DB11 Posted 4 July 2009 Posted 4 July 2009 Chill. NP and MM have said that they are seriously looking into Midfield and Attacking signings. And if Mattock got injured, who would you put there? Chris Powell!
SamL Posted 4 July 2009 Posted 4 July 2009 Oh FFS not another unproven youngster and a another defender.NIGEL defense is fine mate, strengthen midfiled and attack! PLEASE! Our defence isn't fine if we're planning on cashing in on Mattock.
Father Ted Posted 4 July 2009 Posted 4 July 2009 Our defence isn't fine if we're planning on cashing in on Mattock. IMO I think it is. Centre-back has plenty of cover. We have Neilson at right-back and personally I think that Morrison can do a job there too. At left-back, Berner and Powell would be fine.
artursteppe Posted 4 July 2009 Posted 4 July 2009 If that goes through then it could see Mattock on his way, Man City wouldn't send this lad out on loan not to play. At least it might free a bit of cash up to spend on a striker or two. Apparently McGivern only played a few games for Morecombe last season, and none at all for Man City. He ain't gonna replace Joe Mattock. However, he is I understand a genuine prospect. Remember Joe is still a baby and it would still be a good idea to share the left back role with another young player who has potential, maybe on a 70%-30% basis. On top of that it could give us options at the end of the season. Another clever move from Nigel if it happens.
Jimmy Posted 4 July 2009 Posted 4 July 2009 Our defence isn't fine if we're planning on cashing in on Mattock. we have 3 left backs currently, Bruno was used in midfield because we didn't have enough actual midfielders
peterborofox Posted 5 July 2009 Posted 5 July 2009 He was linked again today in the press, The People I believe.
foxoffderby Posted 6 July 2009 Posted 6 July 2009 If all the rumors are correct and they appear to be, I think McGivern will fight it out with Bruno/Mattock for the leftback spot. The left midfield position which I originally thought was going to be Dyer with cover from N'Gussen, is going to be Dyer with cover from Bruno/Mattock. I think N'Gussen will be used as a 2nd striker playing a little deep or the player in the "hole" which I've banging on about for weeks that we need. The player with a trick, and can unlock a defence with a special pass. If McGivern does sign, and if my hunch is correct that Danny will play as an impact player from the bench or second forward things are looking very rosey. Just need another quality striker now to add competition with Howard and Fryatt. Feeling very positive about next season now.

His shooting and passing don't seem brilliant, but the pace alone will work behind the striker.
lcfcjack Posted 10 July 2009 Posted 10 July 2009 Manchester City left back Ryan McGivern could be on his way to the Walkers Stadium according to Sky Sports. Last month we reported the same story, but it is now suggested that manager Nigel Pearson could step up his attempts to land the 19 year-old on a season long loan. Currently the only left back at the club is Joe Mattock whose own future is still uncertain, so McGivern would be a welcome addition to the squad. The player spent time on loan at Morecambe last season, where he impressed in his short period with the club. It is very possible that McGivern is a recommendation of Northern Ireland's Under-19 coach Steve Beaglehole, who was Leicester's youth team manager a short time ago. The defender was called up to the Nigel Worthington's full squad last year, despite not yet making an appearance for Manchester City. Since then the youngster has gone on to win 6 caps for Northern Ireland, and could now be a summer target for Nigel Pearson's Foxes on a season long loan.

StanSP Posted 10 July 2009 Posted 10 July 2009 unless its a loan with a purchase price built in its not a good idea, Bruno Berner must be chuffed sky do such great research Well Bruno didn't play at LB as much as Mattock or Powell.
Jimmy Posted 10 July 2009 Posted 10 July 2009 Well Bruno didn't play at LB as much as Mattock or Powell. that doesn't mean he has suddenly stopped being a left back, it just means we had more cover there than in central midfield

Unless Sky knows something the rest of us don't.
Daveaway Posted 12 July 2009 Posted 12 July 2009 Can't see why we are in need of another defender, would we not be far better off getting some players in to boost the attack?
MikeyT Posted 12 July 2009 Posted 12 July 2009 Can't see why we are in need of another defender, would we not be far better off getting some players in to boost the attack? Maybe NP is going to shift Mattock on the left wing?
Edmund Posted 12 July 2009 Posted 12 July 2009 6 month loan according to the People Are "The People" stationed in Leicester? Second story of the day. It would make sense that he has signed because there all flying out to Slovenia today so you would have guessed they would want to bring him along.
