Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 22 September 2009 Posted 22 September 2009 Drogba is a very good player but I dont like him much. Arguably the best in the Prem.
Uncle Albert Posted 22 September 2009 Posted 22 September 2009 Arguably the best in the Prem. What player or striker? Either way you are wrong.
breadandcheese Posted 22 September 2009 Posted 22 September 2009 Pretty much. He's absolute top quality. Best striker in the league [yes I'd pick him above Torres]. Pace, strength and his finishing is wanking material. He will bully the 2 CB's on his own all day long and win the battle. He's a 6'2 brick wall, which obviously makes his antics rather embarrassing. But I don't care. I'm willing to overlook that cos he's fucking good. Absolutely agree. On his day, i think he is better than Torres and the sort of player you want in a tough match. Class player on the pitch and nice bloke off it. Met him in Tesco last year. Did you actually meet him? I always imagine he gets bad press, but away from the field is a decent bloke who doesn't get the credit he deserves. It's a bit like Vieira or Andy Cole, players who had their own charities and did a lot of work off the pitch, but were instead always known as sulky moody selfish people.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 22 September 2009 Posted 22 September 2009 What player or striker?Either way you are wrong. Striker. Well at least striker in his mould. He is the only striker in the whole of the big 4 who can be considered a target man. He will be deeply missed when the African Nations Cup comes along.

Yeah in his mould but still Torres is a better striker in my opinion the amount of goals he has scored in England with the injuries he has had is unreal for a striker in only his third year. Rooney is certainly up there now he is finding the net more and more. Nah Chelsea will be fine when Drog goes to Africa, last time the African Nations was on Chelsea only dropped two points or something silly like that whilst he was away. La Sulk will get the goals for them.

Well, he was wandering around with his ipod on avoiding people quite successfully - but I ended up stood next to him at the tills. A few folks asked him for an piccy and autograph and he was very friendly quiet spoken chap. kids and wife seemed very nice, and all generally very normal people who happened to drive home in a stunning black Mercedes CL65 AMG. The idea that players on the pitch is anything like their personality off the pitch is an overrated one I think. Just look at Bellamy for example - the last person you might think would be spending over £600k of his own money on football academies for poor kids in Sierra Leone. Most of these playes just put their name to it and get sponsored, but Bellamy stumped up his own cash.
Dave-Pundit Posted 22 September 2009 Posted 22 September 2009 Best striker in the world if he consistantly plays like he's started.
Finnegan Posted 22 September 2009 Posted 22 September 2009 Yeah Ashley Cole is the only player to have a bad attitude when it come's to money. I didn't suggest he was. Drogba is just a better Bellamy at the end of the day, both dicks on/off the pitch but genius' aswell. Wouldn't really describe Bellamy as a genius. He's decent on his day but he's hugely inconsistent. Wouldn't really describe him as a cheat, either, just immensely volatile. I genuinely think he's grown up a lot under Toshack's guidance. He's straight talking, which I like a lot.

Well you singled Cole out. Bellamy is a professional footballer so he is a genius to me and some of the goals he has scored suggest he can be when he wants to be.
Edmund Posted 22 September 2009 Posted 22 September 2009 Well you singled Cole out. Im pretty sure he was responding to my comment in which I mentioned Cole.

Fox92 Posted 22 September 2009 Posted 22 September 2009 He is a very good striker. He holds the ball up, has lots of pace, a superb finisher and lets people come in play. No doubt, he is dramatic and does dive, buts that's only what players do these days, its everywhere. Top player for me.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 22 September 2009 Posted 22 September 2009 Just finishing reading a book about Moscow Dynamo playing a short series of friendlies on British soil in the immediate aftermath of World War II, the first of which was at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea who had just signed England striker Tommy Lawton from Everton for £14,000. 100,000 people packed into the stadium that day to see a 3-3 draw, some of whom stood on the roof of the stands, desperate to witness the exotic Soviets and they were treated to a new-fangled short-passing style that was fairly revolutionary at the time, certainly to English football fans. The Chelsea manager Billy Birrell lent the Dynamos some match balls to train with and they had to fetch some of those from Fulham because they didn't have enough to satisfy the Soviets' desire to warm up with each player using a football instead of just running around the pitch like the English teams did. The differing rules between football in the two countries meant that the Russian goalkeeper Khomin, one of the best goalkeepers in the world, suddenly had to deal with the likes of Lawton legally attempting to shoulder-barge him over the line which he'd never experienced before. When I first read that they had played Chelsea in the opening game of the tour, it immediately brought to mind how cold Chelsea leave me, a vacuum of genuine football passion for the most part and Drogba epitomises this. He will be remembered more for his ludicrously infantile theatrics after the Barcelona semi-final second leg than for any goals, trophies or personal achievements. Whenever I see Chelsea fans wildly celebrating coming from behind with a deflected last-minute winner against Telford Washing Machines, I wonder exactly how proud it makes them that their multi-million pound machine is able to deflate the likes of Burnley and Stoke. We had to experience something similar last season and I felt genuinely proud that the vast majority of our fans managed to enjoy our title with a bit of humility, the obvious example being the respect shown towards Cheltenham. Drogba and Chelsea are well-suited to each other, shameless self-publicists with a total lack of class. (no idea why he keeps mentioning Kaiserslautern...)
Fez of Mahrez Posted 24 September 2009 Posted 24 September 2009 Posted the wrong video . This is the one. KAISERSLAUTERN! KAISERLAUTERN!
Bert Posted 24 September 2009 Posted 24 September 2009 What a bloke. I love him, he's one of the most all round centre forwards in the game, because he has everything. My only gripe about him, is for someone so big and strong, he doesn't half go down so easily, if someone kicked him in the street he wouldn't role around on the floor.

I am naturally biased anyway so I'll overlook his silly antics, and love him for his sublime talent. I love the bloke. Best striker in the Premiership.

Thracian Posted 25 September 2009 Posted 25 September 2009 Immense. The last bloke on Earth I would want to mark.

Guest Posted 25 September 2009 Posted 25 September 2009 This (see how i saved myself typing one letter by the clever use of "this") And then typed several more explaining it
Darkzzz_ Posted 25 September 2009 Posted 25 September 2009 Very good footballer, not the best striker in the world in my opinion but a striker who has so much quality in his locker, a player you'd want to play alongside rather than against. So, the thread says what do we think of Drogba, I think the guy is a complete twat on the field, could be a nice guy off it, I don't know him.
leicesterfox86 Posted 25 September 2009 Author Posted 25 September 2009 Immense. The last bloke on Earth I would want to mark. You some it up perfectley I think. It is not just his obvious ability, but his reputation. Defenders fear him. Rightly so as well!
