BedsFox Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 Perhaps I am old fashioned, or maybe out of touch these days. Maybe you can put me right. However this morning I feel a bit indignant Last night at Preston I sat and listened to 90 minutes of drivel from the Preston fans to the right of us I am not sure which female Leicester supporter the comments were aimed at but we had constant chants of "who's the slapper over there" "she's got chlamyida" "does she take it up the bum" continually. Very few other chants, certainly very few in support of their team, just verbal sexual abuse towards whoever it was I'm 42 years old, seen and heard most things at football matches and I cringed at all of this. It was OTT and it embarrassed me. Preston, superbly redeveloped ground, good team of course. However the minority of their fans to our right really got my goat. Am I alone in this?

Shrenchel Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 Hardly crime of the century is it mate. If that's the worst behaviour their fans came out with last night I don't think you've got too much to complain about. Maybe a bit harsh if it was all directed at just one lass minding her own business but I'm not a fan of the gestapo policy of dictating what's sung in football grounds. Boys will be boys.
Bluefoxtim Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 It was all light-hearted! What about the Leicester fans singing about the 'gay boy in the pink'?
SamL Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 I think it's just banter at the end of the day. We were singing similar things to Chris Morgan away at Sheffield United last week.
BedsFox Posted 26 August 2009 Author Posted 26 August 2009 Was it your wife/daughter they were aiming this at? Nope.
Bert Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 Ha, it was funny at first, then it just got boring. We gave some banter back which egged them on a little bit too. The Preston fans involved will be remembering that until they mature, that's for sure.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 I agree it was particularly moronic last night. They were barely watching the game. Every time I glanced across the whole section seemed to be posturing in our direction. It was embarrassing stuff, reminiscent of those kids at Tranmere away last year.
DanTheFox07 Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 Was it your wife/daughter they were aiming this at? If u read his post, tells you he is unsure who there aiming there chants at
BedsFox Posted 26 August 2009 Author Posted 26 August 2009 btw I am not saying there aren't worse things in the world or it wasn't intended to be light-hearted It was just pathetic. I'll leave it at that!
Ford Super Sunday Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 It was just boring The fact they kept chanting it over and over and over and over and over again... You could just predict when they were gonna do it, and when they did I just shrugged, because it clearly showed that they had lost interest in the game (though I doubt they had even come for it to be honest) Those type of yoof fan annoy me. Clearly are there just to shout and chant at the away fans. Spend the entire game watching the away fans, and when they score, spend the entire time cheering at the away fans. Though the ticket prices were only £5, so we had to expect those ******

I couldn't agree more. I was perplexed, disgusted and questioned what was the point of them being there. How is chanting those types of words against a female fan classed as supporting a team? At the final whistle, I witnessed ladies leaving the game, who must have wondered what type of people they are sat amongst and what class of society do they originate from and I concur, it was boring, pathetic, repetitive and left a bad taste in my mouth and I speak as a passionate Preston fan. What I would like to add - this is a true 'tiny' minority and I mean tiny minority, that are becoming notorious for their behaviour, which includes throwing coins at their own supporters, who sit below them. Normally that part of the stadium is not populated by anymore than 500 supporters and it is a very small group within that number (20-30) (lovingly known as chavs over here - or alternatively known as moths, such is their love of standing on dimly- lit street corners, normally around off licences), who sit at the top of the stand, that are the perpetrators and I'm baffled to why the officials at the club can't sort it out - I don't usually frequent that part of the ground, as we normally sit in the stand opposite the away end, which was closed last night, so my visit to that side of the ground was rare and I got to witness it first hand and although banter is a a part of the game and one that can be fantastically humorous, those chants, that were heard last night, are not that, however, the chants were in response to the 'rent boy' chant from another minority of Leicester fans - both pointless chants and nothing to do with the game of football, unfortunately, it's a part of society and all of us have flaws.
mancfox Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 Moronic chanting from a bunch of idiots who clearly had no interest in the football. Was just irritating to listen to. Its fans like those that give football a bad name
davieG Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 If homophobic chanting is considered unacceptable then surely this must be. The fact that it was childish, boring, banter, just having a laugh is irrelevant - they used to use all those excuses to justify racial chanting. Banter should be about the football not individual fans or against particular sections of the community. Things have moved on and whilst we may want to get rid of goal music and return to supporting our teams as we did in the past some things are no longer acceptable.

I am a 55 year old female who loves to go to matches on my own - but I would have died had I been anywhere near that sort of chanting last night. Feel sorry for those who can't do any better. Witty chanting is great - let LCFC fans keep the standards up!
Guest Mee-9 Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 Just a bit of banter, but what must the woman have thought? Thousands of preston fans asking her if she takes it up the bum?

Koke Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 Don't we get the "Does she take it up the bum" chants now & again at home? I remember it happening against Wolves or maybe it was Wednesday couple of seasons ago. It really is embarrassing and cringe worthy.
BedsFox Posted 26 August 2009 Author Posted 26 August 2009 Get a sense of humour, and why the hell were you sitting anyway, boring fart. cheers It really wasn't at all funny In common with 6,900 other "boring farts" I was sitting down, in an all-seater stadium Thanks for the constructive comment
lavrentis Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 Get a sense of humour, and why the hell were you sitting anyway, boring fart. Its easier said then done. We;d all love to stand up and create an atmosphere but we cant because people like to sit down, maybe if you could come to Leicester match and stand up rather than moaning about it all the time you could see.

It really is embarrassing and cringe worthy. It is. I had the entire Millwall away end chanting that at me last season; I managed to ignore it. I don't understand this obsession with anal sex, and can only think that there is far too much repressed homosexual feeling amongst the blokes who start this chant. Get a sense of humour, and why the hell were you sitting anyway, boring fart. It's not even remotely funny, to be honest, whether it's directed at a bloke or a bird.
Budweiser Posted 26 August 2009 Posted 26 August 2009 Who gives a shit. It's banter. What do you expect? If you go to a football match and moan about the chanting and don't like it, don't go. It will always go on. It's hardly awful is it? A few chants.

Banter is awesome, but people who are shit at it but think they are bossing the joint make people feel like Bedsfox & others
