Edmund Posted 11 October 2009 Posted 11 October 2009 Lincoln City manager Chris Sutton says midfielder Stefan Oakes is the most talented player in League Two.Sutton handed Oakes the captain's armband for the 1-0 victory over Aldershot Town, a role he is expected to retain for the trip to Macclesfield. He told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "In this league, I don't think there's anyone with Stefan Oakes' talent. "I think he's a fantastic player and has got a left foot players in higher divisions would dream of." Sutton added: "I want to get the best out of him - I want to win games - and a fit Stefan Oakes would be a fantastic asset to Lincoln City. Oakes, 31, who began his career at Leicester City had been placed on the transfer list by previous manager Peter Jackson after struggling last season. He joined Lincoln from Wycombe on a free transfer in June 2008. Didn't realise he was still playing to be honest.
AjcW Posted 11 October 2009 Posted 11 October 2009 Didn't realise he was still playing to be honest. He's obviously not seen that lad in midfield for notts county. Ben Davies.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 11 October 2009 Posted 11 October 2009 Or Johnnie Jackson. Had to serve him at work the other week though. Fair play to him, have you seen his missus? Respect gained. Driving off with S73FO as his number plate? Respect lost.
Lillehamring Posted 12 October 2009 Posted 12 October 2009 i remember watching him in the reserves and youth team down filbert street, when he was good he was very good, but he drifted out of games... don't think he ever had the right guidance, otherwise he could have made it i reckon.
Webbo Posted 12 October 2009 Posted 12 October 2009 He could cross a ball with his left foot as well as Beckham could with his right. The problem with Oakes was that was all he could do. He had no pace, couldn't beat a man, couldn't tackle, was lazy and thick. He's just about at the right level.
Tommy G Posted 12 October 2009 Posted 12 October 2009 Or Johnnie Jackson. Had to serve him at work the other week though. Fair play to him, have you seen his missus? Respect gained. Driving off with S73FO as his number plate? Respect lost. He's a footballer? It's easy to pull anyone. I bet even Luke Chadwick as a decent bird. As for his number plate, i think thats quite decent. if you've got money to waste then you may aswell waste it on a private plate!
Edmund Posted 12 October 2009 Author Posted 12 October 2009 don't think he ever had the right guidance, otherwise he could have made it i reckon. He was guided under Mon. Take it back. I'll always remember that free kick he scored against Sunderland on the same day Collymore got that hat trick. Was a quality goal as I remember.

I don't give a shit if he's a footballer! Respect gained.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 12 October 2009 Posted 12 October 2009 I think he was really finidhed with us when MON left. I rated him and so did MON. When he left he wasnt the same player and ended up getting lower league football as a result. Should be good at that level, I mean not many people down there have a League Cup winners medal and been in a European side.
Corky Posted 12 October 2009 Posted 12 October 2009 He was guided under Mon. Take it back. I'll always remember that free kick he scored against Sunderland on the same day Collymore got that hat trick. Was a quality goal as I remember. Took a massive deflection I remember his shot that hit the post in the Cup semi-final against Villa. So unlucky.

You mean at City by that right? Saying he hasn't made it as a player is nonsense. Being a big part of our cup winning side was a tremendous ahievement and racking up over 250 appearances isn't a bad return for someone of 31 especially at clubs like Notts County, Wycombe and Lincoln. He's hardly given up, and drifted off the footballing scene like 80% of our youth products of the last 10 years.
lavrentis Posted 12 October 2009 Posted 12 October 2009 Lazy bastard who only passes sideways apparently
