BedsFox Posted 26 December 2009 Posted 26 December 2009 TV, sadly Weale 8. One or two tricky moments on crosses but a decent game Nielsen 7 Solid without impressing overly, but that's fine. Morrison 8 What a goal that long shot would have been, we have a player here Hobbs 7 Early injury, lets hope its nothing serious McGivern 7 Filled in manfully second half at CB, positionally still poor at LB Oakley 7.5 Excellent deliveries from corners Wellens 7.5 Sprayed it around very nicely, part of a very good midfield 4 King 8 Fine performance, helped back four out a lot second half Dyer 9 Fantastic game I thought, real pace and trickery on the ball Fryatt 8.5 Excellent game, worried them silly with close control Howard 7.5 Good flick ons, decent performance O'Neill 6 Looked out of his depth, but up against a tough opponent in Ward, and playing out of position too
Guest Mee-9 Posted 26 December 2009 Posted 26 December 2009 At the Game Weale 8. Some outstanding saves, played well Neilson 7 Solid Morrison 8 Played very well, Filled Brown's shoes excellently. Hobbs 7 Was playing well, hopefully he isn't badly injured McGivern 6 This guy is shakey, Not a fan of him. Oakley 8 Great crosses Wellens 7.5 Shifted the ball around well in the middle of the pitch King 8 Really beginning to notice how much King tidys up possesion Dyer 10 EXCELLENT, The reception he got when he was subbed summed his performance up - MoM Fryatt 8 - Played well yet again Howard 8 - Impressive, seemed solid yet again O'Neill 5 - Kids well out his depth.
the buckwheat Posted 26 December 2009 Posted 26 December 2009 Weale 6.5 Nielsen 6 Morrison 7 Hobbs 7 McGivern 6 Oakley 7.5 Wellens 7 King 6 Dyer 8 Fryatt 6 beautiful diving on grass, hope one day he will play in team Howard 6 O'Neill 6 Gallagher n/a
ousefox Posted 26 December 2009 Posted 26 December 2009 TV Weale 7 Looked solid except from a few balls in. Unlucky with the goal. Nielsen 7 Did everything that was needed from him. Morrison 8 Great performance and effort before his goal. He isn't a bad option at all from corners and would rather him start than Neilson anyday even if it is at RB. Hobbs 7 Solid while he was on. McGivern 6.5 Nothing special at all but did his job today. Oakley 7.5 Great delivery for once. Looked good today. Wellens 8 Showed his quality today with his long balls and his calm influence in the last few mins. King 7.5 Made a couple of important clearences and some good passes in the middle. Dyer 9 Best game he has ever had for us. Showed all his qualities and looked a handful throughout. Fryatt 8.5 Very suprised how well he played for us today. Some great skill on the ball and looked like he was willing to take people on. Good peno as well. Howard 6.5 Got a couple of flick-ons but not that impressed by him. O'Neill 6.5 Hard game for him to play in. Out of position in a dodgy defense. Did well considering.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 26 December 2009 Posted 26 December 2009 Fryatt, Weale, Wellens and Dyer by far our best players 8 each. Morrison 7.5 Oakley, King, Howard, Neilson 7 Rest 6 or less.

Anyway, at game: Weale 7- Good stop in second half, terrible on crosses today though Neilson 7 - Solid enough at the back, absolutely useless going forward Hobbs 7 - Did well other than shinning the ball out of play every time it came to him. Morrison 8 - Composed on the ball, well taken header but started to look shaky in the second period without Hobbs there to hold his hand. McGivern 7 - Got his head on a lot, but still made some wretched decisions. Oakley 7 - It's hard to believe that such an experienced player can be so inconsistent within just one match. Wellens 7.5 - All action, but at times a little careless in possession. King 8 -Would have been 8.5 if not for his solo mission to give Sheff U a last minute corner. Very tidy. Dyer 9 - When he's on form,he's very difficult to handle.Excellent. Howard 7- Won a lot but he's not quite mobile enough. Worked well with Fryatt today. Fryatt 8 - Good peno, great close control and worked his socks off. subs: O'Neil 6 - Not quite ready. Ref 1 - He's always shit.

