davieG Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 Don't get them started. He might be prepared to play 3rd/4th/5th fiddle, Kee obviously wasn't as it had already been stated he wanted first team football. Thought I'd get that in before the "why didn't we keep Kee instead" camp start up. That wasn't my intention but now you mention the possibility............
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 Hardly going to be a first choice player I suspect.
flanimal Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 Likened to Rooney, whatever. He might be alright, but this cries of desperation - the sort of desperation where the only strikers he can sign are loanee youth team guys who have only managed to score one first team goal. In Nige I trust, but this one - not too fussed. Be surprised if he plays more than 6 games all season. Ajdarevic no. 2, I reckon.

I hate negativity about our club for the sake of it. It's bloody irritating.
mmarkie Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 I've seen him play before, against Derby for Charlton, looked very good, but that's just one game. Looks like he'll be more than good enough as cover for Fryatt.

Jon the Hat Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 Sounds like he might have something to add. If he is coming to the Championship it is to play football. Or they would send him to L1. From this we can surmise he will be one of our 4 main strikers.
MPH Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 So you think he was never going to sign any loanees then, if so you're talking out of your: back pocket?
flanimal Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 A contortionist? I expect a few loanees, sure. He might be alright, I don't know. I'm just saying it doesn't get me excited, y'know. If Markie has seen him play, I'd like him to shead some light on the guy's playing style...

You have never seen him play or heard of him, those that have rate him very highly indeed.
flanimal Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 For fook sake, all I was saying was that the signing doesn't fill me with excitement! I'm prepared to be wrong about him, I don't have a problem with that.
maddog Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 WHO I don't see how a 19 year old who has hardly played any League football will be a good bet as a striker to get us goals. Come on NP sort it out. This guy is another Ferrraira/Djezri etc loan signing that probably won't play.

Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 Just what we need a young striker hungry to play. I feel more confident now.

I'm glad someone (kind of) agrees with me. The guy has scored one goal for Charlton, I don't understand how people can be enthusiastic about this one, but I'll wait and watch.
StanSP Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 Heard of him. But never seen him play, not even on TV.
martyn Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 He only played a few games at Charlton ffs. He's broken into the first team picture at Sunderland before now and according to the articles, impressed some pretty good judges so far in his short career. To say he is a signing like Marco Ferreira is amongst some of the biggest tosh I've ever read. Furthermore, if anybody wishes to name some loan signing fu*kups made by NP, go ahead.

flanimal Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 Bit different when it's a striker though. I think a lot of people knew about Davies. To me though, Cleverly was a welcome surprise. But considering he was a Man Utd lad from the Fergie stable, chances were he was going to be alright.
StanSP Posted 4 August 2009 Posted 4 August 2009 Comment from Bluearmy website: Will be good for you. Not prolific but will get goals at that level. Can play wide or Centre forward specially of a big guy.Roy Keane, Seaham commented on 04-Aug-2009 16:38 Okay...who was it?
