Not the best performance of the season but another 3 points nonetheless.

8 points from the first 4 games and 5th place.

I think we would have all settled for a start like that.

Its a great start. Well ahead of where I expected us to be at this stage. Newcastle away is tricky, but the next two home games are ours to win!

Hala Leicester!

Newcastle could be tricky, but I think we could give them a run for their money. If city get their noses infront, then newcastle heads will drop really quick. We have tons of confidence a sound defence and goals in us.

They havent beaten any 'top' opposition in this league yet IMHO. Could it be the fixture that announces City as real contenders, and begins the geordie slump down the league again..?

Hopefully they will get rid of a few more players toward the end of the deadline..

I'm delighted with another win. Also Fryatt has just said on the radio he should be good for the Preston game, I'm relieved it's not too serious.

Were currently in 5th but could go down to 7th. Which would be quite harsh considering the good start we have had.

yeah, but inevitably, after only 4 games, there will be quite a few teams hovering around the same points total. Still a cracking start IMO

It was absolute carnage in the Barnsley penalty area for the first 10 to 15mins of the second half. How we ended up with just the one goal I don't know.

After it took us a while to get going, we controlled the game and gave another professional account.

Could have been a couple more goals for a more convincing scoreline, but 3 points nonetheless is brilliant.

Its brilliant i dont think we have had a team so competative in this league, apart from when we won promotion

The game took a similar pattern to the Swansea game although perhaps not such extreme. Fair play to Barnsley, they were a lot better than I expected them to be and they looked just as dangerous as us. Hume's miss was appalling, we got lucky.

Good result, and rightfully deserved. After the start we had to the second half it could have been two or three, but I'm not going to complain with a win. We just lack that bit of something up front most of the time.

Very well taken goal from Fryatt mind, although I was shotuing at him to pass it to Gallagher...

Not bad. I was a bit worried by the chances Barnsley made after we scored, a good team would have punished us.

I said before the match i'd be very happy with the first month of the season if we win today, we won today, i'm happy with this first month and we have done better than I expected.

We played well today, but I think it's the worst we have played so far this season, if that's the worst we play this season i'm ecstatic. Fryatt is surprising me - Which obviously I glad he is, Considering he is playing half fit he is playing well.

Gallagher wasn't the best but he's only had 1 training session with the team, still settling in so I think I perhaps expected too much from him, didn't look a bad player though, give him a few weeks, and a few games, i'm sure he'll turn out good.

He was offside anyway.

Onto the game. Game of teo halves - first half they were slightly better I thought, first game i've been to this season and was disappointed with our first half performance. Fryatt looked like he did 2 seasons ago, Wellens didnt live up to the hype and we looked shaky at the back. Thought we must've been very lucky to start the way we have.

Second half we came out and put pressure on them - Wellens stepped it up a gear, as did Fryatt, and in the first 15 minutes we could have had 3, and should have put the game to bed. We should of pressurised them earlier, theres a reason why theyve conceded loads of goals, because theyre crap at the back and we should have exploited that. They came back into it in the last 10 mins. We let them, as we always do.

Overall it was a good win, we dug in deep, scored a good goal and took the 3 points. I'm not gona complain. We always struggled against the poor sides when we were last in the Championship. Hopefully thats a thing of the past.

Talking individuals now, I thought Gallagher did well, considering he has had 1 training session with us and isnt near match fitness. He has a good touch, good feet and is a good passer. He forced an excellent save from their keeper in the second half. I like him, you can see he's a cut above. But people - please dpont expect him to be brilliant in the air because he isnt - anyone who has seen him play knows that. He'll be a valubale addition.

Dyer was distincly average, probably below average, not sure hes gonna cut it in this league. Wellens was good in the second half, a good passer, a nice assist and is a dogged midfielder. Good addition from Pearson. Defence was fairly solid, if a little shaky. Was impressed with Neilson - people said he offers nothing going forward but he made some excellent runs today and looks like a very dependable right back. Taller than I thought aswel.

N'Guessan was good as I expected, has pace, a thunderous shot (as we saw hit the bar) and takes people on. Looks a decent crosser aswel. Put in one sumptuous ball that should of been buried by anyone attacking.

Weale seemed solid, good catcher, good general game, except kicking. Hoping it was a blip as i've been told his kicking has been good so far.

Overall a very good start and a decent Saturday afternoons football.

The shakey end wasn't very nice but we should have gone 2/3 up from that spell after the break. We were camped in their half for ages.

We won, that's the main thing. Hardly inspiring but whatever.

Would like to see Gradel get some game time on Tuesday but I seriously don't see where Tunch is going to get back in.
