Please tell me thats not when Tommasi and cant remember who else collided. Might have been Maybes? They were both clean through and ran into reach other going for the ball not trying to take someone out.

Yes it is, collided with Jme. They were both running for the ball to go in on goal too.

Was JME I think.

I was the tall guy playing centre back mate.

That tard cant even spell wreckless lol

Yeah i know who you are mate i just thought it was you for some reason :P .

Exactly Bert. They we're clean through. The ref was probrely on our penalty spot at that point though.

Well there is a lot of shit being spread by some roofers! To me it is unthinkable that these "seasoned" supporters would defend the actions in the manner that they have done. Now that it has become apparent that the ref is a member of their forum rubber stamps my view that we were reffed out of any chance of winning the game.

Nah, that'd have been too close to the action.

is that ref for real? how is running for the ball a reckless challange when me and jme didnt see each other as we both made perfect runs from different directions?? an opposition playr was at least 5 yards further away!!

what a joke, same for some of the bentley views post match

Lads, for a game that meant nothing you are certainly doing a lot of talking about it. I was one of the good guys (didn't get involved unless the ball was there) and didn't agree with some of the over the top reactions but I don't think the ref caused your loss. You could have won with a little more steel but the younger lads are never going to get involved in a battle and that's the way it was planned. To say we took it seriously is funny considering you have people on here giving out players of the tournament awards for two 60 minute games????? Forget it now because 95% of you will be playing more games like that in the future. Not so sure about our some of our lot managing too many more games

oh and thanks for 'not playing your strongest team in the final'

If we can ever return the favour let us know and I'll bring me dad, I mean the ref

Guys, I wouldn't worry about this comment - as all of your are skillful enough to play at a high enough level to avoid this kind of crap, trust a soon to be 27, 20 season vetern. (20th season this one coming - bloody hell!)

Don't get me wrong, I've seen a few games flair up, normally from the saftey of my goal, but most players that play hard know where to draw the line and can come of the pitch and shake hands and have a beer and a laugh about it after. There will be a few enforcers at a higher level, but they are few and far between, there's not 6 or 7 in one side.

As long as I am fit, I fancy making the trip again next year.

And big shout for Man Pabs for organising us - top man. (If i owe you some cash private message me - I went to have a shower, and when I came out everyone was leaving!)

One broken rib

Email Message To A Friend | Reply

Done in the first challenge some lanky twat that stuck his elbow in as he ran by. I thought I were just badly winded at first..

Hence the reason I nearly throtled that kid was because he'd just kicked me in me broken rib again..

I tell ya what, it really fooking hurts now, the upside being that the pain killers are fooking awesome though..

Still, I believe I was the only keeper on the day to keep a clean sheet..

And once me rib's better that short arse pitch invader bloke who was trying to strangle me will get a right good fooking shoeing next time I see him. He was lucky I already knew me rib's were fooked..

How they ever expected to win with a fooking Weeble as manager I'll never know..

I fooking love these painkillers me

Probably sums it up.

Final was just a farce mate. Quite difficult to take seriously to be honest. Ref was clearly on their side as were the two linesman who flagged us off about 16-17 times and Im struggling to believe even half of those were right. They were an absloute joke in the first game we played as well, gave us everything, which makes me think the whole thing was somewhat stiched up from the start.

As for comment about me running on the pitch to "get involved" both times were to try and break up scuffles, both not started by us. Don't give me a reason to run on the pitch and I wont.

Congrats to them though they clearly wanted it more, very hard in the tackle and competitve. Unfotunatly a little too hard at times a few challenges were very high, alot of raised feet, one horrid challenge which was so late it would of been bordering a straight red in a normal game. And I don't think I really need to see anything about the really brave blokes who feel the need to man handel a lad half their size, :appl:. If they can get away with it though then why not it's not their job to make sure the game is played cleanly.

Mostly not a bad set of lads though I've got no problem with playing a team who want to play like that personally and I think the firs 45 was well contested and we had a few good chances, I think our main problem was we had quite a few smaller lads on in the second half who aren't used to games like that. Shook all their hands at the end, they were never going to win any other way, so well done to them.

Appologies to everyone for not playing our strongest team throughout but I needed to give everyone ago, wasn't a reflection of talent, we had two many midfielders yesterday unfortunantly and not enough defenders. I was given the impression it was suppose to be a day everyone enjoyed and I tried to make that happen.

DOn't apologise, buddy, you did the right thing, the match was supposed to be for charity and hence one would think it would be in a competitive but friendly manner, hence everyone was entitled to play and and enjoy the event!!

I think as a team the tournament has been a learning experience for the youngsters, there's always gonna be teams that just want to 'hack' the better opposition, and biased refeering is nothing new. It's just sad that it happened at a charitable event with kids and families present.

Anyway, well done lads, atleast you've helped raise some money for a good cause!!

