Guest Mee-9 Posted 26 September 2009 Posted 26 September 2009 7) I as much as anyone looked forward to the return of Tunchev but today, apart from two timely blocks, the man was a liability. A periphery centre-back. Hobbs aerial presence was badly missed and Tunchev's lack of pace and fitness was woefully exposed by the speed and attitude of Preston's counter-attacks. Tunchev was a reliability, were you actually at the game? You take like 30mins to type that essay of bs.
Koke Posted 26 September 2009 Posted 26 September 2009 Tunchev was a reliability, were you actually at the game? You take like 30mins to type that essay of bs. Tunch has a problem dealing with big men. That's his weakness. Chris Brown beat him every single time in the air.
Matt Posted 26 September 2009 Posted 26 September 2009 Neilson = Sums up Scottish football compared to English and Scottish players 'trying' to play in England. Ruuuuubish!
Thracian Posted 26 September 2009 Posted 26 September 2009 Tunch has a problem dealing with big men. That's his weakness. Chris Brown beat him every single time in the air. He's got a problem getting tight on the runners too. On one occasion he allowed a bloke on the East Stand side so much time and space to deliver an unhindered cross the bloke must have wondered if he were part of a computer game. The cross nearly produced a goal too.
Tilley Posted 26 September 2009 Posted 26 September 2009 Agree with Thrac and NSLL, we can't play Gallagher out of position just to accomodate him. I think Tuesday night Gallagher should start up front with Fryatt and Howard should be dropped. Howard was lazy, slow, out of sorts and his usual moaning self today, he needs dropping, simple as. Pearson needs to realise quick that Gallagher isn't a winger and also as Thrac says, playing him in the hole is asking far too much of Neilson. Today Fryatt didn't stop, this was summed up by him being in the left back position winning the ball back in the 86th minute, cracking performance by him and he must have felt like he was the only one trying. I fear for our goals if Fryatt picks up an injury because no one else in the team looks like creating anything or scoring. N'Guessen was absolutely woeful today as he has always been everytime I have seen him play, he fails to beat his man, looks confused when others have the ball about where he is supposed to be (this showed when Oakley was attacking and he just ran next to him until Oakley told him to go on the wing) he is another that needs dropping Tuesday night. The centre back pairing looked like they had never met each other before. Pearson's decision to drop Hobbs completely baffled me, Brown doesn't look half the player he was at the start of the season, some of his clearances are all over the place and his pace, or lack of, leaves alot to be desired. Tunchev as good as he is, isn't fit, that is clear to see, he was back to his old tricks of holding onto his man and in the end will pay for this. I will go out on a limb and say I would like to see Hobbs & Morrison Tuesday night. Pearson got his team selection and tactics completely wrong. Preston were strong, quick and very clever on the break, they got the ball down and played some good stuff, something I'd like to see us do a hell of alot more instead of just frigging hoofing it, something I think will be eliminated if Howard is dropped. Weale Neilson Morrison Hobbs BernerAdams Oakleys Wellens DyerFryatt Gallagher That is what I'd like to see Tuesday night.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 26 September 2009 Posted 26 September 2009 Worst display I have seen in a long, long time. We were out fought, out played, out classed and out muscled in every area. Soon as the game kicked off they were quicker to the ball, harder in the challenges and we always most likely to score first. Both centre backs had shockers today. Brown has now had 4 poor games in a row and should be dropped, whilst Tunchev could not deal with that big bastard who won everything in the air. I have thought Neilson was harshly used as a scapegoat a few times earlier on, but today he was woeful. He was never in position, crap going forward and stupidly had two or three dreadful shots. I would like to know why Gallagher is in the team? He is a good player but as a striker. He was on the left for most of the game and always seems a bit useless as he never runs at people or puts decent balls in. I think he is getting picked because he was a mney signing and NP almost feels he has to be played. Would rather have Dyer or Adams who are natural wingers. The midfield looked poor, probably because Wellens was not fit, but they seemed to be first to every ball and got up the pitch quicker. If Wellens still is not fully fit surely King will have to play on Tuesday. Up front we didnt really look like scoring at all. Howard won a few headers but looked poor again, and decided because Gallagher was never on the left or covering out wide, he had to go back and sit in midfield. He had a header in the first half which really should have been on target.
Guest Posted 26 September 2009 Posted 26 September 2009 To think I tried using emotional blackmail with East Midlands Trains to try and ensure I made kick off. My performance at St Pancreas station was better than what I saw at the Walkers today. And to anyone who wants to blag their way onto an earlier train, don't bother. They really are heartless. Last rites won't even move them.

