but you'll spend a lot less when you're there. It won't be full of cvnts. Far more interesting stuff to do. Depends what you want though. When I went Morocco the only bars that served alcohol were either fooking steep or full of alcoholics and prozzies. That was in the cities inland though. Heard it's a bit more liberal in the tourist resorts on the coast.

Brandon Block rhymes with cock; I don't believe that this is coincidence.

We were in a bar full of beautiful people, where the drinks cost nearly 4 times as much as they do in the West End, yet he was running around on the tables hitting people round the head, and generally being a tosser. Sir Fynwy refused to have those programmes he did on the TV, so I am glad that I've missed it!!

We only went to Playa d'en Bossa once; we walked from Ibiza Town. It was bloody hot, even by my standards!! We didn't go to the waterpark though.
