BlabyFox Posted 6 July 2009 Posted 6 July 2009 I think that there should be a league where the top 5 teams from each league (e.g. Premiership, Serie A etc) should be placed in a european league of the best teams - sort of a champions league for the whole season. I think that this would add a big sense of competition between the top teams of Europe and give lesser clubs (like Fulham, Blackburn and our own Leicester) a chance to compete with the stupidly rich clubs such as Chelsea and Man City. Don't you think a title race between Juventus, Man U, Liverpool, AC Milan etc in this league would be hugely exciting, as well as a premiership title race with new challengers such as Aston Villa, Everton and Tottenham where there's a different winner/challengers every year rather than just Liverpool,Manu, Chelsea and Arsenal? I haven't included a poll as I don't want to see the idea shot down by you lot Your thoughts?

Bryn Posted 6 July 2009 Posted 6 July 2009 You... you actually think this would save football?! This is what all the big clubs are after and what most fans are desperate not to see. Who the hell would put money into domestic football, it would all go into this one big league. The remainder of the Premier League would get fook all money without the big 4 and the other leagues would get even less. Awful idea but unfortunately not entirely impossible.

Bluefoxtim Posted 6 July 2009 Posted 6 July 2009 Not to mention fans being alienated from half the games

Well its just an idea is all. I reckon the amount of money involved now makes it very hard for smaller clubs to establish themselves in the prem when promoted. e.g. west brom

Tommeh Posted 6 July 2009 Posted 6 July 2009 Take your idea to the real Manc/Pool fans mate, I'm sure they'd love to spend a grand on every away game on flights across Europe and hotels as opposed to £70 on the train and a few tins down to Upton Park.

Asha Posted 6 July 2009 Posted 6 July 2009 What would be the appeal of the premier league with Everton or Spurs as the biggest side?

Guest Bilo Posted 6 July 2009 Posted 6 July 2009 Horrible idea. I'd rather rim Fiorentino Perez while being brutally rogered by Pete Winkelman than see this come into fruition.
Ultra Posted 7 July 2009 Posted 7 July 2009 It's not quite the worst idea Blaby Fox could have come up with. When I saw the thread title, I thought he was going to demand the expulsion of all foreign players.

Would be nice to have more English players in the premiership. I think many people agree with that. Should be a minimum 3 english players in a teams starting 11.

Fosse Boy Posted 7 July 2009 Posted 7 July 2009 Someone different than the usual. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
