leicesterfox86 Posted 22 September 2009 Posted 22 September 2009 Interested to see what the general opinion of him is. I personally think he is one of the most influential strikers around (other than Fryatt obviously), but a lot of people just can't stand him. This football writer thinks that he can be a leader for Chelsea, which is something I agree with I think. It's very much off topic I know and other than having him my fantasy team, I don't have too much riding on how he does, I just wondered what everyone thought of him. Seems to split opinion quite a lot.
lou Posted 22 September 2009 Posted 22 September 2009 Brilliant footballer just a shame he spoils it by cheating
lildave3 Posted 22 September 2009 Posted 22 September 2009 Fantastic player, one of if not the best striker in the world. I think people know I love a target man and he is just unbelievable in that role - when he wants to be. Yeah I wish he wouldn't roll around on the floor every 10 minutes but it's not something that makes me dislike him.
Koke Posted 22 September 2009 Posted 22 September 2009 Yeah I wish he wouldn't roll around on the floor every 10 minutes but it's not something that makes me dislike him. Pretty much. He's absolute top quality. Best striker in the league [yes I'd pick him above Torres]. Pace, strength and his finishing is wanking material. He will bully the 2 CB's on his own all day long and win the battle. He's a 6'2 brick wall, which obviously makes his antics rather embarrassing. But I don't care. I'm willing to overlook that cos he's fucking good.
lou Posted 22 September 2009 Posted 22 September 2009 Lets face it, if we were totally honest we'd kill to have a player of that calibre in our team

Guest Bilo Posted 22 September 2009 Posted 22 September 2009 A brilliant player with awesome strength, a lovely finish and a great strike rate. As a bloke he comes across as an arrogant arse who spends far too much time diving, which is frustrating for one so talented.
Tommy G Posted 22 September 2009 Posted 22 September 2009 Great player but it's a shame his cheating and attitude lets him down. If he was honest, didn't shout at TV cameras, didn't roll aroun then everyone would like him much more and he would be more respected. He's a very srong striker and doesn't need to fall over all the time, idiot.
Wilkesy Posted 22 September 2009 Posted 22 September 2009 I think hes a quality striker. Pretty much the all round package, can use both feet and is good with his head. Got to be up there with the all time great strikers that have played in the premiership.
Koke Posted 22 September 2009 Posted 22 September 2009 I still respect him 100%. I have no morals and I'm a cunt, but I don't care. Cheating or no cheating, I still love the bloke.
Budweiser Posted 22 September 2009 Posted 22 September 2009 I hate the man. Certainly on the pitch anyway.
Finnegan Posted 22 September 2009 Posted 22 September 2009 Extremely talented footballer, only a moron would argue with that. But I wish he wasn't in the sport and I'm bemused by the people who stick up for him, really. It seems to be cool or trendy to like wankers in football and to some extent I can see why (I mean for fucks sakes I've got a Bellers signature and avatar.) But there's a difference between being a bit of a character or a bit of a twat and just simply being a malicious, flat-out cheat. I can forgive Robbie Savage for the odd bit of pantomime theatricals, nobody takes the man seriously anyway. I don't at all condone it but it doesn't irk me as much as Drogba who you can guarantee will be making a fuss every, single game like clockwork. It's painful to watch to a point where I generally don't watch Chelsea games anymore because I know it'll wind me up.

lavrentis Posted 22 September 2009 Posted 22 September 2009 Awesome striker. His face in his celebration the goal he scored last was priceless.
Jon the Hat Posted 22 September 2009 Posted 22 September 2009 Class player on the pitch and nice bloke off it. Met him in Tesco last year.
Finnegan Posted 22 September 2009 Posted 22 September 2009 Never have I read such a biased post. I knew I'd take flak for that and I'm willing to do so. I appreciate I have bias towards Savage but I don't think his antics are anywhere near as severe and I mean that. Savage's theatrics and play acting are usually rarer incidents, what annoys people more about him is his general bad attitude and his tenacious, edge-of-the-law tackling. Drogba irks me doubly because he's such a gifted player and doesn't need to be rolling around on the floor like he's been shot several times a game. The incident with Jens Lehmann was absolutely diabolical.

The incident with Jens Lehmann was absolutely diabolical. Don't get me wrong I love Robbie especially as he always gave 100% for Leicester, but saying Drogba shouldn't be in the game is a bit silly. No one likes to see cheating or diving in the game but it is everywhere, maybe not so much in these leagues but it is rife across Europe. As he has been brought up at a European club he has probably had it instilled in to his game plan and it doesn't help when all the past managers at Chelsea have been non English. What I don't get is he seems to get targeted more than others. Ronaldo was a perfect example he was the king of diving and everyone knew it yet he was praised (I know he was a bloody good footballer) yet Drogba seems to be deemed a cheat by the majority. You say you are bemused that people stick up for him and it is cool to stick up for "wankers" in football when I think the opposite. Ive always wondered why people seem to bracket certain players as wankers no matter what they do i.e Drogba, Adebayor, Ashley Cole etc Why do people seem to jump on these bandwagons and think its cool to hate certain players. For example look at the Ashley Cole situation when he asked for more wages and ended up moving to Chelsea which has nothing to do with Leicester fans yet people seem to have hate for him. At the same time you have players like John Terry who held there club to ransom over the summer and come out angels as he is captain of the national side.
Uncle Albert Posted 22 September 2009 Posted 22 September 2009 On his day he is unplayable. Brilliant footballer, a centre halfs nightmare, height, strength, pace and a bagfull of quality. I love watching him, his first touch is unreal. I like his passion aswell.
Finnegan Posted 22 September 2009 Posted 22 September 2009 I dislike greed universally, in and out of football. I disliked Ashley Cole's attitude towards his pay but I wouldn't say I "hate" him or anything. I dont think I generally get swept away with hate culture (or on the other side of things, fanboy) bandwagons. I also appreciate I'm obviously prone to hyperbole and over-reaction but I still stand by my point. I loathe Drogba.

Drogba is just a better Bellamy at the end of the day, both dicks on/off the pitch but genius' aswell.
