AjcW Posted 17 August 2009 Posted 17 August 2009 Were on ESPN at 7pm this evening. The ESPN classic channel. Its the 4-3 v Wolves. Rather depressing but probably a good watch.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 17 August 2009 Posted 17 August 2009 What a first 45 mins that was! My first away game that season. Ferdinand killing them from Izzets corners then Scimeca with a great daisy cutter. Then it all went downhill. I remember when they scored all the City fans were singing along and dancing to the Tom Hark tune (like at Huddersfield this season). Then they scored again and again a small few mocked the wolves fans, but most of us knew we were going to throw it away and it was inevitable. At that point we should have shut up shop. They scored won 4-3 and I remember seeing City fans coming out crying. But the result did help us beat Blackburn, Pompey, Man City away, draw with Arsenal in the next month so it did have a small positive.
Fosse Boy Posted 17 August 2009 Posted 17 August 2009 I was at Alton Towers that day. Had no idea what the score was until we turned on the radio in the car. What a thoroughly depressing drive home that was.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 17 August 2009 Posted 17 August 2009 That wasn't the first game we had thrown away that season was it - because I remember going to my brother - amazing we're 3-0 up... oh shit, we're gonna lose this aren't we and then continue to watch Jeff Stelling read out my misery!
Free Falling Foxes Posted 17 August 2009 Posted 17 August 2009 Talking of classic games: I read the the other day that we were involved in the highest score-draw in pro football. It was in the 1930s and we drew with Arsenal 6-6. And no, we weren't 6-0 up at half time.

What a thoroughly depressing drive home that was. I was in London that day, like you I had no idea what the score was. Then someone said they lost 4-3 and they were 3-0 up at half time. I laughed in their face. I wasn't laughing when I got home. IIRC, Fulham beat Man U at Old Trafford that day too.

There was nowehre to plug the bastard toaster in though.
leicesterseddon Posted 17 August 2009 Posted 17 August 2009 I remember at half-time they had a penalty shoot-out with the mascots, one scored a belting penalty and the MC shouted out 'yow shud coom on for the secund aarf mayte' That feeling when they scored their fourth...just horrible...don't think I'll ever forget it
CosbehFox Posted 17 August 2009 Posted 17 August 2009 I left the house at 3-0 up at Half-Time to go watch Nottingham Panthers and went for something to eat before we got there. Came back out of the pub, turned on the radio....4-3! Had the hump the rest of the day. That was late topped off by the Middesbrough game....went to the cinemas...first thing I did when getting out was ring my Dad for the Leicester score. The conversation started at 3-1 City and by the time of putting the phone down, it ended up 3-3! <_<
Budweiser Posted 17 August 2009 Posted 17 August 2009 Absolutely wounded when I was watching GSS. Stelling was going mental saying that their was a winner at Molinuex. Turned the TV off, didn't even check, we all knew. That was one of the most painful defeats ever, and I wasn't even their. Or M'boro away, 3-1 up 2 mins to go, oh the pain.

Pete_foxes Posted 18 August 2009 Posted 18 August 2009 John Curtis didnt Scimeca rack in an o.g aswell?.. I was so pissed off at that game and especially the wolves game there was so many occasions that season where we threw away 3 points and probably would have stayed up also the 4-4 against Tottenham. I don't know if its true but I remember a friend (man u fan) telling me a while back if we'd of won all the games where we were infront initally that season we'd of finished third. I guess a pretty pointless stat but if you think if we'd of won the games that we SHOULD of won from the position we were in we'd definatly not of been relegated!
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 18 August 2009 Posted 18 August 2009 Scimeca didnt score an own goal vs Middlesbro I dont think. For that 3-3 game I was at Forest vs Reading with Radio Leicester on. Remember when they made it 3e-2 and the commentator said, they have scored no time left though surely. Then Curtis was a twat and I went home in a hump.
