Fox92 Posted 25 November 2009 Posted 25 November 2009 You can't compare the two in terms of their playing ability, they play in completely different positions. I know that, just in term of "National Hero"
Samilktray Posted 25 November 2009 Posted 25 November 2009 David Beckham will go down as 1 of the true English Greats.
Webbo Posted 25 November 2009 Posted 25 November 2009 I'm the only one who thinks he should be able to do what he wants (for once) then He doesn't owe the world anything, he's done plenty for charity in his time, if he wants to deal with having astehma in his own way fair play. No that's totally unacceptable, he has no right to any kind of private life at all. He should be forced to walk around in a tee shirt saying 'I have asthma' on it.
Fosse Boy Posted 25 November 2009 Posted 25 November 2009 David Beckham will go down as 1 of the true English Greats. No question he's the best English player of this generation. But who's done more for England, Becks or Shilton?
lildave3 Posted 25 November 2009 Posted 25 November 2009 No question he's the best English player of this generation. But who's done more for England, Becks or Shilton? Well I like Becks, but I also like Shilton...But which one is better?
Guest Posted 25 November 2009 Posted 25 November 2009 No that's totally unacceptable, he has no right to any kind of private life at all. He should be forced to walk around in a tee shirt saying 'I have asthma' on it. And now you're taking it out of context.

Fox92 Posted 25 November 2009 Posted 25 November 2009 David Beckham will go down as 1 of the true English Greats. He came 33rd out of 100 in the 'Greatest Britons of All Time'. He was beaten by proper heroes though such as Michael Crawford (17th), Alan Turing (21st), David Bowie (29th), Sir Winston Churchill (1st) and of course John Lennon (8th). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/100_Greatest_Britons

Webbo Posted 25 November 2009 Posted 25 November 2009 I have to say that (and I'm as guilty as anyone) we do discuss some tediously unimportant shite on this site.
lildave3 Posted 25 November 2009 Posted 25 November 2009 Herein lies the question. Obviously you don't watch Harry Hill Where's Libertine, he'll help me out here. As it happens, i'm not Beckhams biggest fan at all.
Jimothy Posted 25 November 2009 Author Posted 25 November 2009 Seen a few people mention that Beckham single handedly got us to the world cup. Guess you're all talking about the Greece game. Yes it was a great last minute free-kick. Perfectly excecuted, right in the top corner and totally unsavable. But if any one of you can get a video of the game, watch it. Beckham had a decent game, ran round alot and was generally an inspiration, but he missed about 10 very scorable free-kick and messed up nearly as many corners. If he had delivered a couple of those corners into a better area, or scored 1 or 2 of those free-kicks then we wouldn't have needed him to score the last minute one. It was a great Hollywood moment, and one everyone remembers it, but he didn't single handedly get us the the World Cup, in fact he nearly single handedly made us miss it.

Without him taking that free-kick, we wouldn't have got there. He was there. He stepped up to the plate and delivered. Fucking awesome moment for him, the team and the fans.
lavrentis Posted 25 November 2009 Posted 25 November 2009 Well I like Becks, but I also like Shilton...But which one is better? There's only one way to find out?

ob1kanobe0 Posted 26 November 2009 Posted 26 November 2009 How the hell did this not have its lid knocked off.
Fosse Boy Posted 26 November 2009 Posted 26 November 2009 Savage Garden > Harry Hill > Shilton > Beckham.
ozleicester Posted 26 November 2009 Posted 26 November 2009 Im too lazy to go back and check, but i couldve sworn he mentioned the Asthma in his book? edit, I think Beckham is a superstar of the game, and from all ive seen and read a decent bloke. To see and feel the reaction at Wembley when he came on was incredible... and i have no doubt that the side lifted as soon as he set foot on the pitch. Better than Shilts?... no comparison, different players in a different time. IMO, If he gets the record, he sure as hell deserves it.
Fosse Boy Posted 28 November 2009 Posted 28 November 2009 I hope Rooney gets more caps than Beckham. Why?
Fox92 Posted 28 November 2009 Posted 28 November 2009 Why? I dislike Beckham and Rooney is a legend and overall a bigger and better player than Beckham (although they play in different positions)
Samilktray Posted 28 November 2009 Posted 28 November 2009 Rooney is a legend This clown dont half bring it on himself sometimes.
