CosbehFox Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 Nah, I meant more like if he did extremely well and scored 15-20 goals in The Championship his valuation would be through the roof, and Sunderland wouldn't want to let him go. Until we get into the Premier League I can't see us spending more than around £1m on a player.(I bet this week Pearson buys someone for £3m now. Shit!) You'd be surprised what fan power could do to any chairman. That said Meelan hardly threw himself at Davies, did he?
flanimal Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 Davies was never going to stay, who can blame him? Play against Yeovil - or step it up to Man Utd and Chelsea. Roughly, if Leicester got to the Premier League, how much money would they gain? Is it about £40m?

CosbehFox Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 Davies was never going to stay, who can blame him? Play against Yeovil The point was Mandaric could have bid for Davies before anyone else did. And show a bit more dosh than 300k regardless of the teams fighting for his signature. Further highlights your contradictory nature - you slagged off Lita on the premise he went Stoke to play in the Premiership but applaud Davies for his move to Bolton?
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 This could be a no win loan signing in a way - if he plays well and scores goals, he's going back to sunderland, or even if he does come up for sale, there will then be other clubs sniffing around, making the job of keeping him more expensive and unlikely. If he's crap, then he offers us nothing. Part of me hopes he and us are not too good - a season in which we don't touch the relagation spots or for that matter the promotion spots (don't think we're ready for the double jump.) will do nicely.

o_hall67 Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 i signed him on FM 09 for leicester in league one and he was quality! Could be a good signing but we'll soon see.
MPH Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 WHO I don't see how a 19 year old who has hardly played any League football will be a good bet as a striker to get us goals. i dont see how it can be a bad bet either? sure if he has played plenty of first team football and done nothing excitng thats somthing else.... its a loan... if it doesnt work out we have lost nothing. It's laughable you are telling nigel to sort it out... based on what ?
Calum McDermott Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 Thanks, Sir!It's just, like most people my interest is peaking right now, it'll be in overdrive by Saturday, and the one thing I'm waiting on is a proper striker... Waghorn wasn't what I had in mind, y'know. But after doing my research on the guy, he looks like he could be a good 'un. You seem to form an opinion on all the players we are linked to so fast yet you probably haven't seen alot of them play.
Toby or not Toby Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 Wouldn't mind this, would be interesting to see what kind of striker he is as i have never seen him play.
MikeyT Posted 5 August 2009 Posted 5 August 2009 Taken from SSN Transfer Clockwatch: 11.03 Carlisle boss Gregg Abbott admits he will have to turn to alternative targets having missed out on Sunderland striker Martyn Waghorn.
lcfc84 Posted 5 August 2009 Posted 5 August 2009 Taken from SSN Transfer Clockwatch:11.03 Carlisle boss Gregg Abbott admits he will have to turn to alternative targets having missed out on Sunderland striker Martyn Waghorn. thats good news then, hopefully be comfirmed today.

lcfc84 Posted 5 August 2009 Posted 5 August 2009 i think we have got to give NP credit really all his signings have helped the club in some way and i think we should trust him on the Waghorn deal. the lad is on the fringes at sunderland, and if he comes here he is gonna want to prove a point to steve bruce and make a impression. he is gonna come to city to play not for money or he could just stay at sunderland, so the fact that he wants to come means hopefully he will give his best and thats what all leicester fans want, a player that wants to play and will do his best for a club.

Guest Posted 5 August 2009 Posted 5 August 2009 Any striker will do. We could have our very own, prime time, BBC1 Saturday night slot with that
Leicesterboi Posted 5 August 2009 Posted 5 August 2009 I can confirm that this story is a go-er. As mentioned in the Ched Evans thread, I am currently working for The Manchester Evening News and have quite close ties now to some people at Preston. Preston were interested in a deal for Waghorn but I'm told Leicester have won the race. Waghorn is expected to travel down within the next 24 hours, deal complete within 48 hours.

Any rumours about McGivern or Cleverley?
Jimmy Posted 5 August 2009 Posted 5 August 2009 why is everyone so interested in McGivern when you haven't seen him play and just assume he's as good as or better then Mattock?
