Summer Targets Thread, worth a dabble?

Sheffield United have transfer-listed Rob Kozluk, Nick Montgomery, Andy Liddell, Danny Cadamarteri, Paul Shaw, Paul Thirlwell and Luke Beckett.

Manager Neil Warnock told United's website: "It doesn't necessarily mean that these lads will immediately leave.

"But we cannot guarantee them first-team football and would like to make clubs aware they are available.

"They still form part of the squad but may be sacraficed to bring in other new players or talented youngsters."

The versatile Kozluk, 27, is the Blades' longest serving player having made almost 200 appearances since joining from Derby in 1999.

Kozluk? Worth a shot?

Remember when Danny Cadamarteri was supposed to be the next big thing? Maybe he could rejuvenate his career alongside Connelly? He's got to better than De Vries!

Having seen these players quite a few times and hearing Sheffielders opinions on them, I don't think any of them would add anything to our squad other than depth. Out of all of them, Liddell may be a decent acquisition for some width on the right in case we needed it against someone, but I doubt whether he would be content with sitting on the bench.

I kind of follow Sheff's fortunes cos my housemate is a fan and we had a lot of good-natured banter during the first year of uni when they looked like they might push us for second place. I've got a real soft spot for them now, despite Warnock being in charge. Agree with Sheff Fox that the only worthwhile signing would be Liddell, he's always looked pretty good when I've seen him. Downside is he is 32 years old and we have just signed Sylla to play on the right wing so it looks unlikely. More a case of "he would do" than "he is the man for us" I think.

I think Oxford's Wales Under 21 striker Craig Davies would be a good target. He's available for £100,000 and Charlton are sniffing round him. I personally think he'd rather get potential first team football with the mighty blues than that shower of shite.

Jason St'Juste is a player who maybe worth a look. He plays for Darlington and is quick and tricky although perhaps a bit lightweight. I'm pretty sure he plays left wing.

Sky sports have a article about him being linked with Southampton much to the surprise of Southampton, Darlington and St Juste.

One that got away:

Dundee United have completed the signing of Lee Miller from Bristol City.

The 22-year-old has sealed his £225,000 move to Tannadice after completing his medical.

Both Hearts - the club Miller spent time on loan at last season - and Aberdeen had bids accepted for the striker, but he decided on a move to Tayside where he will link-up with Gordon Chisholm - who was assistant boss when he was at Falkirk.

"Lee is a player I know very well from our time together at Falkirk and is exactly the type of player that I think we need," said Chisholm.

"He will provide us with a different option going forward and, I believe, add value to the squad."

Don't know if this has been mentioned, but Lee Clark from Fulham on a free, he is a captain and I think he is left footed, so he could play left midfield and it would suit Levein as he likes one side to be narrow.

Charlton signs Darren Bent. I wish Bent would be playing for us. He s great. Bent-Connoly what a partnership.

Good shout. There's no way we could've got close to affording him though :(

£225,000 for a 22 year old international. I'm very surprised we didn't put a bid in for him, it obviously shows how little money we have. Dundee United have down well to get him, i'm extremely surprised he's ended up there.

Looks as though Ian Evatt is off to QPR, but i'd have gone for him. Can play in defence or midfield, commanding defender and a danger from set pieces, not too costly either.

The other one i've noticed is Ben Futcher, i know Alex and others will know more than me but he gets a few goals and is pretty tall. Only problem is that Lincoln seem to be more direct, so he might be like Heath. Out of contract and a decent age though, anyone think he can make the step up?

Just got a phone call from my friend who's a huge Lincoln fan.

Ben Futcher's decided to move to "further his career" by moving to Boston, Lincoln's biggest rivals who've finished below Lincoln every season they've been in the football league.

He was absolutely seething, as was Lincoln manager Keith Alexander

Alexander, speaking exclusively to RedImps.com, had offered Futcher a lucrative new deal to stop at Sincil Bank but, on discovering that he had agreed a two-year contract with Boston United, he couldn't hide his feelings.

"I am absolutely amazed at Ben's decision to move to Boston," he said.

"In my eyes it shows a definite lack of ambition on his behalf, with the money being offered to him clearly playing a major part in his decision to leave."

So looks like he's out of the question

Yeah, i was surprised to see he'd gone to Boston. They were decent with Andy Kirk but weren't up to much without him, and both times still trailed Lincoln in the league. Alexander's comments are spot on by the sounds of it.

Sam Parkin at Swindon has a clause in his contract that can let him move to a bigger club for quite a smallish fee. Not entirely sure how much, but I imagine it wouldn't be more than £250,000. He has all the credentials to make it at a higher level.

Michael Chopra might be up for grabs aswell, always rated him.

Spot on hoof... Couldnt agree more. Parkin preferably but Chopra has always been a good little player.

I'd love to see us get Parkin, he's still fairly young and would be a perfect foil for Connolly, and it's always nice to get an Englishman in.
