Surely, you wouldn't need to shoot down there boats to do that, and surely if you want to prevent them from dying, you wouldn't shoot anything at them in the first place!!!

It still doesn't justify or give a valid reason to sink there boats. How is sinking a boat then flinging a rubber dingy going to help? People will die in the process. Not everyone can swim and what if there are pregnant women, children etc? Fair enough they are breaking the law but putting someone's life at risk in the process is not the right way and there are humane ways of dealing with it.

You've taken what he said to an emotional extreme. He's not asking Rambo to do it The illegals see europe as a pot of gold. They're taking a life risking gamble for that gold. Mr Griffin is trying to get the message to them that what they're doing is wrong and dangerous, and if they know their boat will be sunk, they might stop doing it. The current system doesn't work.

Mr griffin, did not say that, Mr griffin as oer interview on tv, made it blatantly clear that the EU should sink immigrant boats comming to EU shores, he did not go about explaining his 'humanitarian' reason for it, maybe he did afterwards because he found out what a tool he looked! So threatening people of sinking there boats and causing them possible harm, is a responsible thing to do. And don't you think that these immigrants know the risk of using manmade boats???????

Im sure they are already doing there job to the best of there capabilities it's just that you seem to have this idea that there a thousands of people storming our beaches every day illegally. It's not the case. Im sure Lisa pulled out statistics on this in the past and the figures were very low. I know the coast guard have radar which detects the majority of these boats anyway. You will find that most illegals will try and travel via a back of a lorry not a ship. You will never be able to stop people from trying to cross our borders thats life, like you will never stop people from smuggling drugs. Its just you have to accept that our shores aren't overrun by illegals like your made to believe.

The kind of people, who are so desperate that they will cling to the underside of an aircraft or risk suffocation in the back of a vehicle will not be perturbed by this (ridiculous) threat. Something does need to be done to prevent them trying such desperate measures to escape their country, but this laughable "solutuon" is not one of them.

In their journal article from 2006 (International Migration, Border Controls and Human Rights: Assessing the Relevance of a Right to Mobility), Antoine Pécoud and Paul de Guchteneire quote a statement presented to the UN Secretary General in 2002, that says 3,000 migrants died between 1997 and 2000, most of whom died attempting to cross the Straits of Gibraltar. An earlier estimation that they quote gives a figure of 920 deaths between 1993 and 1997 trying to get into Europe. So thousands don't die trying to enter UK territory. Europe as a whole, you might have an argument, but not "our lands".
