Dan Posted 24 May 2009 Posted 24 May 2009 Me and my mates have been having a discussion on msn, there was 5 of us in the convo and I was the only 1 of the 5 that thinks Dyer's better than Gradel. Am I mad or do I need new mates?
Finchy Posted 24 May 2009 Posted 24 May 2009 Yeah Dyer is a better player, but you've got to love Maxi
Dan Posted 24 May 2009 Author Posted 24 May 2009 Yeah Dyer is a better player, but you've got to love Maxi Gradel is on the back of my shirt, I got it done after MK Dons at home this season and I swear its cursed him.
Thracian Posted 24 May 2009 Posted 24 May 2009 It's the wrong kind of thinking. Football teams are based on a squad system and we need both to be used regularly. As for discussing who is best both had an excellent return per matches played in terms of effect - either by way of goals or assists. Gradel has not had the easiest of times in a personal sense during part of his emergence and is, in any case, at the beginning of his career and still learning how to make the most of his unquestioned abilities. No-one I've spoken too believes anyone other than Gradel is the most individually skillful player in the first team squad but it's not all about that. There are other factors. Both have had lapses in form - Dyer for quite a time after Christmas - and it seems significant to me that he perked up when Gradel started providing him with propoer competition. Use both I say.
ha77y Posted 24 May 2009 Posted 24 May 2009 I think Gradel as he has a better consistency and is more 2 footed than gradel. And he is younger
spirefox Posted 24 May 2009 Posted 24 May 2009 Can't choose between them but don't think we can play both, especially in the Championship.Playing 4-4-2 with them two leaves us short in the middle. It was only when we played 3 centre mids ie brought Mark Davies in and played Oakley on the right that we really dominated games last season.
Matt Posted 24 May 2009 Posted 24 May 2009 I have a soft spot for both, I have Dyer on the back of my shirt.
scinnell Posted 24 May 2009 Posted 24 May 2009 Both but dyer just skins it, however gradels a quality prospect.
Cobbo Posted 24 May 2009 Posted 24 May 2009 I would say currently Lloyd (when in form) is the daddy. However, you can see that Gradel has the most technical ability in our squad and so if he can utilise that fully, he will be the better player eventually. 2 great players to have in the squad I must say and they can bloody entertain n all.
shiv Posted 24 May 2009 Posted 24 May 2009 I think Gradel as he has a better consistency and is more 2 footed than gradel. And he is younger so you think gradel is better than gradel?

Definitely agree with this. Dyer disappeared for a good chunk of this season and it's no co-incidence that when Maxy started to start games and get into form, that Dyer brought some of that early season magic back. Max is probably one of the most skilful players I have seen play for Leicester for some time, and with Dyer's blistering pace, I see no reason why we can't use both.
Jimmy Posted 24 May 2009 Posted 24 May 2009 Max will be a better player simply because he can play either flank, but as it stands Dyer is more effective
Stuliasz Posted 24 May 2009 Posted 24 May 2009 Max will be a better player simply because he can play either flank, but as it stands Dyer is more effective Paul Warhurst could play in any position on the pitch, didn't make him better than Alan Shearer though. Both are inconsistent in their own play and wingers in general are very inconsistent but based on performances this season I would edge for Dyer. Max certainly has the potential to be a better player over the coming years though.

Max certainly has the potential to be a better player over the coming years though. Can't disagree with any word of that, both have certainly been inconsistent. The main thing is though that when we needed them most in the last 5/6 games, both hit top form. If Pearson can try and work on improving their consistency then it shouldn't be a question of one or another, they should both play.
MarkDeVries Posted 24 May 2009 Posted 24 May 2009 Dyer, just about. Both are very inconsistent & both are very good when in form.
carterfox90 Posted 24 May 2009 Posted 24 May 2009 i think they both have great qualities & gradel has had to overcome some tragic personal problems earlier in the season & when he turns on the magic he is awesome the first game of last season against MK Dons i thought to myself we will do well to keep hold of this player he had a great game he is still learning & when he can finally sort out his crossing he will be a legend & the last minute freekick at the dons will live in the memory for a very long time kept our unbeaten run going as for dyer on his day he is outstanding & scores some great goals & when he wants to put a shift in we can not do without him but it was very worrying how he lost his form as soon as the cold weather came in & also worrying how nigel kept playing him for so long when it was obvious to all of us how poor he was playing & being carried by the team but did buck his ideas up when gradel started to come back into the picture so i did not vote as they are both great players & difficult to choose between
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 24 May 2009 Posted 24 May 2009 I cant separate them. Both good quality, and of equal talent.
demon_dog Posted 24 May 2009 Posted 24 May 2009 Each brings their own differing qualities to the team. Therefore I feel that they are of pretty much equal standing.
Fatbloke Posted 24 May 2009 Posted 24 May 2009 Bluddy stupid question as they play in different positions !!! simple answer BOTH.