THAT WILL NOT WORK IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP!!! - I'd play a quick player alongside Fryatt - I'd still make amends with DJ and give him a chance - why is Pearson such a stubborn fooker!! if he continues with his favourite players, rather than using the best players to win a game, I can see a run of losses around the corner...
Koke Posted 26 September 2009 Posted 26 September 2009 FFS has he learnt nothing from the Rhianna incident Giggled like Muttley
ousefox Posted 26 September 2009 Posted 26 September 2009 I am still fuming from today. We were absolutely fuvking shite! The players looked in all honestly, like they could not be arsed. We were not getting into players and there was no urgency at all at 1-0 down or even 2-0 down. Pearson got it all wrong i'm afraid to say. Gallagher should never play on the left wing ever again. He is a good player but he simply does not fit into our team there. Also very dissapointed with Howard. He got a couple of flick ons and that was it. Neilson was just shit and i would like us to try and get Gilbert back. On the plus side. Kermorgant looked reasonably good and Berner did quite well.
Salieri Posted 26 September 2009 Author Posted 26 September 2009 Interesting reading the thoughts of the people who attended the game. It seems the general concensus that the team needs a bit of a shake up to say the least. The names that keep cropping up in regards to being dropped are Neilson, Brown, Howard and N'Guessan. Plus Gallagher needs to either be dropped or played up front, he's clearly not cut out to be a winger. Therefore the team in my opinion should look something like this (obviously depending on players fitness) : GK Weale LB Berner CB Hobbs CB Tunchev RB Morrison LM Adams CM Oakley CM Wellens RM Gradel ST Fryatt ST Kermorgant Morrison is obviously not a natural RB, but who else is there, O'Neill? Brown needs a rest and if Morrision comes in at RB then its gotta be Hobbs/Tunch in the centre. I still think Oakley and Wellens are our best two central midfielders, its out wide where we're struggling. N'Guessan, despite his goals has been erratic at best. Dyer looks out of sorts. Adams should definitely be given a proper go. That leaves the enigmatic Gradel, who, if (and its a big if) is fit enough to start a game should be worth a punt. Up top, Fryatt should of course stay in the team whereas Howard (and i have always been a fan of his) needs to be dropped at this point, he'll come back stronger for it i'm sure. The possible replacements are queueing up, Kermorgant, Waghorn, Gallagher, even Campbell buts thats not gonna happen! It sounds like Kermo gave a good account of himself in his cameo appearance and i'd give him a start against Boro. All in all, NP has some big decisions to make. He needs to recognise the errors he has made in recent games and put things right. Admitting when you've got things wrong and making changes to put it right is an attribute needed to become a top manager, which i still think he could be. It's a setback today, and the end of a hugely impressive unbeaten home record. But, its very early days and its not the time for doom and gloom, we can still have a very good season if Nige is brave enough to make some big calls.

It's al right making changes but that seems far to many and with potentially 5 players not match fit plus Wellens who also wasn't up to it today not something I'd like to see.

Whats happened to him, he hasn't been in the squad for a while? Anyone know at all?
Ozwin Posted 26 September 2009 Posted 26 September 2009 He's too busy promoting the Foxes Card to play pesky football.
ousefox Posted 26 September 2009 Posted 26 September 2009 I wish Adams could be given more of a chance. Gradel also needs to be given a chance to at least get into the squad.

samjohnson Posted 26 September 2009 Posted 26 September 2009 The defence was all over the place The strikers couldnt shoot down towards goal (i think theyve been training with the Tigers) The referee was one of the worst ive ever encountered... Absolute Shite...

It is a lot of changes, granted. But Howard, Brown, Neilson and N'Guessan are not performing, that is fact. I wouldnt include Gallagher amongst those names because i think in the right position (up front or behind the front two) would be an asset to the team. If Wellens is struggling then he shouldn't play against Middlesboro so i would take him out of the team i selected. If we risked him and he got injured, that would be a huge blow as i think he is a major player for us this year. Andy King would be the natural player to fill in. It is a tough call, and wholesale changes are not always advisable. But, if players are not performing and we have some decent alternatives then we have to utilise the squad that we've got. I'm just glad i'm not the manager!
ousefox Posted 26 September 2009 Posted 26 September 2009 Was anyone else a bit dissapointed with the attendence? We had about 800 less than when we played Posh and that was a tuesday night! We also had 6000 less than Swansea, though admittedly that was the first game of the season.
maddog Posted 26 September 2009 Posted 26 September 2009 -------------------------GK-------------------------------Tunchev---Hobbs---Brown---------- Nielson----------------------------------Berner ------------Wellens----------Oakley----------- --------------------Gallagher------------------- ------------Howard-----------Fryatt------------ Yeah baby. That would leave Berner and Neilson caught when going forward and we would be screwed like today. Brown, Neilson, Howard, Gallagher (unless up front) all should be dropped if thats possible. Id even consider dropping Oakley. It just shows how thin our squad is, and if Pearsons chosen men fail like today, we are fooked.
Alf Bentley Posted 26 September 2009 Posted 26 September 2009 I reckon people need to get a grip here! It was a patchy performance: some good things and some bad. However, we were playing one of the better teams in the division, when our best midfielder (Wellens) was not fully fit and our best defender (Tunchev) was returning from a long injury absence. Overall, PNE were the solider, more organised side, but we still showed real quality at times - and ended up losing to a defensive error and a breakaway goal, magnified by the fact that a number of chances were missed. I get the impression that there are a few people on here (not everyone, of course) who are following the trend at places like Arsenal and Villa - and expecting to play like Brazil and win 5-0 every week! Some tactical tinkering is required, 1 or 2 players need to recover full match fitness, 1 or 2 need to sharpen their act up a bit....but that's football! LCFC have come a long way in a year-odd and are still moving forward. Faith, brothers and sisters!
philce Posted 26 September 2009 Posted 26 September 2009 Is Gradel even in England these days? It's so long since I've seen him. Raj rekoned he saw him with his wife and kiddie before the game. Then again Raj sees lots of things that noone else sees!
