Daggers Posted 7 August 2009 Posted 7 August 2009 Barr Stearman's first season, Stearman really was consistanly shite though...Unless he wanted to play, and when he could be bothered - Which was once in a blue moon.I was over the moon when we sold Stearman. Thing that pissed me off with Stearman was I knew what skill and potential he had, we'd all seen it in his first season, then the following seasons he was pisspoor, awful, at the end of the day we could have the best player in the world here, but if he isn't going to use his skill, or doesn't want to play for us what is the point in having them here? Stearman suffered from being in a bad team and this impacted on his development. He went backwards under Kelly as the drinking club took a grip on the club and his focus drifted. Credit to Holloway for turning him around and showing faith in him - at which point he became a far better player, but still not worth whatever money we got for him. It is grossly unfair that you slur Stearman's desire - that was the one aspect of his game which no one could question. I guess you were too busy listening to the radio, ordering burgers or struggling with puberty to notice the effort etched all over Stearman's face week in week out? Unlike Mattock.
Matt Posted 7 August 2009 Posted 7 August 2009 The major difference with Stearman, is that he didn't hand two transfer requests in. Well there is that fact aswell, but I was just replying to the poster who said people had the same opinion and were slagging Stearman off when he left.

Daggers Posted 7 August 2009 Posted 7 August 2009 Yet again someone's opinion get's thrown back at them taking the piss and personal insults. Nope - just yours Matt because the comment was fucking stupid.
J.Lisemore Posted 7 August 2009 Posted 7 August 2009 If he don't want to play for Leicester City then he can fook off to be honest. Don't care how good he is. Looks like its Berner at Left back then.

Agree with that about Stearman and I also think that Mick McCarthy made Stearman into the player he was by playing him in his natural position of centre back and this is where he needed to play. Instead we had our managers starting him full back and come on, he wasn't really a full back was he? He was always a natural centre back and Mick McCarthy exploited that and that's why he had a good season at Wolves, because he played in his natural position.

Ultra Posted 7 August 2009 Posted 7 August 2009 Ive heard rumours of £1.4mill.I doubt we will spend any of it. It will just line Milans pockets. A source from the club suggests that's exactly what may happen. Pearson is far from happy at the way Mandaric's undermined him on this matter.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 7 August 2009 Posted 7 August 2009 andy impey > richard stearman ? joey mattock

Salieri Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Been away for a few days so only just found out about this! Has he gone yet? Very disappointed with the timing of this as much as anything else. Thought the lad had a bit of potential but if West Brom wanna shell out £2million or whatever, then bye bye. Also, if a Premier League club had come in for him and he had his head turned, then i guess I couldn't blame him. But handing in a transfer request and going to another Championship club is a bit confusing. Leicester lad my arse, he can feck off and fail elsewhere.
lookwhaticando Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 He's still with us for now... he's not in today's playing squad, though.
