SOCCERROO FOX Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 Just a simple poll as reading some peoples comments it maybe all they can understand. One word answer no fence sitting. From your opinions from before the first game of the season, do you believe we have overachieved or underachived up until this point in the season.
Fosse Boy Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 Overachieved by miles. You can't win 'em all chaps.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 27 January 2010 Author Posted 27 January 2010 Neither, I think we're achieving. No fence sitting Unless of course you predicted us to be on the exact amount of points, position from this many games.
lavrentis Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 Neither, I think we're achieving. I think he's right though, we earnt our place in the earlier part of the season because we got the points we did and which we deserved to get. I don't see how that is over achieving. Just like saying we didn't deserve to get relegated last time, although we did because we didn't get enough points. We deserve to be where we are, we're in a slump atm and thank fook we have Nige to sort it out.
ozleicester Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 Overachieved thus far. Come the end of the season, i see it as following 1st - 7th................. Overachieve 8th - 12th .............. As expected 12th - 19th ............. Underachieve 19+ ........................ Just give it away

Matt Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 We've overachieved but now should we finish mid-table (My aim and expectation pre-season) it will feel like we have undera...not underachieved exactly but I will be quite disappointed, but like I said in the post match thread last night, If we do end up finishing mid-table it will be a blessing in disguise, as I think as much as I/we want to finish in the play-offs spot what's the point? We'd want to ultimately win the play-offs which means promotion to the Premiership, We wouldn't last 5 minutes in the Premiership, We'd get hammered, We'd 'do a Derby', and it'd do more damage then good for us.
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 Perhaps this would be better to visit in a month. We have done well in the early part of the season but that feel good factor is rapidly declining at the moment. 3 defeats in a row albeit 1 was in the cup. Another 2 or 3 on the spin and we would be in to freefall. If this happens then I can guarantee that quite a few peoples opinions will change as we won't even be in the top 10 by then. In one way we have over achieved as I did not expect us to be around the play offs at this point in the season but there is a long way to go and I do not believe our current squad is any better than last season in fact I would say it is worse. There does not seem to be any creativity in the side. I would say we are in a false position at the moment and we will be lucky to finish in the top 12. If that means to some we have over achieved then you have my sympathies to your lack of ambition for your team especially as we have been in the play offs all season.
Pricey Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 Neither, I think we're achieving. I'd agree, definitely not underachieving.
Criggers Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 To say "neither, we are achieveing" doesn't really cut it to me. The point is that on looking on paper before the start of the first game of the season, to be 8th now is probably more than most people expected. I certainly wouldn't have said much higher than 10th-14th come the end of January. Also, to say we are simply "achieving" means absolutely nothing. By that definition the last time we were in the Championship we "achieved" relegation. To be where we are in the league at this moment in time is good going, we just need to turn this little slump around and we will easily be in with a shout of the play-offs. Also, anyone that says promotion would do more harm than good is daft. We wouldn't "do a Derby" because unlike them we wouldn't give up in October. And ultimately, you never ever know what might happen. I'm sure if we beat Newcastle this Saturday then we will be over-achieving, and if we lose it will be relegation form.
davieG Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 Over achieved points /position wise ever more under achieving as the season progresses performance wise. As individuals and as a team we are by any measure not currently playing to our full potential, whether doing so would have brought us more points I don't know but it sure would be more entertaining to watch - Stringing 3 passes together is better than 2!
markbsac Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 we will end up mid table...and safe from the drop....1st season back that would have done me before a ball was kicked this season !
Fatbloke Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 What morons are saying we've underachieved?! Don`t call me a moron, boy, if we`re basing this question on our predictions pre season then we are currently 3 or 4 points adrift of what I had in mind, which was play offs.
davieG Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 Don`t call me a moron, boy, if we`re basing this question on our predictions pre season then we are currently 3 or 4 points adrift of what I had in mind, which was play offs. You're always so negative
Fatbloke Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 You're always so negative Guilty as charged millud
dandannieldanok Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 Tough to call really, ok we've definitely overachieved position wise but as for the type of football we play and the way Pearson sets up the team then there have been no suprises and we've certainly done no more than I expected us to do.
Bluefoxtim Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 Overachieved, yet we've shown signs that we are capable.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 We have overachieved but by May time I expect us to now finish in a place where were all expected. Somewhere around midtable. We have been found out and teams know what to expect from us, maybe this is the reason why Kermo is being played as he is unknown by other teams but it jsut isnt working. Changes need to be made, and after the start we had I will be very dissapointed if we dont finish around the playoffs.
lildave3 Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 Don`t call me a moron, boy, if we`re basing this question on our predictions pre season then we are currently 3 or 4 points adrift of what I had in mind, which was play offs. Well I think that's incredibly ambitious and perhaps naive.
Zingari Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 put it this way , if we were a horse in the Grand National in this position, and jumping beechers for the 2nd time ,, i wouldn't be throwing my betting slip away just yet
Guest Mee-9 Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 We are capable. But we've overachieved my predictions. I can't complain. We've lost to good sides! Newcastle, Preston, WBA, Forest, Bristol City, Swansea, Barnsley (Ain't counted cup games) This isn't bad. Is it. 2 teams from the Premiership, 2 teams we've beat at the walkers this season already, Forest who have exceeded everyones expectations, Bristol City and Barnsley. (Maybe these are the two real results, we should of done better in) But theres no reason to panic. I know we've drew quite a few. My view is that the playoffs are a reasonable target still. We've got a game in hand, win that and were nearly back on par. But I think that even if we didn't get the playoffs i wouldn't be disappointed, It would be a real mess if we went up to the premier. I would rather have another season, to build or maybe prepare for the premiership.
Thracian Posted 27 January 2010 Posted 27 January 2010 Just a simple poll as reading some peoples comments it maybe all they can understand. One word answer no fence sitting. From your opinions from before the first game of the season, do you believe we have overachieved or underachived up until this point in the season. Underachieved. I expected our summer signings to improve our performance and start to provide us with the foundations of a side to take us forward to the Premiership either this season or next. But that has not been the case. Our team has not improved at all. In fact there are signs that it is getting worse and whichever's the case, there are still glaring and permanent weaknesses and limitations that there is no signs of us rectifying. Pearson has had plenty of time to overcome some if not all of our worst problems but it hasn't happened. To give the simplest instance our free-kicks and corners - a problem even back to the time of Kelly and Levein - are still laughable with precious little imagination and lamentable delivery. Other problems are equally unresolved. I see nothing in our team to excite me for the future and despite the points accumulated from our predicted cagey and unimaginative approach, Ithing that represents underachievement in capital letters.
