The score wasn't worse than Portsmouth.

Anyway, they have lost their unbeaten pre-season record. They will still win promotion this year and no doubt beat many teams in the division by alot of goals themselves.

Not saying much more as our results haven't exactly been great

Obviously a terrible result for Newcastle, but I wouldn't spaff in my grundies just yet.

Pre-season means very little ultimately, and they'll still be a force to be reckoned with in the Championship if their team can pick itself up.

I do agree with others though that if they fail to find a buyer or start badly, their situation could quickly turn into a carbon copy of Leeds.

With their squad they have to be the favourites but I really wouldn't put money on them. They have no manager, and still have an owner who is hated by thousands.

Unless they get someone in I can't see them doing too well.

If I was to put money on who would win the league, it would most probably be Middlesborough.

I have to agree that on the pitch their team is the best, but everything off the pitch is wrong. They need somebody with deep pockets, vast reserves of patience and skin like a rhino to ward off the impatient fans to buy out Mike Ashley. In the current economic climate, they could be waiting quite some time for such a saviour. God help them if they get off to a bad start, as that would almost certainly mean no more hope of a new owner as well as a player exodus in January.

I wouldn't really have a clue!

If I had to I would go for Sheffield United, but knowing my luck they would come 2nd on Goal Difference.

The previous thread is now in this one!

I was confuzed then because I couldn't find the Orient 6-1 Newcastle then found out that they had been merged

Mido is apparently leaving them, as is Tuncay.

So who's going to score goals for them?

Not bloody Alves that is for sure! He couldn't hit a barn door with a machine gun.

Their problem is they never score enough and I doubt they will this season either. If they do go up it will be like Brum did, nicking games 1-0/2-1 and having a good defence.

I hope Tuncay goes to a decent club, preferably in England.

Im sure it was Villa who were linked with him. Perfect MON signing. :D

Doubt it. They don't really need another winger.

Plus he's not English, so not the perfect MON signing :P

Little old but I heard a day or two ago that they were close to signing him. Also I wouldn't just see Tuncay as a winger more of a striker.

Doesn't need to be English to be a perfect MON signing. Got a Carew esque aura about this, can see him doing well at Villa. :P

Even so, with Agbonlahor, Heskey and Carew around, I doubt he'd play much. Rather he went somewhere where he'd be a regular.

It's more than the current economic climate that's putting off new investors Mr Bilo.

Read the blurb I put up earlier on Whelan's book :o