RowlattsFox Posted 26 December 2009 Posted 26 December 2009 Match. Weale -7- HAs looked more secure than that but one very good save. Neilson -6- Solid-ish. Morrison -8- Excellent, what a effort and good header. Hobbs -7- As always got his foot in a lot but struggled a bit being on left side. McGivern -7- Feared the worst when I found out he was going centre back but he did well. Oakley -6.5- Really mixed bag today. Wellens -8- Good game. King -7- Kept the ball moving well. Dyer -8- Best game at this level, impressive. Thats what happens when he runs at people, wish he'd do it more often. Fryatt -8- Caused all sorts of problems whenever he had the ball, bit greedy as always but most goalscorers are. Howard -7- Won the battle with Morgan. O'Neill -6- didn't see the point bringing him on out of position when we have Berner sitting on the bench.
moseeds Posted 26 December 2009 Posted 26 December 2009 at game Weale 7 Decent game. Not sure why nearly all goal kicks end up with the opposition. Nielsen 7 Played ok but doesn't seem to have much understanding with Oakely. Many mix ups, not much attacking threat from right wing as a result. Played defence well Morrison 8 Excellent all round, goal scorer and stepped up in make shift back four. Hobbs 7 Solid but needs to improve distribution. Too many hoofs come straight back at us. After knock looked finished but credit in playing on. True soldier McGivern 6 Nearly all of united's attacks came down his side. They knew his weaknesses and exploited them. Other teams will most likely have noted this today if they haven't already. Oakley 6 Played ok but definitely not a captain's performance. Sloppy passing at times, poor positional play and rarely an attacking threat. Decent corners for once though. Wellens 7 some great passes, weird free kick. Did well as defensive cover in second half. Needs to get forward more often like King. King 7 Decent outing like wellens did well as defensive midfielder. Needs to take more shots on goal either from outside the box or by making runs into the box. No idea what he was doing at the end running the ball out of play for a corner. Dyer 9 MoM. But looked incredibly tired right at start of second half because of covering for mcgiverns lack of pace and poor defending. Our only proper winger and proper goal threat. Led the attack single handedly. Fryatt 7 Glad he scored. Selfish on few occasions. Lovely footwork. Plays very well with Dyer. Needs better service. Howard 6 Did well in patches but too slow on too many occasions. Asking for long balls just made sure the ball travelled back into city's half in double quick time. We play our best football on the floor which I believe Howard stuggles with due to his slow speed. Sheffield outplayed us for much of the game and we were lucky their finishing wasn't as good as the rest of their attacking play. Well done to city for grinding out a result. A lovely xmas present! O'Neill 6 Ok all things considered
CKB Posted 26 December 2009 Posted 26 December 2009 TV....HD (so i see more yes......) Weale 7. At times had a few "mares" maybe not the best i have seen him this season Nielsen 6. I thought he was partly to blame for there goal didn't seem alert enough! Overall ok... Morrison 7.5. Good game could have scored a tremendous goal but got his rewards for the shot that produced his goal! Hobbs 7. Seemed ok but then got injured! hope it's nothing to bad? McGivern 7. Yup did well imo! seemed pretty good in the air and covered ok for Hobbs! Oakley 7.5. I'm not the biggest Oakley fan but he impressed me more than he has done for along time tonight! he actually can cross a ball! Wellens 7.5. Solid good performance and could have scored a cracker if not for the bar! King 7. Solid aswell! Dyer 8. Very good game! that is the Dyer from old! lets hope we see more of that in the coming weeks/months ahead! Fryatt 8.2. My MOTM! he seemed up for it! took players on and he didn't frustrate me once during the game! and he usually does! Howard 7. Good solid performance and won alot in the air..WHICH he should O'Neill 6. Not his time yet!
Hitesh Posted 26 December 2009 Posted 26 December 2009 At the game... TV, sadly Weale 7 - Decent game, made one really good save and solid as usual. Nielsen 7 - Poor start and didn't make some good decisions to start off with but did recover in the second half. Morrison 9 - A very good performance. His movement and positioning was really good and thought he took control of the young defence well in the second half. Hobbs 8 Solid first half and was in control. McGivern 7 Needs to work a bit more on the left and did well in the second half Oakley 7 Good service but anonomous at times. Wellens 8 Good solid performance King 9 Well played, did his usual role in front of the defence well and really did well attacking. Dyer 9 Great game and had their defence running scared! Fryatt 9 Good game and caused their defence a lot of hassle - they wouldn't touch him in the area after the pen. Howard 7 Did well and thought he was hard done by on many occasions by the ref! O'Neill 5 Needs more time at this level/competitive football - struggled on the left but got his foot in on occasions which helped. Did ok in the cicumstances but would like to see him get game time in League 1.
Anish Posted 26 December 2009 Posted 26 December 2009 At the game, clearly watching another game to those who saw it on TV. Weale - 7 Neilson - 7 Hobbs - 8 (both he and Morrisson looked pretty comfortable in the first half, it all changed when he went off though) Morrisson - 8 (solid) McGivern - 6 (good in the air/rubbish on the deck) Dyer - 8.5 (faded in the second half but he was on fire in the first) King - 6.5 (didn't notice him at all until the end when he was p*ssing around trying to dribble out of the area and gave away a stupid corner) Wellens - 7.5 Oakley - 7.5 Fryatt - 8.5 (top performance, some of his dribbing was awesome) Howard - 7 (not mobile enough but his presence caused enough problems and he won a lot of headers) Subs: O'Neil - 6 (out of position and got skinned too often) Gallagher - NA

