Finnegan Posted 28 May 2009 Posted 28 May 2009 He's very good, yes, but I'm not entirely sure he's underrated. He may have been a little bit overshadowed by Messi this season and by the controversy surrounding Barca last year, but generally speaking I think he's a very well known quantity.

Point i'm making mate, is not one of the big boys came in for him when he was available last summer. Which is strange for a consistent goalscorer. When you consider that in some parts players like Imbrahimovic and Luca Toni are regarded as top strikers where teams are willing to buy big money for, he is underated.
Finnegan Posted 28 May 2009 Posted 28 May 2009 He wasn't on blistering form and there were rumours questioning his attitude. Plus I'm not entirely sure how available he was exactly. He certainly wasn't a priority for Barca to ship out, they were much more eager to make sure Ronaldinho and Deco left. There's been rumours linking him to just about everyone under the sun so far this summer.
Shrenchel Posted 28 May 2009 Posted 28 May 2009 The fact that the bigger teams don't reeeeaally give a fook about the Copa del Rey doesnt detract from the acheivement, just shows the strength of their squad. Real played a weakened team and got embarrassed by Irún, Barca played a weakened team in the earlier rounds too and breezed to the final.

There's been rumours linking him to just about everyone under the sun so far this summer. They were trying to shift him as much as Ronaldinho and Deco. He effectively pleaded with Guardiola saying he'd show the right attitude and score goals so Guardiola gave him the chance. When Eto'o started dominating Pep came out and said that he had proved him wrong.

He's been linked with quite a few English clubs last summer as I remember. Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and I think Tottenham were.
Radovan's Caravan Posted 28 May 2009 Posted 28 May 2009 Alarming reports circulating here in Voj that Manchester United's defeat last night was entirely due to the absence of this man: Apparently he has been voted 'World Player of the Year' by the FIFA technical panel but this verdict has been witheld from the footballing public over fears that it's release might spark a global boycott of the game. It is generally accepted by experts that the last Scotsman who was able to control a football was the wild highlander Hamish Murdo-McMac who was cut down whilst dribbling a boulder towards a line of Red Coats at Culloden.
Koke Posted 28 May 2009 Posted 28 May 2009 A Manchester United football fan in south-eastern Nigeria drove a minibus into a crowd of Barcelona supporters, killing four people, police say. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/8072356.stm Last time it was an Arsenal fan who hung himself in Kenya, and now a Manure fan drives a bus into a crowd of Barca fans and kills them. They sure take football very serious over there.
Bert Posted 28 May 2009 Posted 28 May 2009 I genuinely believe Eto'o gets overlooked/hardly mentioned by various people, sometimes down to his nationality, which is sad, because he is a fantastic footballer.

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 Cba to explain or give a logical reason: ABIDAL IS SHITE
Finnegan Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 I genuinely believe Eto'o gets overlooked/hardly mentioned by various people, sometimes down to his nationality, which is sad, because he is a fantastic footballer. I have always liked him. He's very technically gifted - lots of players and strong and fast and then generally the rest of their abilities get overlooked.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 Eto'o's a bit like Donovan McNabb for anyone that watches American football. Whereas other quarterbacks are described as "clever" or "intelligent", McNabb is almost always merely described as "athletic". I don't know if this makes sense.

I know what you mean, difference being though Eto'o plays for a good team, McNabb on the other hand...
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 I know what you mean, difference being though Eto'o plays for a good team, McNabb on the other hand... McNabb plays for the best (imo ) team in the NFL. Got some decent draft picks under their belts too.
Darkzzz_ Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 I don't watch NFL so I can't comment, but I will say one thing. Eto'o is a machine!!
Uncle Albert Posted 29 May 2009 Author Posted 29 May 2009 Eto'o certainly fit's the bill for English football.
Uncle Albert Posted 29 May 2009 Author Posted 29 May 2009 Maybe, but why would he want to move from Barca? I'm not saying he would want to leave Barca, what I meant was that he is the type of player that has success in England, he is like Drogba but without all the antics and drama that Drogba has come with. Maybe one day he will want to come and experience in England.
Darkzzz_ Posted 29 May 2009 Posted 29 May 2009 I think if he does leave Barca then his next stop will be England or Italy. The only English club I would like to see him play for is United.
StanSP Posted 30 May 2009 Posted 30 May 2009 He'd be more likely to end up at Man City.. Or Portsmouth
