FXT Factor 2009

It is that time of year again when voting for songs becomes almost a necessity on Foxes Talk and bitter rivalries are formed in the quest for the FXT Factor title. If you haven't already taken part in this competition or have been oblivious to it for the last 2 years, this post will aim to cover all of the basic rules and regulations of the contest. There are some new rule changes that have been added following last years competition when some flaws were pointed out or complaints made.

How the contest will run:

1. Should you wish to join, you will have to sign up on the auditions thread making sure that you choose, and post, 1 song only and it's YouTube video for the judges to assess. There is no limit to the amount of people that can initially join, but 12 people from the total amount of auditionees will be chosen for the final groups. Should two or more people choose the same song, it is the first person to have chosen the song that it will be accredited to and the other person(s) will have to submit another song or be excluded. This auditions thread MUST be chat free and ALL chat posts deleted by a Foxes Talk administrator to make it easier for the judges to make their decisions when the auditioning period closes.

2. Auditions will last for 1 week and end on Saturday 3rd October 2009 at 20:00 hrs. At which point, no more songs will be included in the judges decisions with all late auditions being ignored. Once the auditioning time period closes, the judges will then go through all of the entries and on the auditions thread, each name all of the acts in order of preference. The 12 acts with the highest overall positioning points, based on where they finish in the judges rankings, then go through to the final groups or live shows as it is called on the X Factor. If there are several acts with the same amount of points and it is not possible to have a definitive top 12, those acts with the same points will have their positions decided by where the songs were placed in the head judge's initial rankings.

3. On Tuesday 7th October 2009 at approximately 20:00 hrs, the 12 finalists and their mentors and groups will be announced leaving around 4 days for the successful auditionees to find their song to put forward for the finals which will start on the 10th October 2009. Each mentor will have 3 contestants in their group at the start of the competition.

4. The structure of the competition is as follows: Each week will have a specific theme to what songs can be chosen and submitted. The contestants will be required to submit a minimum of 2 songs in preference order by 12:00 hrs on the Saturday of the contests week or earlier to their mentor. Should they fail to do so, it will then fall to the mentor of that contestant to choose a song for them to put forward. The submitting of at least 2 songs is to allow for one or more of the songs to be a fallback should their first, second, third etc. choices be taken. If in the unlikely case all the song choices have been taken by other contestants and no time remains to contact and choose another song before the weeks poll opens, it will fall to the mentor to choose a song for the contestant. All mentors will have to liaise with the other mentors on their contestants song choices throughout the week to make sure no doubling of song choices occurs. Once all of the songs have been submitted, at around 18:00 hrs on the Saturday, the poll will be opened for all of the rest of the Foxes Talk members to vote on with 1 song from each contestant going up for voting. The poll will remain open for 30 hours and at 00:00 hrs on Monday, the poll will close and whichever song has the least votes will be eliminated. Should two or more of the songs have the same amount of votes, it will then fall to the judges to publicly say which contestant they are eliminating on the poll thread. Once again, if it is a tie at the end of the voting, it will be the head judges decision that decides the outcome.

5. That will be the format for the competition until we reach the final 5 contestants or, the Quarter-Finals. At which point, a minimum of 4 songs will have to be submitted from each of the remaining contestants in preference order and 2 songs from that will go forward to be voted on. At the end of the polling time for that week, the results of both of the contestants songs will be added together to create a single total figure. The contestant with the lowest overall score will then be eliminated. Again, were there to be a tied vote, the judges would vote on which act to eliminate etc.

6. When it comes to the final of the competition, the remaining 3 contestants will again choose a minimum of 4 songs in preference order with 2 being put forward for voting on, however, a third song will be a mentors decision that they will put forward for their contestant(s).

----------

AUDITIONS: Submit songs for consideration before 20:00 hrs on 3rd October 2009 once the auditions thread opens.

FINALS: Once the competition starts, songs must be submitted by the Saturday of the contests week at 12:00 hrs. Voting will open on that Saturday at 18:00 hrs and will close at 00:00 hrs on the following Monday.

Look Up, Look Out.

I'm in this fo realz this year.

Sorry Smuts, this isn't the auditions thread.

I'll open that in a couple of days so it's open for a week.

Could you please provide more detail?

EDIT: Actually, HOLD ON, why aren't I a judge any more??????????????????????

Unceremoniously booted off the show...

It was decided that as you weren't always around last year and some of the decisions weren't completed fast enough that you would be replaced.

lol

True X Factor style dumping of a judge.

Fair enough. I guess I should take it as a positive that I didn't have the time to properly commit to an internet forum X Factor competition... Although it would have been nice to be consulted.

Fix.

Actually, looking at the judges this year, all anyone will have to do to go through is pick an emo song or anything by Jeff Buckley.

James isn't a judge anymore? Joke! No entry for 'Kokopops. You've just missed out on the next internet X Factor sensation

I was the glue that held this competition together. Two years in a row I put my spreadsheets and calculators away and gave 100% to FTX Factor. And then what happens, Filbo decides I'm not committed enough without even consulting me.

I hope you, Alex, friend, are the first of many to boycott this farce in honour of my forced ommission from proceedings.

Thanks to Filbo really, must have taken ages to write all that and he's explained it really well.

I think more people appreciate what he does than he realises.

Looking forward to the competition.

Well that certainly makes a change to hear. :)

Thank you.

And re the James. situation. I decided that you would be replaced as quite a bit of the time last year, when it came down to submitting songs from your group and having to have a judges vote at the end of the voting period when scores were tied, you weren't always available... now I know very well that people have other things to be doing, but I just felt that we could do with a change and those factors from last year helped me decide...

Sorry if you're disappointed... but you could always enter now and be the first person to win as a judge and mentor... ;)

I'm off to set up a group on Facebook demanding James be brought back.

Might even change my name to Conseula Mejula Dave if we get 1000 members too.
