bigneville Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 Kerrea Gilbert To Leave Arsenal For Leicester? Not sure how trust-worthy the source is, but i'd love to see him return.
haraven Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 He did well for us, and is definately someone who would strengthen us.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 Hmmm, True or not, £750k for a player in a position where we already have Neilsen, Morrison and O'Neill is far too much money, or is that just me? Surely money like that could be better spent elsewhere? The fact we already have three players at the right side, plus the £750k fee mentioned does indicate it could be a pile of billy bollocks, but you never know.
teblin Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 Looks like this is in more than one paper so there could be something in it!
MC Prussian Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 Neilson's not bad, but not the fastest and gets found out on the right too often. Morrison is no real right-back. O'Neill hasn't made it to the first team yet. In that regard, getting Gilbert back does make sense. And he did do that side some good.
marbelladave Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 Yes please......... :fc: Morrison and Hobbs in the center.
Babylon Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 Maybe Pearson is having a case of Martin Allens Rightbackitis. Would give us a completely different option at right back and some much needed pace to the team.
Guest Bilo Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 Maybe Pearson is having a case of Martin Allens Rightbackitis.Would give us a completely different option at right back and some much needed pace to the team. Plus Gilbert has a much more attacking instinct than either Neilson or Morrison. He also linked up very well with Gradel last season when they played together, and proved himself a decent crosser of the ball. He seemed to love it here so I imagine he'd be keen to return too. My only concern would be the relative inexperience of a back four containing Hobbs, Morrison and Gilbert.
Fox92 Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 We certainly need a right back that will get forward. Ok, I love Nielson and he is perhaps better at defending than Gilbert was, but he doesn't get forward enough. Gilbert would give us that. Not sure about the source and 750k though.

Fox92 Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 Well look at it, he gets stuck in constantly, he's alright in the air, ok he's not that great at getting forward but all this 'Nielson is rubbish' stuff is well, rubbish.

Dames Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 Played in the Champs League this season, when was the last time you can say a player at Leicester has done that? He would be a decent improvement on Neilson and he also has pace which the team desperately lacks.
Lillehamring Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 Now you are getting mixed up.The most outstanding player is Wellens and the hairy bag of shite is Weale. really? apart from SW, when did wellens last have a good game? apart from the forest and bristol games weale hasn't put a foot wrong, reflected in him being the fifth rated keeper in the league: anyway, this is about right backs and whilst i've seen some good performances from neilsen, there's enough to indicate that he isn't that special, as for gilbert, well, he was ok without being spectacular in L1, i'm not sure he'd be that much better than what we have now...
RowlattsFox Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 Well I personally thought Gilbert was over-rated last season, lucky for him that hes got pace because it got him out so many situations. I'm not sure whether that will work all the time at this level. Considering he's came through the Arsenal academy I thought he was very poor on the ball, and in attacking areas he didn't have much idea what to do and turned back a lot. Saying that though I'd be willing to give him a go, think the quoted price is a bit much, but he has the pace that we need. I'm not a Neilson-hater, he's a limited footballer yes, but is not as bad as some people make out, in my opinion of course.

This is my main gripe. Get Gilbert back if we need him, but £750k? I still maintain that that's an awful lot of money for a position which we already have three people for. Granted, we have more than three attackers, but still, we could do with a good up-front man over another right-back. If we offloaded Neilsen (and I don't see there being too much basis to do that), or loaned out O'Neill, then maybe. But we haven't got bottomless pockets, and £750k is a fair wedge.
FoxesFan123 Posted 16 December 2009 Posted 16 December 2009 I don't understand how people are saying we have enough options at right-back. Remeber, Morrison is a centre back. OK, he's doing well at right back when he has to, but I remember a couple of time at the start of last season when he played there and got turned inside out. Bottom line is he is a centre back. In the case of O'Neil, we have no idea how he would fare in a first team Championship game. He is still a youngster, he could be the next Tommy Goodwin for all we know.

Morrison isn't a championship right back at all, maybe not yet at least. I've never seen O'Neil play so I can have no comment on him. Maybe get Gilbert back in on a similar basis to Brown last year, initial loan deal then option to buy in the summer?
