Koke Posted 5 June 2009 Posted 5 June 2009 Hence his name 'Duncan' obviously - but apparently it was his own doing? Tbh, I've never rated him and it was good that he got picked up by AGF as he probably couldn't have finished school Why did you live up here? He wasn't the smartest kid around. If he wasn't a footballer, he would have worked in one of those Kebab shops in central Aarhus owned by Palestinians. At the time he was very small, we were around 13-14 and he must have grown a lot in his late teens for him to develop his physical and heading abilities. Nobody called him Duncan, cos he was pissing in the wind if he thought he could win an aerial or physical battle against any of us in his age group. I lived in Denmark briefly due to my family travelling all over the place in the 90's from England to Kuwait to Jordan to back in England again. We were like fucking nomads. The reason we actually moved to Denmark at that point in 1996 was cos my mum fell very ill and we were too young to take care of her, so she wanted to be closer to her sisters who all lived in Aarhus at the time. I had a great time here, picked up the Danish language in no time and I speak it fluently now.

So many foreigners complain that Danish is a b*tch to learn with our weird and swallowed pronounciations of words. His nickname was given to him by the late Per Thune who was an AGF coach at the time, according to the wiki-page. But as you well pointed out, he was really smart. I remember he got a cruciate injury shortly after going to Brøndby when throwing snowballs at his teammates when a league game got called off because of heavy snow fall. He fell and twisted his knee or something and was out the rest of the season! Were you a fan of Mogens Lykketoft then? *looks at avatar* Likewise! SVAMPEBOB FIRKANT! I wish we would always be as consistent when translating English names. A couple of more embarrassing 'translations' of movie titles include Big Bang (Whoops! Apocalypse) and Die Hard - Mega Hard (Die Hard: With a Vengeance)

I picked it up rather quickly cos I was a child and I start mixing with the other kids and in no time I was speaking fluently. And another thing that helped me massively was there was no Somalis or Arabs in my class, so I forced to speak Danish and it sort of fast tracked me. The miracle thing is that I still remember it considering I left Denmark almost 10 years ago. I was a big fan of Lykketoft back then. Are you British or Danish? How come you support a tinpot club like Leicester?

How come you support a tinpot club like Leicester? I'm guessing you still have some friends you talk to from your time there? I'm Danish/German and grew up in Belgium... And I have no real reason to support Leicester. I played them once on USM and thought it'd be to check them out in real life. I read all about them and started following them. I was enchanted by MON and thought their achievements under him with largely a squad of nobodies was hugely inspiring. Been following ever since. I've been trying to catch a Leicester game for years now, but unfortunately my timing has been a bit off. With some luck, I could catch an away game when I'm in London in October...
Bert Posted 5 June 2009 Posted 5 June 2009 Whats Sacrasm? Im just hoping the stupid tube workers dont go on strike! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/8082106.stm By the way, I just read this from someone who works on the tube. Darkzzz_ Posted 6 June 2009 Posted 6 June 2009 I know this is not a qualifier but Italy's (B side) have really impressed me tonight against N.Ireland, who have many missing due to injury. Santon on his full debut has been a joy to watch and Foggia has just come off the bench and is impressing, some of the football these youngsters are playing is quality. If you get a chance to see the three goals then do... All top notch finishes.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 7 June 2009 Author Posted 7 June 2009 The socceroos have qualified for there 3 world cup and 2nd in a row. Party time time now unfooking believable

ozleicester Posted 7 June 2009 Posted 7 June 2009 Aus 0 - Qatar 0 what an abysmal way to reach the finals..still..the OZ are there i guess

Lillehamring Posted 7 June 2009 Posted 7 June 2009 a dour 0-0 draw for norway, leaves a very tricky task ahead... to be honest they should have won easily, had many chances but shocking final ball, decent keeping and sloppy refereeing ment it was never going to happen
Head Honcho Posted 7 June 2009 Posted 7 June 2009 Sweden - Denmark should be a fiery affair, especially after the match between them during the Euro 2008 qualifiers. Not feeling confident, especially with Laursen having retired and Agger doubtful for the match. That alongside the fact we don't have a recognised left-back and have some very hit and miss players on the wing... I'd be happy with a draw! I'd have been happier with a draw, £200 happier Had a draw double with Rep of Ire.

Just hope the dutch can do us a favour on Wednesday too.
Uncle Albert Posted 7 June 2009 Posted 7 June 2009 The Dutch the first European team to qualify for the World Cup. Probable pre-tournament hype for them and it will materialise into a Quater Final appearence at best.. abit like England.

One of the worst game I've ever seen quality-wise, but both sides were equally to blame for that. Luck was on our side again there. I'm sorry it wasn't on yours. Blame Henke Larsson, Zlatan and Thomas Sørensen for that a dour 0-0 draw for norway, leaves a very tricky task ahead...to be honest they should have won easily, had many chances but shocking final ball, decent keeping and sloppy refereeing ment it was never going to happen It's over now for Norway, surely

Blame Henke Larsson, Zlatan and Thomas Sørensen for that It's over now for Norway, surely it certainly aint looking good - 2 goals from four games is not qualification form, yet the only loss, 1-0 to holland, isn't so bad - but i'm beginning to regret forking out 45 quid for the game against the jocks, ah well, sure to be a serious serious piss up

As well as having to overcome a group of China, iraq and qatar just to make But glad to get thru it with a couple games to spare. Now I can't wait til december when the groups for the wc.
shen Posted 7 June 2009 Posted 7 June 2009 On a different note, Gabon and Burkina Faso are looking very good as surprise packages in the African quali. Cameroon, Morocco and Nigeria in some trouble..
