I can't believe people are slagging off Owen when Ameobi has been taking a not insiginificant wage from Newcastle for very little end product for a few years now...

And Viduka didn't set the world on fire there, did he?

I have to agree with the fans this morning who were saying as long as Mike Ashley is at the club there will be no positive progress at all.

I really believe they could go the same way as Leeds, very similar situation with a chairman offering silly money to very average players without taking the necessary precautions in such events as relegation and its really cost them.

The best thing for everyone would be for Ashley to sell up, the man clearly has no idea how to run a football club, this clear out must start from the top down. The squad itself I think would do relatively well in the Championship under the right mangement, if they got a steady eddie like Alan Curbishley in for example and re-built. If they keep Shearer however it will all end in tears as predicted even before he stepped into the hot seat.

I'm not slagging him off :) , I am just sharing my opinion. If people don't like it then tough.

Football is a game of opinions , be boring if we all thought the same

You're not allowed opinions on this forum.

You're a twat, moan, a nob or don't know anything if you don't have the same opinion as other apparently, Not quite as bad as WACCOE yet though. :giggle:

I don't care really. I have been round here a few years now to know how it works on here. I am not put off by those with a different view, I don't take these posts to be with me at night.

It is all good fun in my eyes.

But no-one's going to buy from Ashley with the wage bill at its current level.

It isn't just the playing staff - there are hundreds of others on the payroll whose jobs are unsustainable without Premier League TV revenues.

Unless they get in serious money from player sales in the summer, administration is a real possibility for them.

I doubt whether Shearer would be able to motivate a side travelling to teams like Preston and Doncaster who will treat games against Newcastle as cup finals.

Curbishley is not available at the moment (apparently Sunderland approached him some months ago) as he's too busy with an impending court case against West Ham (another one.. )

But someone of his ilk would be the best bet, except they won't go there while the current regime is in power.

Indeed. Hence why they're down.

Owen is a target because you could put out an entire starting lineup for his wages, and he's been phoning it in for a while now. Nobody's arguing with Ameobi being shit, except possibly Joe Kinnear.

Seriously in the shit. Half of the players wont leave and will be happy collecting their large wage packet every week/month.

What did make me laugh was the media asking the Newcastle supporters who's fault it was for relegation.....all of them said

'MIKE ASHLEY'.

I dont know about you guys but he got rid of Allardyce like they asked, appointed the Messiah like they asked, appointed Shearer like they asked.....what more can the poor chap do? Granted he had his run-ins with the Newcastle heroes but come on blaming Ashley for relegation is a tad far fetched.

Damn right.

Those fans are who I blame.

Newcastle's fans don't deserve to be rated based on the same 10 jobless wasters who hang around outside St. James Park every day getting onto Sky, really.

As for Ashley, he's sold key players like Milner, Given and N'Zogbia, and the only manager he backed in the transfer market was Allardyce, briefly. His running of the club in general has been disasterous.

Not having appointed Dennis Wise to overrule Keegan would have been a start, and picking a replacement that wasn't Kinnear would have helped too, and waiting two months with no management structure in place before appointing Shearer wasn't the greatest of ideas.

Blaming a bunch of fans for disasterous ownership is touch unfair. If when we went down, someone blamed Mandaric for chopping and changing the manager, you wouldn't be taking the piss would you?

Which is why they needed Temuri Ketsbia when he was still the current season's 1-season-wonder.

To be fair it was his, and his board of directors, meddling and interfering that made Keegan resign which set the tone of the season.

It's never the chairman's fault.

Look at us last year. Mandaric changing managers had nothing to do with us going down

Seriously though I think lack of stability similar to us last season is to blame. I don't think coaches, players etc know where they stand and like shearer said the club has to be chopped and changed from top to bottom.

They are totally and utterly fooked.

No one will want to buy the club now, no decent manager will want to work with Twat Mike Ashley, he won't want to sell the club for a massive multi hundred million pound loss for him, so he will end up staying, and i can't see him keeping on their few good players on massive wages.

They are well and truly doomed, it's fooking ridiculous that they are 9/2 favourites to win the Championship, a total shambles.

Another thing is they all want Shearer to stay on and save them, he's the messiah, yet he couldn't even improve their results in 8 games in the Premier League, he couldn't even get them motivated and up for that final game against Villa when they only needed a draw.

I know they were fooked when he came in, but 5 points in 8 games from the so called 'messiah' is useless, and had they continuted that form through the whole season they would have finished on a measly 24 points and rock bottom of the league.

If he can't even motivate them against a out of form Villa side who didn't really have anything to play for, when they only needed a draw to stay up, how the fook is the messiah going to get them out of the most competitive league in the world where any team can beat any team and every team will be targeting a play off place or higher.

The fact is he won't be able to, and i would fooking love it if he stayed on, and as KK said, i would love it if they rotted in the bottom half of the Championship.

Shearer is not the messiah, he's not even a very good pundit on MOTD. Get back to your day job Alan in a comfy studio on a couch, because you, the god of Newcastle, couldn't even motivate Newcastle to get a draw in the final game of the season, you don't know what your doing!!! :chant:

And Iain Dowie is a fooking ugly troll.

Good luck Newcastle next season in the Championship, you will be playing the mighty foxes, and you will need it

Maybes has it spot on...

''outsiders'' wont come to work at newcastle because of the fans, sam allardyce found that out the hard way. Ever since Keegan went the first time has the fans actually given the manager time?

a club that got too big too quickly. i dont see the fans blaming freddy shepherd as they were a mediocre team when he was chairman! I for one feel a bit sorry for Mike Ashley, trying to do his best by the fans, in an altogether thankless task

Sir Bobby Robson was their last decent manager. They've been in decline more or less ever since they sacked him.

They will win the Championship with their eyes closed. Ashley will appoint Shearer as permanent manager this week, and they will have a mass clear out of playing and non playing staff. They are going to be able to attract the best players in the championship, plus some Prem drops outs and some high quality loan players. They are us last season.

Boro on the other hand are going to struggle. This crap about the youth system delivering is not going to materialise. Baggies to come second and Sheffield United through the playoffs.

I hope they are in deep shit. Can't stand the whole Newcastle are wonderful hype that the media portray. They haven't won the league in over 80 years and the FA Cup in over 50 years yet they have this ludicrous expectation. Burnley won the league more recently then them but no one is going on about them as a sleeping giant etc.

Please, do a Leeds.

could not agree more...why do we have to listen to all this bull shit about them all the time..they have a massive catchment area thats why they fill there stadium every week...ive got a video from the 80s us v them in the old 2nd div 13000 at there dump 3000 of them were from city where were all there fans back then....pathetic no wonder people despise them

Middlesbrough got a good and effective youth academy that have produced several good players.

On top of my head.

Stewart Downing

Lee Cattermole [now at Wigan]

David Wheater

Adam Johnson

Tony McMahon

James Morrison [now at WBA]

Matthew Bates

Apart from maybe West Ham, I don't any other academy in the country that has produced this amount of good players in recent times. And for that reason, I think they are better off than Newcastle who have a team full of big time charlies on massive wages.
