lcfc_jme Posted 28 May 2009 Posted 28 May 2009 well in a year that massive goals totals in the premier league have not happened even at the champions Man Utd Berbatov only scored 9 league goals and Rooney 12 so looking at that 8 goals in an injury hit season playing for an terrible team isn't that bad a return really Berbatov is lazy and isn't anywhere near the same player he appeared to be at Spurs now he's at United. He's had a very poor season by his own high standards, nobody will disagree with that. As for Rooney, he'll never be a boot-filling goalscorer, but he brings so much more than just goals to a team. Seeing as he's so often played out-wide and helps counter-attack, defend and provide assists for team-mates, his goals return is an added bonus. Reagrdless of what anyone will come on here and say to me about Michael Owen, I think he's way past his best and now he hasn't got the same amount of pace he once had, should really be considering his future at the very top level.

lcfc_jme Posted 28 May 2009 Posted 28 May 2009 just stating that a player like Berbatov playing in between the likes of Rooney and Ronaldo two of the best providers in world football only managed to get 9 league goals compared to Owen playing in a rubbish side with little service scored 8Owens biggest asset was his pace and no he looks to have lost that he will certainly need to adapt I agree that Berbatov, certainly for his price tag and then for the players he's surrounded by, should have scored more goals and attempted to justify the hype given to him. Though he's always too lazy, and really doesn't play high enough up the pitch to score more goals. He bring balls out the sky and feeds in his team-mates (when he can be arsed, that is) as opposed to being a bit more greedy/ruthless. I take nothing away from what Owen has achieved in his career - in his prime, he was one of the best strikers in the world. To score 8 goals in that Newcastle team isn't a bad return at all but like I said, without his pace and given his lack of height and recurring injury problems, his future at the top level looks extremely bleak. He strikes me now as a middle-of-the-road Premiership striker, whereas before he was a nailed-on top 4 finisher.
Ultra Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 Most of them are. FIFTEEN of the squad are on £50k+/week. If they're still around come September, Ashley will have to dig VERY deep into his pockets..
Finnegan Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 I was sat in the Barber reading some article in one of the tabloids that had a list of Newcastle's wages and it was ridiculous. If even half of them were accurate they'll have to lose a majority of the squad. And anyone expecting them to survive on the merits of their fanbase are seriously delluded. Say what you will about Leeds, their fans are loyal and have stuck with them through relegation as far down as League One. Their attendance and atmosphere for the home leg of the play off was impressive - I don't care who you are. Newcastle won't get that. The North Easterners are the single biggest group of fickle hypocrites in football. The Riverside and St. James' will be ghost towns next year, especially if they don't start too brightly.
James. Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 The Riverside and St. James' will be ghost towns next year, especially if they don't start too brightly. The Riverside was a ghost town this year, it's going to be absolutely fucking dire next year.
demon_dog Posted 9 June 2009 Posted 9 June 2009 Don't all rush at once to place your bid on EBay The club's owner and management are becoming bigger clowns everyday. I know that being a Newcastle fan that you have to be a bit deluded, but for them to hear this must leave even the most diehard fan looking on in disbelief at what is going on. What next? Maybe a lottery to sell the club.
Edmund Posted 5 July 2009 Posted 5 July 2009 The fans are recommending players to the management now. Newcastle United gaffer in-waiting Alan Shearer may have some help from the fans when signing players Here is the list of the 43 The Bleacher Report http://bleacherreport.com/articles/212196-...nifesto/#page/1
Samilktray Posted 5 July 2009 Posted 5 July 2009 I actually feel sorry for the way the media portray Newcastle fans now. Been on alot of forums recently where Newcastle fans have been members talking about how there nothing like there made out to be when it comes to demanding success.
Edmund Posted 5 July 2009 Posted 5 July 2009 Joe Mattock (Leicester City) Matty Fryatt (Leicester City) Both on the list.

Ultra Posted 5 July 2009 Posted 5 July 2009 Even once the takeover takes place, they'll still have to sell before they can buy.
Edmund Posted 6 July 2009 Posted 6 July 2009 Even once the takeover takes place, they'll still have to sell before they can buy. Martins and Coloccini are the main ones due to the amount there earning.
Ultra Posted 6 July 2009 Posted 6 July 2009 Martins and Coloccini are the main ones due to the amount there earning. ...along with Duff, Bassong, Gutierrez, Barton, Butt and anyone else still on £50k+/week...
Jam Posted 6 July 2009 Posted 6 July 2009 Martins and Coloccini are the main ones due to the amount there earning. Colocinni whatever happened to him eh? I remember him being half decent at one point regular argentinian international, allbeit coming off the bench. But he was terrible at Newcastle.

Jam Posted 6 July 2009 Posted 6 July 2009 Gutierrez is still in the argie starting 11... Starting 11? Hahaha no way ! No wonder Argentina are 4th in their world cup qualifying group.
