davieG Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 With a few Premier/Big teams getting knocked out and more to follow Everton or Birmingham, Portsmouth or Sunderland, Stoke or Arsenal even the likes of Spurs or Leeds, WBA or Newcastle, Bolton or Sheff Utd it might be a year where a lower league team find themselves in the Semis at least. I know that many on here would sooner see us knocked out so as to concentrate on the league but in all reality the best we can hope for there is a play-off spot and you only need to finish top six to make them. If we're not capable of that and a decent run in the cup then I doubt we're good enough to win any play-offs. I for one am up for a decent cup run for the money and the glory.
Joe. Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 I love the competition, you only have to look how many memorable matches it's thrown up for us over the years. I don't buy all the concetrating on the league stuff anyway, I think you can balance the two comfortably even with a small squad like ours. The players at this level should always be up for going far in it when there's a chance to play one of the big sides. That's what's in it for us anyway.
Fosse Boy Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 If we were to win the Cup it would be the greatest triumphin our club's history. So it's a no brainer for me.
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 I remember the cup from yesteryear and how great it was. Sadly it has been devalued due to the Premiership. Perhaps if they gave the 4th place champions league spot to the winners it would become the great institution it once was. I personally want us to win every game we play but at the same time not at the expense of the League and a promotion push. f you gave me the choice of an FA Cup Final or a Play Off Final at Wembley in May I would go Play Offs every time. I would most probably give a different answer if there was a Champions League place at stake.
Wycombe Fox Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 I'll never forgive the FA Cup for losing us Tunchev
MPH Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 we'll lose in the Semi to another championship team. or lower. Bah Humbug@FA cup
Hitesh Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 I would love to see us go on a good cup run! Think it would be good for the team and the fans given the past few seasons we've had! And we haven't had a decent run in the FA Cup since THAT game which triggered the downward spiral...!
lou Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 Would be really happy to get to the Semis - the final would be amazing and winning it would be out of this world.... but its not gonna happen!
LCFC-ARAB Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 would do anything to win the FA cup then into Europe and then play against some random eastern european team away
Wycombe Fox Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 I'm just going to cross the fantasy/reality fence into the land of fantasy; Saturday 15th May FA Cup Final Leicester City v ? Saturday 22nd May Play-Off Final (and my birthday) Leicester City v ? Sh*t - slap me hard and take me back to reality!
Sods Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 Really wanted Bristol City away but can't see that happening now. If its Cardiff then bring it on.
Katy Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 I'd like to see us do as well as we can in the FAC, I don't see the harm in wanting to progress. Whether we get Bristol City or Cardiff, it's going to be a hard game and yet another away game to contend with.
Foxhateram Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 would do anything to win the FA cupthen into Europe and then play against some random eastern european team away I Love cup matches! There is nothing better then the banter with your glory supporting mates when city put on a good show VS there team such as Man u, Chelsea, Liverpool etc The looks on my friends faces when City beat spurs through that Mark De Vries Last minute winner and the embarrasment of the Chelsea fans when we we were beating them 3-2 in THAT match that Porter became Messi for the day! BUYING A TICKET £25, GETTING TO THE GROUND £40, WATCHING US PUT ON A GOOD SHOW VS A BIG TEAM PRICELESS! Bring on the cup!
Leicester Rule! Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 The Europa League would be amazing .....
Guest DavidJCW Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 Yeah, of course we should look to do well in the cup! If we could put a decent run together it'd be great as we haven't had any success in the cups for YEARS now. It might even be that extra confidence boost that the team needs just to see us onto the play-offs and further!
Corky Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 Absolutely- the Cup is special. The most gutted I've ever been after a match was when Wycombe beat us, I really felt we could win it that year. This cup will always be important, I'd love us to win it.

Couldn't agree more... that was a day to forget...
Foxhateram Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 Couldn't agree more... that was a day to forget... Please do not speak of this day. I remember having a conversation with my dad saying i have a really bad feeling about the future of city after that game. I am not sure why i had this feeling but seems my worst fears came true and we slwoly slipped further and further before the new god arrived. All hail NP!
Fox92 Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 I'm always up for it, the FA Cup is the greatest cup competition in the World (yes, it is better than the European Cup).
dandannieldanok Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 I'm up for the cup but I hate the semis being at Wembley.
maddog Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 If we can win our next round we have a great chance. Theres only Arsenal, Man City and Chelsea who i fear in the draw now, if we win our next round and get a couple of lucky draws we could find ourselves in the semis. And theres no guarantee they will all get through.
Matt Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 I'm up for it, Although it looks like a boring, atmosphereless, perfectly suited for the 'big 4' © fans, I just want a day out at Wembley! I wanted us to win the Johnstone's Paint Trophy last season for a day out at Wembley, we didn't, I am hoping for the play-offs for the experience and a day out at Wembley, and with only 2 of the 'big 4' © left in this competition it is arguably our best chance of going for in this competition since that horrible game v Wycombe all those years ago.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 14 January 2010 Posted 14 January 2010 I would love a good cup run! I really think if we can win the 4th round game we really have a chance of going somewhere in it. And if we do win the next round we might just (finally) get a good draw in the next round!
