purpleronnie Posted 8 July 2009 Posted 8 July 2009 Well so close to a good day, let down at the end. Typical. Lets just hope the tail can frustrate the Aussies and put 50+ runs on tomorrow.
TrickyTrev Posted 8 July 2009 Posted 8 July 2009 We are one half decent partnership, which Broad and Swann are quite capable of putting together, from 400. I'd say the match is pretty evenly poised or the Aussies marginally ahead. All to play for either way.
Joe. Posted 8 July 2009 Posted 8 July 2009 Could be a bit better, disappointing to lose both Flintoff and Prior quite soon after each other when they were both looking good. Hopefully Broady and Swann can get us to 400, although I'm not expecting it to be honest. What disappointed me most is the manner in which Pietersen went out, very annoying. Still, like others have said, everything to play for still.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 8 July 2009 Posted 8 July 2009 Very Even day maybe we are a little in front as i think 400 is probably a par score batting first. Good to see Siddle get a couple good for the confidence rattling a few stumps.

Be interesting to see how Swann and Monty get on tomorrow on a pitch that was even turning on day 1

Ultra Posted 8 July 2009 Posted 8 July 2009 I will probably cry when Jimmy gets out for a duck Jimmy's never got a duck yet in Test cricket! He set a record yesterday with his 2 not out..

Good to see Siddle get a couple good for the confidence rattling a few stumps. Quite impressed with him yesterday. He bowled with plenty of fire and spirit and deserved his wickets with the second new ball, which brought you back into the game. However the England top six, especially KP and Colly, will be kicking themselves that none of them managed a ton on that pitch against that attack. But if the tail can add another 50 runs or so, the first innings total may prove competitive after all.
Fox You Forest Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 It'll be a very competitive score when Monty knocks off a quick 50 in the morning.
Brainy Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 was thinking that earlier, Jimmy and Monty 150 run partnership baffles the Aussies.

Even if it was 45 degrees and 100% humidity he would still be charging in bowling aggressivly an absolute workhorse with plenty of talent.........Merv Hughes style another great Victorian.
Corky Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 Anderson, Broad and Swann can all bat competently so we can hopefully add another 60/70 and put the Aussies under some pressure. Disappointed with Pietersen's exit but he batted well with Collingwood to get us out of a potentially difficult situation so I won't be too critical.

Corky Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 I think you're forgetting someone. Oh yes, Prior batted well too
Fox You Forest Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 Look at it spin, and he's not a big spinner supposedly.
Benji Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 that 4 back down the ground was stunning, best boundary so far for me over everything I saw yesterday
purpleronnie Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 This has been great though, quite peeved about the way Anderson went but he is a tail ender and he has done well. Pretty good score, the only dissapointment is no-one went on to a big score.
Brainy Posted 9 July 2009 Posted 9 July 2009 If nobody's going to get a high score, then the next thing we can ask for is for everybody to chip in. Thats what they did.