Anish Posted 26 December 2009 Posted 26 December 2009 Really? You've obviously heard of the saying, so stop being the n0b that you are and p*ss off.
Nick. Posted 26 December 2009 Posted 26 December 2009 Weale 8. Good saves and distribution. Neilson 7 Was shakey at the start, but solid after that Morrison 8 Solid Hobbs 7 Good job, hope he's not that badly injured. McGivern 8 Played well at CB, solid and good head. Didn't see him lose a header at all. Oakley 7 Good crosses and corners. Wellens 8 Set up plays and defended well when needed. King 6 He did ok. Dyer 9 Played well, looked a threat whenever he went forward. Fryatt 8 - Played well, good penalty. Howard 7.5 - Few good flick ons, took a beating for the team at times. Well done. O'Neill 4 - Not great, but is still young and playing on the opposite side of the field to his natural position. Can't judge him yet.
Captain... Posted 26 December 2009 Posted 26 December 2009 At the Game: Weale: 6.5 a few dodgy decisions and flaps at crosses but generally ok Nielsen: 6.5 Solid in defence and an enthusiastic committed player, terrible distribution and offered nothing going forward Hobbs: 7 Did well in the first half despite injury hope it's not serious Morrison: 8 Solid in defence, great shot, good goal best of the defence in terms of distribution. McGivern: 6.5 Offered little going forward at LB looked more comfortable at CB not having to worry about anything other than winning the ball. Oakley: 6.5 Average game inconsistant and wasteful at times. Needed to support Nielsen more and provide an easy outlet for him. Wellens: 7.5 Tried a few things that didn't come off but was always trying to create something King: 8 A lot more effective in the first half, broke up play well and distributed the ball simply and effectively Dyer: 9 Good to see someone running at players, creative, dangerous and some much needed pace. Good to have you back Lloyd Howard: 7.5 Held up the ball well, fed Fryatt and Dyer well and looked up for it today, faded in the second half Fryatt: Greedy, selfish, too many touches and doesn't take his chances, but I wouldn't change him for anyone 9 MOM O'Neil: 6 Struggled against a good right winger Pearson: 6 The correct starting line-up, but no tactical changes after half time. Why can't we see out games like this easily? Taking off one of Howard, Fryatt or Dyer for someone to sit a bit deeper help out the midfield allow King to drop back and sit in front of the back four, maybe switch to a 4-5-1 or even just to provide some fresh legs and energy when we are under pressure. Fans: 8 great atmosphere for the Walkers shame about the smell of sprouts and beer being expelled at regular intervals by the 3 gentlemen sitting in front of me. Sheff United fans: 3 Officials: 1

