Granno Posted 12 June 2009 Posted 12 June 2009 Barnsley striker Iain Hume has said he will be fit to start pre-season after recovering from a fractured skull. The 25-year-old has not played since having surgery on the injury following a challenge by Sheffield United's Chris Morgan during a game in November. The Canada international told the club website: "As soon as pre-season starts, I am back in my eyes and hopefully in the gaffer's. "I have a lot to prove to people who have given me their amazing support." BBC
Asha Posted 12 June 2009 Posted 12 June 2009 I read this earlier, great news. Hope he gets a good reception when we play 'em at home.

dandannieldanok Posted 12 June 2009 Posted 12 June 2009 Will be interesting to see what happens when he comes up against the thug Morgan again.
Ben Posted 12 June 2009 Posted 12 June 2009 But if people chant Huuuuume he could think they're booing him
Asha Posted 12 June 2009 Posted 12 June 2009 But if people chant Huuuuume he could think they're booing him Did he think we were booing him every game then I'm sure he'd know.
MC Prussian Posted 12 June 2009 Posted 12 June 2009 I was a bit shocked when I saw this picture on the BBC page: Just take a look at the scars... I feel for the guy. Hope he comes back for good for Barnsley.
ousefox Posted 12 June 2009 Posted 12 June 2009 Glad he is back. Hopefully he will be able to carry on as the player he was before his injury.
MarkDeVries Posted 12 June 2009 Posted 12 June 2009 He will get a mixed reception, which he deserves. I will not applaud him or boo him. He was a good player for us. But the fact that when we went down, he said that he was staying with us because he and the team had got us relegated and then fooked off to Barnsley was a joke.

But the fact that when we went down, he said that he was staying with us because he and the team had got us relegated and then fooked off to Barnsley was a joke. This. I won't boo or applaud either. He was one of the better players of a poor bunch tbh, and at the end of the day he was in a team of losers. I'm glad he's back, I'm glad he's made a full recovery, no more, no less.
Finnegan Posted 12 June 2009 Posted 12 June 2009 Some cold cunts you are. I'd like to think any hard working, decent pro from any club would get a good reception coming back from something that severe. The fact he put in a decent enough shift for us should only help. Some things are bigger than football - the fact that this injury could have cost him his life is one of them.
Joe. Posted 12 June 2009 Posted 12 June 2009 Plus the fact that we accepted a bid from Barnsley, and his fate was then sealed with that? He'll get a good reception from us, absolutely no question.

This He was a good player and he's been through a lot, he should get cheered for the courage he has shown during his horrific injury
whitlock Posted 12 June 2009 Posted 12 June 2009 I'd like to think most decent football fans, what ever the team they support would clap Hume and more so us for being his former team!
Edmund Posted 12 June 2009 Posted 12 June 2009 He'll get a good reception from us, absolutely no question. Yep was the hardest working player on the pitch that season we went down. Can see him getting a good reception. Im surprised some people think otherwise, I would have never of doubted a good reception for the return of Hume injury or not.

Hope he comes back for good for Barnsley. I must admit, Morgan is a complete cvnt. This was completely out of order. He should have been arrested for this.
Hitesh Posted 12 June 2009 Posted 12 June 2009 Nice one. Hope he has a good season, apart from 2 games of course.
Corky Posted 12 June 2009 Posted 12 June 2009 I'll give him a clap. He deserves it for trying to play again when many would have said "thats it".
Daggers Posted 12 June 2009 Posted 12 June 2009 Hume was one who, despite his enthusiastic jogging around on the pitch, achieved the square root of fuck-all. He didn't deserve the shite adulation he attained then and deserves no hero's reception upon his return. A short-arse one-trick pony, he was one of the first rats desperate to leap ship when we dropped a division - why? Because he was one who corrupted the changing room, poisoned it, leaving it malfunctioning and resulting in our demise from the Championship, just one season ago. But the 24-year-old striker has vowed to play his part in helping the club bounce back to the Championship at the first attempt. Lieing, duplicitous, self-absorbed twat. Boo him? Will I fuck. Applaud him? He can fuck off.
Daggers Posted 12 June 2009 Posted 12 June 2009 Hume is now keen to make amends and is 100 per cent committed to the Foxes' cause."There is bound to be a lot of speculation flying around over the next couple of months but I am a Leicester City player and am not looking to move." Wank.
Asha Posted 12 June 2009 Posted 12 June 2009 I think you're wrong, Daggers. The way I've heard it is that the Barnsley bid was accepted and that he was, let's say, encouraged to leave. But leaving aside, he was one of the best players over a couple of years where, as a side, we were quite weak. Why was he a fans favourite? Because he gave everything for us and scored some crucial goals.

Come on Daggers are you drunk? Maybe he didn't score enough goals but Fryatt, Howard, DJ etc etc were just as much to blame. He scored some fantastic goals as well.

He was glorified because he did that "English" thing of running about a lot. What came with that was pouting about a lot when things didn't go his way. He was a fans favourite because the majority of fans are idiots. The majority of fans thought Kelly was a good bloke. These fans booed our side through to the Third tier. I'm happy swimming against the tide on this one. I'm not wrong, it's my opinion - no one else is wrong either, I simply don't agree with it. You want to hear how valued he was, listen to Pearson.

As I said in the previous reply, it's my opinion I've held it ever since Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuume played for us. The cult of his personality was always a poisoned chalice for this club, and consigned us to relegation in conjunction with poverty and piss-poor management. Drunk? Now? Fuck yeh.
