Scunny Post Match

Absolutely gutted with that, a win there would have been superb for us with Newcastle and West Brom both winning. Every time Sky Sports went over to Peter Beagrie he said we were in complete control. Not happy.

Arse...

its the same old same old!!!!!! look at Newcastle's win - 3-0, look at West Brom's win - 4-0 - City, although solid and well organised DO NOT SCORE ENOUGH GOALS!!! to push for promotion - Fryatt missed another sitter today - just think what we could have done and where we could have been if we had scored more goals this season - TOP!

for me, Nige needs to address this in the transfer window - a really good striker could be the difference between promotion or not come the end of the season............

This is not knocking Pearson, who, lets face it, has done superbly so far - its just so frustrating to play so well and not to be killing sides off because we DO NOT finish enough chances

Posted

Fryatt didn't miss that one on one, his shot was deflected by the recovering defender, and Murphy had to do very well to fall backwards and claw it out. You can't criticise Fryatt there, he was unlucky not to score that one.

I went to the Forest match today, 4-1 flattered them. They were poor in the first half. I don't think we'll be that badly off against them last week, they looked very light in midfield in particular.

I agree in an ideal situation we need that extra potency in the the final third but lets not forget West Brom and Newcastle have just come down from the prem and possess great players. We've just come from league 1.

Lets not get blinded by our own success.

I'm not happy with the what happened today but I'm still happy with way things are going.

No need to panic.

how many times have we heard that on here this season!!

Fratt had done well, but his ratio of chances to goals remains poor

Is Fryatt's goals to chances ratio really that bad? He got 1 clear chance today, 1 chance against Plymouth too. It's not like he's missing boat loads of chances is it? And in 3 matches this season, he's bagged 2 in a single game.

He was brilliant today, really gave their back four trouble. Getting more and more disappointed in Gallacher, he's physically weak, can't tackle...so god knows where he's been employed in midfield.

Fryatt's getting increasingly frustated.

Fryatt has scored a ridiculous amount of goals over the last two seasons. He's going to miss chances because he's human, if he did score every chance he'd be hitting over 50 a season and be the best player in the world!

WE HAVE TO START TAKING OUR CHANCES!

I don't know how many times I need to say this :frusty: :frusty: :frusty:

Don't get me wrong normally a point away is a marvelous result, and don't get me wrong our strikers have done a great job last season and this season but come on from what I heard and what people on Sky and BBC were saying we could and should have been 4-0 up in the first half, We have to take those chances, As I said don't get me wrong the strikers we have have done a great job, but despite doing a great job, it's not good enough, obviously.

I don't want to get an argument but if we get the bid for the world cup and our stadium is selected - We need to extend it, where is this money to extend the stadium coming from? Milan? Council? F.A/Government grant? If it's coming from Milan - And i'd think some of it atleast would be coming from him, Fuck that idea off and with that money - Presumably it's be a decent amount, Get a decent goalscorer, Please. I'm not blaming today solely on the strikers, and it's probably looks like it but i'm not slagging the striker off, they are playing well, they are at their best, possibly playing above their level - But i'm afraid it worries me and need changing IMO.

Somehow we are still third, I'm worried now going into the Forest game with them scoring, and us not scoring many, on the other hand they might be on a high ready to be knocked down, and they might be the victims of our backlash.

Disappointed.

just dont agree - I'd much rather see Beckford, Cox up up top for us than Fryatt - the frustrating thing with City this season is we have made soooooooooo many chances, and not taken enough of them - wake up and smell the coffee! Pearson has been fantastic in what he has done for City who were utter Shit under Ollie...but, a key striker is what we are missing to take us to the next level - I hope Milan puts his hand in his pocket and buys someone (Beckford?) in the transfer window - if he does, I think we will go up, if not, we wont.. simple as

Seriously those substitutions, what the fook was he thinking. We needed some composure on the ball someone who can pass and keep posession slow the game down and see out the win. Surely we were crying out for Oakley to come on for either Kermit, Gallagher, Waghorn or Fryatt (probably Fryatt but that's not important) the other choice would be to bring on Morrison in place of one of our attacking players to sure us up defensively, either as a 3rd centre back or to play in front of the back 4. Or bring on Morrison or Mcgivern to sure us up on the flanks alongside Neilson and Berner.

This is not the first time I have wondered about NPs substsitutions, and I feel bad questioning anything he does, because he has been a revelation for this club, and is still relatively new to management but surely it was obvious that our problem was we couldn't keep hold of the ball in the last half an hour and how he thought Howard or DNG were going to solve that is beyond me.

I could see that goal coming and it was a lucky goal for them but we should never have let them build up that much pressure.

(I still love you Nige)

great post, and YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT

ok,

this was not about poor defending, for 92 minutes we were rock solid, and even then the goal was kind of a freak goal.

this was not about the ref, tho he gave them a lot and could easily have red carded one of their players

this was not about the subs

and this was definately not about the strikers - their keeper made two top class saves

...scunny maybe low in the league but they had the fourth best home record, and played some lovely pass and move footy in the midfield, only their poor final ball and our resolute defending kept it at 0-1 for so long. they were, IMO the better footballing side.

this was about us scoring early and sitting back just trying to play on the counter. this was about scunny's decent home midfield overwhelming what turned into something akin to a 4-2-2-2 formation for us.

for 90 minutes after we scored, we did what plymouth did last week, put 10 men behind the ball, and they did what we did last week, they eventually had a bit of luck and sneaked a late goal.

it feels weird, i should be gutted, but i feel like we picked up a point in a game we deserved nothing more from....

You mean other than than the goal, fryatts shot that was saved, kermits header and several others.

[/quote-----If we only had one shot on target how was their golie man of the match

Well then you're a total fooking moron. The grass is always greener.

We had FOUR strikers on the pitch today, Pearson needs to realise this isn't going to guarantee goals.

I'd much rather use a system of two pacey wingers and two out and out strikers up top instead of a Holloway esque approach of throw every striker on and not worry about positions all that much.

Finally, Howard should be no where near the team.

I don't know how many times I need to say this :frusty: :frusty: :frusty:

The reason we weren't 3-0 up at half time is because the keeper pulled off 2 blinding saves and s****horpe defended very doggedly it was not a great performance, but our problem was in the midfield, not enough composure on the ball, a couple of nice passes and a bit of movement would usually breakdown with an aimless punt* or having to knock it back to the defenders. 4 strikers on the pitch is 2 too many, playing with wide men gives us more options rather than trying to play down the middle all the time.

*Admittedly a few of these came off and Fryatt and Waggy looked very dangerous playing off the shoulders of the defenders pouncing on these punts forward. Although sometimes I thought they got in each others way a couple of times and are maybe too similar to play together.

Swings and roundabouts....been countless occasions where he's made brilli

Exactly, people are quick to forget the countless substitutions that have really made an impact for us this season. I can't particularly see the problem with the substitutions today anyway - switching two forwards for another two forwards (who are bigger and stronger) seems logical to me?

This match thread is reminding me a tad of Swindon away last season....he just had one of those spells today. Howard was there to hold it up and N'Guessan to stretch the tired back four. The mistake we made was losing the ball with seconds left. We are having a super season and the league hasn't changed much at all. We're due a performance next week IMHO.
