Jimmy Posted 30 June 2009 Posted 30 June 2009 Sky Sports Wycombe Wanderers have signed Joe Cobb from Leicester City and handed a contract extension to Matty Phillips.Cobb has agreed a one-year deal with Wycombe to become the League One club's second signing of the summer after the arrival of Lewis Montrose. The left-back is happy to have clinched a move to Adams Park and is looking forward to playing under his new manager Peter Taylor. "I'm pleased to get it sorted today and I'm looking forward to starting training tomorrow," Cobb told the club's official website. "I have heard lots of good things about Peter Taylor, he's a good coach and a good manager, so I think this move will be great for me." Meanwhile, teenage striker Phillips has signed a one-year extension to his deal to tie him to Wycombe until 2011. Phillips said: "I'm very happy to get the contract sorted. I thought I had a decent year last season and I hope to kick on now. "We are going to be playing some big clubs next season and I'm really looking forward to testing myself against the likes of Leeds, Charlton and so on."
Bert Posted 30 June 2009 Posted 30 June 2009 I take it Cobby wasn't in the academy when peter Taylor was here. Good luck to the lad.
Guest Bilo Posted 30 June 2009 Posted 30 June 2009 Good luck to him, even if it didn't work out for him. He may just grow as a player in a smaller pond. Let's just hope he can prove himself against the Champions of Europe.

Corky Posted 1 July 2009 Posted 1 July 2009 He obviously never went out much when he was here.. I think he must mean "good lower-league manager". His spells with us and Palace at a higher level show that.

DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 5 July 2009 Posted 5 July 2009 Hope the lad does well for that mob up the road. Surely he doesn't intend living near Wycombe though, as it's a crap hole. Saw Peter Taylor in town a few weeks ago, and felt like kicking his arse until it came out of his mouth.