leicesterseddon Posted 26 December 2009 Posted 26 December 2009 At game. Weale - 8 Couple of very good saves and generally commanded the box well Neilson - 4 Our worst player. Again. Hobbs - 6 Was doing fine before he came off McGivern - 7 Not sure about this bloke, but did a good job under pressure at CB today Morrison - 7.5 Great game from him today. Epic shot too from outside the area Oakley - 5 Had a few decent challenges towards the end but useless for most of the game King - 6 Decent display Wellens - 7 Distribution today was very good Dyer - 8 most threatening player thoughout Fryatt - 7 Held the ball up well. Quality penalty Howard - 6 Few decent headers but not good enough to keep Waghorn out for Donny O'neill - 4.5 Was crap but he needs time Gallagher N/A Not really worth giving a rating for two minutes
orangecity23 Posted 26 December 2009 Posted 26 December 2009 At the game Weale 7 Solid, pulled off some nice saves in the second half. Neilson 6.5 Did well enough in defence, put in a good shift. Hobbs 7 Shaky first few minutes, then settled in nicely as both centre backs ended the first half well. Defence was all at sea when he went off. Morrison 8.5 Grew into the game throughout the first half, becoming dominant, awesome shot and a well deserved goal. McGivern 7 Didn't lose a header all night, got caught out a few times in first half, but did an admirable job as a makeshift centreback. Oakley 7 Worked hard, put some decent balls in from set pieces too. Still has an unfortunate tendancy to drift infield, then look to pass the ball to the oakley shaped hole on the right wing. King 7.5 Did a very good job shielding a vulnerable back 4 in the second half along with Wellens, kept possesion well as always. Wellens 7.5 Worked hard, won tackles, and sprayed a few quality passes too. Good performance all around. Dyer 9.5 He's here, he's there, he's every fooking where. Great game in attack and defence, and deserved his standing ovation. Fryatt 9 Movement and teamwork with Howard was top notch, caused loads of problems for Sheff U, nice penalty, not far from bagging a few more. Howard 7.5 Won all his flick ons, worked hard to close down and linked play very nicely indeed. Subs O'Neill 4 I need to find a home for all the kittens I had every time the ball came near him. Really got given a short straw, playing out of position against a dangerous opponent. He'll have better days though. Gallagher N/A

Captain... Posted 26 December 2009 Posted 26 December 2009 Howard - 6 Few decent headers but not good enough to keep Waghorn out for Donny Waghorn is still suspended, I think, but either way we play better with Fryatt and Howard in the team, he's not fit enough for the full 90, but I would start with those two up front and have Waghorn on the bench when he is back. Waghorn is a better player than Howard but Howard is a better partner for Fryatt and we are a better team with Howard on the pitch.

Ozwin Posted 26 December 2009 Posted 26 December 2009 To be fair it's been the best the Walkers has been in months. All teams home support is shit but we made an effort tonight, yeah after we scored but still, it was good to see. Their fans were abysmal. Must've sold nearly all their allocation and besides the one chant after our lot taunted them I didn't hear a peep for the rest of the game.

I was in SK4 and thought the atmosphere was pretty good, like I said a great atmosphere, for the Walkers. The abuse of Bunn was very amusing and the chanting was fairly consistent if not very widespread. Nothing like Filbo in years gone by, but a good atmosphere.