FAO Maybes and Hammond

Read the words it says "95% of you (meaning most of you are so young you have years ahead of you) will be playing in more games like that". It doesn't say you will play 95% of your games in such a manner. I'll accept you apologies in advance

And I have to agree on the free kick when your lads collided. I was about to launch into the ref for giving it to you when your lads collided until he stopped me in my tracks with the weirdest decision I ever saw. And being on the spot at that time there was nobody trying to foul our player at the time.

Funny old game

Alright lads,

I was the useless lump up front for most of the final.

To be honest, the flare-ups came out of nothing really. Just two teams wanting to win. We were committed but none of us would've deliberately hurt fellow City fans, it was unfortunate that people got injured. There were two accidental collisions and the incident with your lad and the keeper was nothing more than handbags, it just looked worse 'cos we were all in there trying to protect our mates.

I think it would be wrong to label us as "thugs". You lads will no doubt have a bright future but you're gonna see real "thugs" in the Senior League, trust me. Equally, it's pretty disengenuous to blame the Ref. He did his best and got things wrong for both sides, and certainly didn't change the fundamental outcome of the game.

Thanks for getting involved, we easily surpassed the £3000 target for LOROS and I hope we'll see you around. If it's not presumptuous to offer you some advice, learn from the game and use it in the future. There are a lot of professional teams that do little more than bully you and you've got to be prepared to accept and adapt to it. You've evidently got the skill but that's not everything.

Thanks again and UP THE CITY!

I thought our defence was fantastic yesterday. Maybes was magnificent and kept Chunk from the Gonnies sctum in the final won everything in the air and on the deck as well. He marshalled the defence brilliantly and kept me on point in both games. Would have been my player of the tournament had Hammond not have turned up and been Gigi Buffon! Tevez was immense as well mopping up everything and i can't blame him at all for the 1 goal we conceded all tounament, even though he does blame himself. Ched and Tommeh both played out of thier skins in both games, especially Tommeh who (i think) was out of position. And then there was Tadman channelling the spirit of Chris Powell at left back cleaning up the Bono/Wolverine monster in the Cov game and keeping his head brilliantly in the final.

Oh I agree, it was just hard to rotate things properly with an unbalanced squad, thats what I was getting at.

We don't ever do that. Everyone gets a game, way it always works, way it always will work, it's not an excuse.

I thought the initial plan was for rolling subs, was there a change from that idea?

We had rolling subs. They rolled on at half time and whenever anyone needed a rest/was clattered by fat old men.

That was the plan for the roofers team OHV, with us being mostly "old gits" the boss thought we wouldnt last for 60mins.

Give it a rest will you smuts. Werent exactly faultless yourself were you. (as admitted on previous posts here) Glad to hear that Ashley is ok now, if still a bit sore.(mite think twice next time on going in on a keeper with the ball) End of the day lads, we done our homework on you watching the first game and got a game plan together where we wouldnt get stuffed (and i dont mean kicking lumps out of you either) and stuck to it. Ok you didnt like the strong challenges or the up and under balls towards your centre halfs (dont like heading a ball out do they) but thats the tactics we had to use in order not to get stuffed. Agreed that the ref didnt help matters either with some of his bizarre decisions and yes he shouldnt have been so bloody biased, but there you go. You have got a good set of players there Manwell and good on you for using all your squad. I hope they use the lessons learned from the game to overcome the same sort of tactics in future specially if they get to play senior league footy, just like both of our centre halves have and one still does. Many thanks to you all for turning up and making the day the success it was. Over £3000 has been raised for LOROS so far with more to come. Hopefully i might bump into a few of you down the city next season and see how your getting on. Cheers from the fella in the St George shorts. :)

Happy to set the record straight the two players colided trying to foul a Bentleys player (and there best foward took no further part) hence the free kick for un- sporting behavior by means of a reckless challange.

Err.. Yeahhh, me and Tomassi were trying to take their man out..

Absolutely pathetic, the bloke that posted that, I turned to run onto a through-ball, and Tom was also attempting to run onto it. I DEFINITELY had the pace to do their back-line on that occasion, so why would I deliberately run into my own man?!

Just to inform everyone, that clash has left me with a broken bone in my wrist, spent a good 5 hours in Sandwells hospital s'afternoon and have a cast on.

Thanks, i'm still very sore and the brusing is comming out still, it was 50/50 ball plus the keeper went in with both his knees up? i'd be going in for every 50/50 like that espically if we 've got chance of scoring and i'm sure anyone else would do the same.

I have to admit that from where i was standing it was funny as fook seeing you two nearly knock each other out. Sorry to hear about your wrist tho. Knackered your sex life up for a good few weeks ehh.

Hey at least you get everyone to wait on you hand and foot for a couple of weeks now. No he only went in with one knee up (protecting his ribs) With that attitude to football young fella you will either be a hero to your team mates or end up a crock like me having a cartilage op and the marks and scars that go with getting stuck in. Btw, our keeper has had a lot of stick over it.
