Radovan's Caravan Posted 7 July 2009 Posted 7 July 2009 Be interesting to see whether NUFC go into administration under the next consortium or the one after that (preferably whilst in Division One and whilst still under the divine stewardship of the one of the most over-rated footballers your country has ever produced). Be interesting also to see whether former owners and profiteers Hall, Shepherd & Co pick up their old train set for a song at the car boot sale and then get the Toon rent-a-mob dancing and singing to their tune again. Just as they did behind Ashley's back to bring the club to its knees. (Yes, I hate Newcastle. But I hate all English clubs except yours. Quite why this is I don't know. Maybe I felt sorry for you after Red Star knocked you out of the UEFA some years back. Their Ultra's behaved very badly that day - you don't bring politics to football matches. In any case, most Voj fans wouldn't piss on Red Star if they were on fire - sorry Uncle Ted!)

Radovan's Caravan Posted 11 July 2009 Posted 11 July 2009 Rumour has it that Shearer is miffed that Joey Barton has been allowed to resume training with NUFC and is ready 'to quit' (as if he has a job there anyway). Bad news for Arkan's boys that. I had Alan down for a relegation double. Those 'passionate' Geordie fans are hedging on their season tickets though. So Hall, Shepherd & Co will be secretly rubbing their hands at the prospect of administration (nothing quite like picking up those shares at the very bottom that you dumped at the top eh boys?). And here's to Leicester having a highly negative impact on the Toon's goal difference.
Radovan's Caravan Posted 25 July 2009 Posted 25 July 2009 For all those who want to get to the bottom of NUFC's demise: Dave Whelan is threatening to lift the lid on Mike Ashley's business antics. The JJB founder is preparing to launch an autobiography Playing To Win which claims to be “a combination of sporting memoir and business blueprint from one of football's most outspoken chairmen and the British High Street's most successful entrepreneurs”. The publishers are also promising the sort of clash that ended Whelan's footballing career on the turf of Wembley — a tackle which prompted him to go into business with JJB and subsequently extend his business interests to taking control of Wigan Athletic FC. Playing To Win, says Aurum Press which publishes the book next month, has Whelan “tackling head-on his long-standing rivalry with Sports Direct and Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley”. Whelan is known as an outspoken character who rarely pulls his punches. This tome will of course only take you half way to the truth (a little further if you read between the lines). You'll only get (close to) the full picture IF Ashley gets in his riposte and that would be a most interesting development if he does. Because contrary to what the Geordie ****** would have you believe Ashley is far from being the villain in this piece...
Jay Posted 25 July 2009 Author Posted 25 July 2009 Good result today it was basically a full strength team as well a shocking performance
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 25 July 2009 Posted 25 July 2009 it was basically a full strength team as well a shocking performance They had Barton, Nolan, Martins, Taylor, Beye, Smith, Krul and more of their first team on show and lose 6-1! Can't wait for the season and I think WBA will stuff them in the first game.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 25 July 2009 Posted 25 July 2009 They'll be in the premiership next season. Well I wouldn't bet on it but you might well be right.
Vlad The Impaler Posted 25 July 2009 Posted 25 July 2009 They'll be in the premiership next season. Doubt It. West Brom, Middlesborough, Sheff Utd to go up
Ultra Posted 26 July 2009 Posted 26 July 2009 They'll be in the premiership next season. Don't bet on it. Right now they could easily do a Leeds - especially as most of their players will want to leave as soon someone's available to deal with incoming bids.
Basingstoke Fox Posted 26 July 2009 Posted 26 July 2009 I said when they went down that I doubt they will go up, if that proves to be the case and they don't go up before their parachute payments end. They are royally fooked!

Right now they could easily do a Leeds - especially as most of their players will want to leave as soon someone's available to deal with incoming bids. I go along with that. The Championship appears to be a 'dog eat dog' division. Many teams will now sense weakness and will raise their game against them. They are there for the taking...
davieG Posted 26 July 2009 Posted 26 July 2009 Newcastle United impose embargo on player transfers• Championship club will not sell players until the club is sold • Up to seven senior players threaten to hand in transfer requests Alan Smith is one of the players who will not be allowed to leave Newcastle until the club is sold. Newcastle United are doing nothing to reduce their £65m annual wage bill and have taken the extraordinary step of placing an embargo on any transfers until the managerless Championship club is sold. Considering that sources close to on-going efforts to sell Newcastle have indicated that Mike Ashley, the owner, may not find a buyer this summer, this represents a high-risk strategy. Even if Ashley does succeed in this ambition, the most optimistic estimates gauge a takeover to be around a month away – in other words perilously close to the closure of the summer transfer window. "There will be no players coming or going until the takeover has been completed," said a senior Newcastle source. "There will not be a firesale and it is up to the new owners and manager to decide who comes and who goes. "The transfer market does not really get going until August and Newcastle will not be doing any business until a buyer has been found. It is all on hold." Alex Black, the agent of Alan Smith, who is coveted by Blackburn Rovers, has already experienced this policy in action. "Newcastle United have put a sort of embargo on players moving in or out of the club until the situation is resolved in terms of ownership," explained Black. "So what can you do until that is sorted out? It is in Newcastle's hands." Up to seven senior players are threatening to challenge this embargo by sumbitting written transfer requests early next week if Alan Shearer has not been installed as Newcastle's manager. Shearer remains "completely in the dark" about events at St James' Park and is deeply concerned that Newcastle are missing out on opportunities to both offload players unsuited to the rigours of the Championship and recruit those possessing the pace and toughness required during the impending campaign.
C-man Posted 26 July 2009 Posted 26 July 2009 All this fannying about really won't do them any favours. I'd be seriously depressed if I was a geordie (if I wasn't already).
Webbo Posted 26 July 2009 Posted 26 July 2009 Doubt It.West Brom, Middlesborough, Sheff Utd to go up Why do people keep saying this?
Flynny Posted 26 July 2009 Posted 26 July 2009 Why do people keep saying this? Nucleus of hungry young players. I'd say playoffs personally but they won't struggle.
foxoffderby Posted 26 July 2009 Posted 26 July 2009 They lost 6-1 to Leyton O yesterday. Glad were playing them early, they are in big trouble. They could do "Leeds" if they dont put their house in order soon.
Samilktray Posted 26 July 2009 Posted 26 July 2009 Ive never seen such an overreaction over an away kit, which isnt even that bad. Fucking media.
Edmund Posted 26 July 2009 Posted 26 July 2009 Newcastle United impose embargo on player transfers• Championship club will not sell players until the club is sold Nothing new there, thats been the case all summer.
Anish Posted 26 July 2009 Posted 26 July 2009 Depends who they get as manager. If Shearer stays I can see them underachieving. In any case they'll be the team everyone wants to beat and won't take the league by storm.
