Budweiser Posted 14 August 2009 Posted 14 August 2009 I have lived in LE3 all my life and I must admit burglary is a problem, although my house has never been burgled, my mums house has been broken into 3 times, stuff has been stolen from my car, my house and car have been vandalised.................................................... Thought it looked a bit funny, are you sure vou've never been burgled?
Dr The Singh Posted 14 August 2009 Posted 14 August 2009 Thought it looked a bit funny, are you sure vou've never been burgled? Nah buddy not yet, what I meant to say was that my house and car have been vandalised!!
Dr The Singh Posted 14 August 2009 Posted 14 August 2009 It did. In German, of all things. How much more racist can you get? Ahhhhh, I see, you see my german isn't as good as yours..................................
Guest Bilo Posted 14 August 2009 Posted 14 August 2009 Moving into a house in LE3 in a couple of weeks, how very encouraging. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of those areas listed were largely populated by students, burglars tend to target such areas as they know they're likely to find a ready supply of laptops, TVs and other electrical equipment in a student house. No surprise to see Nottingham on top of the list though.
fox123 Posted 14 August 2009 Posted 14 August 2009 Hmm, I'm wondering if these are the most burgled places, or where it's the places where people have made the most insurance claims. Either way, I'm glad I don't live in those areas purely down to insurance being much higher than those of less risk.
Finnegan Posted 14 August 2009 Posted 14 August 2009 surprised N8 isn't higher up the list. Muswell Hill and Crouch End, snobsville and greater snobsville stuck in the middle of some of North London's roughest areas. Might as well just paint a target on their houses.
CosbehFox Posted 14 August 2009 Posted 14 August 2009 Hmm, I'm wondering if these are the most burgled places, or where it's the places where people have made the most insurance claims. Most house insurance claims (and don't know if it's the cost rather than quantity). The stats were done by an insurance firm. So in a way it's part about crime and part about homeowners wealthy enough to buy house insurance. Some of them are decent and posh areas...in some examples, the houses are more of a target because what they will have inside them ie. Fulham.
Zingari Posted 14 August 2009 Posted 14 August 2009 I lived in LE3 and kept a life sized model of Tony Martin holding a shotgun in the window , never had any bother . I got burgled a couple of times in Belgrave though
Bellend Sebastian Posted 14 August 2009 Posted 14 August 2009 Anywhere that has a lot of terraced houses and rented property gets a lot of burglaries, I think because their security is generally shit and there's often shared access to the rear of properties. If you really want to avoid getting burgled, make it as hard as possible for anyone to get round the back of your house. I do see people doing spectacularly naive things sometimes, like the usual going out and leaving all the windows open, and stuff like sitting in the front room at night with the curtains open so that everyone can see in and see the Xbox and laptop sat there (although you can't see out, people can see in, you divs), and buying something expensive like a big telly and leaving the box outside the front door, . You might as well stick a list of the nickable items you have in the window
Daggers Posted 14 August 2009 Posted 14 August 2009 Burgled postcodes? Pussies. I've lived in two of the three most dangerous countries! A bit of paint on your car? Pah! I've been killed twice.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 14 August 2009 Posted 14 August 2009 I've lived in two of the three most dangerous countries! One of these is surely Britain, right? It's impossible to walk down to the shop without being bummed, robbed and murdered where I live
