ob1kanobe0 Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 If he is playing when he comes back he will be tormented. Thats a bit strong, he is a Leicester lad. Lineker was chanted as a Leicester reject and slightly applauded when he took the lead for Everton at the kop end on his return, but we won 3-1.
Dames Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Tbh i think his career will go backwards from now on. He'll play a fair few games for WBA this season, they will get promoted and he'll go missing for a few seasons when they strengthen before resurfacing on loan at Plymouth, probably only as cover.
Craig Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Why's he left us for a midtable side? Berner shits all over him anyway.
Big Ol' Bob Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Fair play if he wants to go to WBA. Life goes on. Can't say we missed him today!
Jimmy Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Fair play if he wants to go to WBA. Life goes on. Can't say we missed him today! dunno Berner didn't get forward as much as Mattock would have and 1st half that left us lopsided with Dyer going into the middle
Joe. Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 dunno Berner didn't get forward as much as Mattock would have and 1st half that left us lopsided with Dyer going into the middle Come on Jimmy remove your penis from Mattock's arse for five minutes. Berner won the penalty and set up Waghorn's goal. What more could he do going forward?!
Jimmy Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Come on Jimmy remove your penis from Mattock's arse for five minutes. Berner won the penalty and set up Waghorn's goal. What more could he do going forward?! I said 1st half, yes he improved in the second but so did everybody, I thought Wellens won the penalty, not that it mattered
Bert Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 I said 1st half, yes he improved in the second but so did everybody, I thought Wellens won the penalty, not that it mattered How? I mean, HOW?
Jimmy Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 How? I mean, HOW? quite easily was only half looking at that exact moment
Bert Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 quite easily was only half looking at that exact moment Ok then... How you could half only be looking at the situation I don't know.
Flynny Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 dunno Berner didn't get forward as much as Mattock would have and 1st half that left us lopsided with Dyer going into the middle This is actually retarded.
lou Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 dunno Berner didn't get forward as much as Mattock would have and 1st half that left us lopsided with Dyer going into the middle Berner played better today than Mattock played all last season IMO
Big Ol' Bob Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 "Berner played better today than Mattock played all last season IMO" WORD!!!
Daggers Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 Berner 8 - Berner played one game better than all of Mattock's last season. Good overlapping, good passing and excellent penalty win right in front of me Berner played better today than Mattock played all last season IMO
lou Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 I honestly hadnt seen your post before I wrote that! Great minds etc etc.... or its just a fact
Daggers Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 I honestly hadnt seen your post before I wrote that! Great minds etc etc.... or its just a fact It's a fact...it has to be, our great minds made it so.
bigneville Posted 8 August 2009 Posted 8 August 2009 My biggest concern about letting Mattock go and playing Berner was Berner's ability to handle a pacey winger. They don't come much quicker than Nathan Dyer, and he didn't get any change out of Berner today. So that helped to quash some of the doubts about that. I truely hope Berner takes this chance and makes the position his. Joe can go and take his money grabbing ego elsewhere, as we all know, this deal is all about money. There is no other reason for moving, he is a money-hungry teenager, but to be honest, i'm sure most 19 year-olds would have done the same, when another club was offering to double or maybe even treble your wage. Lets just hope the initial fee of around £1.4million has lots of add-on's attached.
Jimmy Posted 9 August 2009 Posted 9 August 2009 Ok then... How you could half only be looking at the situation I don't know. cus the guy behind my caught me on the back of the head and I turned around, when I looked back just saw the player going down
Legend_in_blue Posted 9 August 2009 Posted 9 August 2009 Berner > Mattock. Why? Because he has the intelligence and awareness to play the position better.
Thracian Posted 9 August 2009 Posted 9 August 2009 I've never quite understood the faith so many have shown in Joe Mattock. Yes, he's shown promise and was a fairly important member of our champion youth team. But, even at that time there were arguably more important cogs and, while he has not let the club down as a first team player I can't say I've seen his influence grow on the team and nor has he shown signs that from a raw apprentice of a left-back he is slowly becoming a master craftsman. That City have got £2million for him is damned good business from what I've seen. Yes Mattock seems capable of being a genuine attacking left-back but I've long thought his positional play is suspect, that he lacks the sort of real pace needed to be an Ashley Cole type and, that, as much as anything has generally meant him keeping the attacking brakes on at first team level. Maybe his move away from his home town will be good for him - I hope so because I wish only the best for him- but whether it will lead him on to better things I'm not sure.
StanSP Posted 9 August 2009 Posted 9 August 2009 Bruno Hit the bar first half to!? That was a shot and a half!! Mattock won't be missed if Berner keeps playing like he did yesterday. And we have Powell as back up!
flanimal Posted 9 August 2009 Posted 9 August 2009 I was surprised Mattock played ahead of Berner. He always was suspect when I watched him play. £2m, FTW.
