Bert Posted 14 October 2009 Posted 14 October 2009 Capello has just said there's 7 places up for grabs, meaning he's definitely got 16 already picked. Who do you think they are?
lildave3 Posted 14 October 2009 Posted 14 October 2009 James Green Johnson Terry Ferdinand Bridge Cole Lescott Beckham Lampard Gerrard Barry Lennon Rooney Heskey Defoe
sdb Posted 14 October 2009 Posted 14 October 2009 similar to ld3 but Upson instead of Lescott. Wouldn't be 100% on Lennon or Heskey either although i'd be amazed if they didn't go. And I can;t think of alternatives
James. Posted 14 October 2009 Posted 14 October 2009 While Crouch might not be a definite for Capello I really don't see how he can't be taken to South Africa.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 14 October 2009 Posted 14 October 2009 Matthew Upson deserves a place.
Cobbo Posted 14 October 2009 Posted 14 October 2009 similar to ld3 but Upson instead of Lescott. Wouldn't be 100% on Lennon or Heskey either although i'd be amazed if they didn't go. And I can;t think of alternatives I would say I am 100% on Lennon. No left back in the world wants to face that.
sdb Posted 14 October 2009 Posted 14 October 2009 I would say I am 100% on Lennon. No left back in the world wants to face that. I'm not saying he shouldn't go. I'm saying I don't think he's a certainty yet. Walcott, SWP and Beckham all going for that spot (3 will make the squad but it's not certain which one wont).
dandannieldanok Posted 14 October 2009 Posted 14 October 2009 How anyone can be assured of a place over 8 months before the thing starts is ludicrous, never mind 16 players!
Cobbo Posted 14 October 2009 Posted 14 October 2009 How anyone can be assured of a place over 8 months before the thing starts is ludicrous, never mind 16 players! Well if you're good at sucking, I reckon you're gonna be in.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 14 October 2009 Posted 14 October 2009 Still think if he can get fit Hargreaves can nick a place due to the fact he is versatile and can play RB as well as the holding role. I think Milner will get a place too, but think SWP and Agbonlahor will miss out,
Uncle Albert Posted 15 October 2009 Posted 15 October 2009 I wouldnt say Beckham is one of them 16 - he has alot to prove when he goes to AC Milan. James - Green Johnson - Terry - Upson - Ferdinand - Cole - Bridge Lennon - Barry - Gerrard - Lampard Rooney - Crouch - Heskey - Defoe
Joe. Posted 15 October 2009 Posted 15 October 2009 I think Beckham is nailed on to go, sadly. So do I, especially considering he's going back to Milan soon enough. To echo what James said earlier in the thread, there surely has to be a place for Crouch with his scoring record for us.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 15 October 2009 Posted 15 October 2009 I think Beckham is nailed on to go, sadly. Gayboy.
Samilktray Posted 15 October 2009 Posted 15 October 2009 If Beckham and D Bent dont go I'll be livid.
Budweiser Posted 15 October 2009 Posted 15 October 2009 If Beckham and D Bent dont go I'll be livid. Not particularly bothered about Bent, though he does score everywhere he goes. Hargreaves Foster
Uncle Albert Posted 15 October 2009 Posted 15 October 2009 Yeah I think Beckham will be there and I hope he is but I dont think he will be one of his 16. The 16 will surely be players who Capello has been watching in the Premier League. Crouch has to go to the World Cup.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 15 October 2009 Posted 15 October 2009 How many strikers will be there? Four or five? Rooney, Crouch, Heskey, Defoe will be the four that will take priority I think. Micky Owen and Bent are on the fringe, depends what their seasons are like really.

Koke Posted 15 October 2009 Posted 15 October 2009 I hope Hargreaves gets fully fit. He's much better than Barry IMO.
Joe. Posted 15 October 2009 Posted 15 October 2009 16 definites: James, Green Johnson, Terry, Ferdinand, Cole, Upson, Bridge Barry, Lampard, Gerrard, Lennon Rooney, Defoe, Crouch, Heskey
Fox You Forest Posted 15 October 2009 Posted 15 October 2009 I hope Hargreaves gets fully fit. He's much better than Barry IMO. I agree.
Uncle Albert Posted 16 October 2009 Posted 16 October 2009 There is no chance in hell that Hargreaves will get in over Barry at the World Cup. Hargreaves will be lucky if he gets a sniff at a place on the plane. At the moment Gerarrd, Lampard, Barry and Carrick are all ahead of Hargreaves and you would think Capello will only be taking 4 central midfielders.
