Took a big knock to the ribs. Thought everyone did well today, massive shout outs to Smuts for coming down from Herts and Hammond (Ankle) (who was fantastic in goal) for coming up from Bristol (?) the final shout is for SuperDad aka Nev. What a jump to take their keeper down.

Bert Posted 5 July 2009 Posted 5 July 2009 The Referee's who do a great job which we all respect, caused what happen with the incident with Little Dave. All he had to do was use his whistle.As for Ash he got clattered in a 50/50 again involving the keeper. At the end of the day, Football didn't win. True. I said to the ref if you'd have blown your whistle none of that would've happened, he said he tried to play an advantage and let the ball run through to the keeper, yet when Ben became active he should've blown up, surely? We should've had a penalty as well, like you said, football didn't win.

Tomassi Posted 5 July 2009 Posted 5 July 2009 It really didnt matter who won the final after the horrific and disgraceful display of a couple of individuals of the opposition team. Whilst i must stress that this was not a reflection on the opposition as a whole, some of the antics of these individuals who i might add were at least twice the age of a lot of players on our team took the football to personal levels of thuggery, which was uncontrolled by the Ref. I am truly shocked that the referee is affiliated, and wouldnt be surprised if someone made an official complaint to the FA as his lack of control led to some violent scenes in the second half. After asking a simple question to the referee after the match, ''is raising your arms a sending off offence'' he was trying to avoid it and later said he saw nothing (in reference to Lil_Daves incident with their keeper), which astonished quite a few of us! Also I was quite shocked that one of the organisers who was supporting the opposition said we were bullied out of the final and that we were as bad as the opposition. The individuals who took it upon themselves to resort to such antics must be proud of themselves to show kids and families how they won the final, and I for one was very annoyed with the experience and will not be returning to play against such players on what was meant to be a day of fun and charity. Special shout out to their number 10, he was a great player but and absolute idiot who lacked respect for opposition players and the same goes for his centre back partner who was twice the age of some of our lads and his actions were disgusting. Even some of their 'followers' after the final whistle said football didn't win as they literally bullied and threatened some of our players I might hasten to add. I truly hope a lot of money was raised for a good cause as the organisers did a terrific job. No love lost however between the two sides. I have more respect for the coventry side we played.
