glennthefox Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 Seems slightly odd that my first proper post should be back of a 0-0 stalemate. But we made a very good Newcastle team look completley ordinary, bordering on clueless, tonight. 10 men since 30 mins, and if you'd walked in half way through, you'd be none the f-ing wiser (can you swear on here?....****) With Berner back for that hapless albino, brown putting in a suprisingly commanding performance, and a recalled fryatt (why the hell do we drop this lad?) showing flashes of class, we looked the difference between mid-table layabouts and playoff contenders. The ref was awful too.. handballs, inconsistent decisons, they were wearing a f-ing deck chair for a kit, how'd ya miss that ffs? Fryatt wonder goal denied too. Gutted. Pub now to tell that notts rabble how good we were. l8s x
Guest Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 Brilliant, best performance since QPR without a doubt. Actually thought we were the better side by a fair margin throughout even with 10 men. Can't fault any player, passion and pride in abundance. Well played lads
Tilley Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 What a cracking performance by 10 men, absolutely brilliant. Morrison, Hobbs, Brown & Berner (THANK THE FUCKING LORD HE IS BACK) were outstanding. Fryatt should have had one, maybe two. Also, LEICESTER FANS.. SINGING?!
Candidcamera Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 That was a brilliant point. Shame the team had to change shape with Howard coming on. We are much better without him. I hope we start the next game with the same 11. Wellens out of course so give Solano a chance. It felt like a win.
Anish Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 Wellens deserved to be sent off. First challenge was reckless, second challenge prevented their counter-attack and didn't even need to be made as we had players covering. If the boot was on the other foot and a Newcastle defender had pulled back our player running past him we would've been crying out for a yellow. The referee had no choice. It was a stupid thing to do. That said, it was a battling performance and we actually looked better with 10 men than 11. Fryatt should've buried that chance or at least laid the ball across the box. We should've had 2 penalties and had other half chances. Defensively we were solid and Bruno made a big difference at left back.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 Winger less wonders - you see it can work! And I think you saw why Gallagher is stuck out on the wing, he's a clever little player and offers a bit of gile.
Ozwin Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 Fantastic performance, why can't be play like that every week?! 4-5-1 every week plz too, worked so well. Also Fryatt's Maradona would have been goal of the season. Incredible stuff from before the half way line.
BoneDog Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 Well that was a pretty great match. Very entertaining but I was a bag of nerves for the last 20 minutes. We had the better of the game for 60 minutes with Newcastle probaly having the best of the first 10 and last 20 minutes. We deserved to come away with 3 points after that performance but I'm quite satisfied with 1 point especially after Wellens got sent off. I bet Fryatt is upset at not scoring after his magnificent run, very unlucky and if he had scored, that goal would have been talked about for years to come! I was buzzing just from seeing his turn inside our half, quality stuff, and then he kept on running at them and did a couple of beautiful feints and was unlucky not to score. The last dummy/feint thingybob he did before shooting was straight out of the attackers textbook. It was a world class piece of football from Fryatt and if I was a manager I would be on the phone with a £4million bid straight after the final whistle. I agree with the folks who think the ref had a shocker. He missed 2, maybe 3 pens for us, one of which was blatant. He also should of booked the Newcastle player who did the flying kick in the bollocks or thigh of one of our players just before Berner got booked I think it was. I thought Waghorn should of got a penalty when he was shoved under his armpit to the left of the goal at the Kop end. The Newcastle guy pushed him from the side and Waghorn was too strong so the Newcastle guy went down. How we didn't get a pen from Gallaghers fine free-kick I'll never know. Carroll had his arm in front of his face before Gallagher even hit it, and then he moved his arm further up. Joke referee decision. I'm a bit gutted that Morrison didn't get chance for one of his 40 yard rocket shots but overall very happy

Gally played more central after Wellens got sent off (Deserved), and that's when he came into his own. Great performance by the lads. Only one negative. Lloyd fooking Dyer.

Guest DavidJCW Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 Great effort! Was a great performance with 10 men against the league leaders ('avin' a laugh!) and although I would have liked to have seen some of our moves forward end with a shot at least, it was still a fighting display and we deservedly got a point... though it could have been 3. Keep it up lads!!!
Ozwin Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 You don't bring Dyer on when you're being cautious, he's not a defensive minded player and some of his headers almost gave them shots from outside the box. Bring him on when you're chasing, not against a team like Newcastle who are always gonna have oppertunities.

Never mind they all did well
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 And on the 7th day, at about 11:59pm, the lord made Bruno Berner. And he saw that he was good. Although he was a lucky chappy, and could have handed us a further McGivern/Powell showing the very next game.
lcfc_jme Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 I was delighted with that performance and thought we played exceptionally well, were well worth the point, and perhaps unlucky not to get the 3 points. But what the hell do I know? I thought we played at home and actually attacked a lot, which is wrong according to those at the Beeb.. Battling Leicester played for an hour with 10 men to earn a hard-fought draw against Championship leaders Newcastle.Richie Wellens was dismissed after 30 minutes, receiving a second yellow card for a foul on Wayne Routledge. Patrick Van Aanholt had the home side's best chance, but Foxes keeper Chris Weale tipped his shot around the post. Alan Smith, Andy Carroll and Kevin Nolan also all went close with headers while at the other end Steve Harper made a fine save from Matty Fryatt. Martyn Waghorn also fired wide during a rare away attack but Nigel Pearson's side were forced to defend for large periods to gain their point. But despite the disappointment of failing to win, the point extends Newcastle's unbeaten league run to 14 matches and sees Chris Hughton's side stretch their lead at the top of the table to four points. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/e...v_1/8483774.stm
Guest Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 What did Wellen's bookings look like on the TV? I thought the first was harsh and the second a joke.Any way great match Newcastle looked really poor. I thought the same. In fact, we must have been the only people in L1 to have seen the first booking! I am so proud tonight. If I wasn't already married, I would want to marry Michael Morrison. He was immense today, and this season he has just got better and better with every game. I thought that played well, we passed the ball around nicely, and we could and should have won that, but I am happy with the point after the referee's display. Respect? Respect my arse.
Daggers Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 I would want to marry Michael Morrison. You'll have to get in line.

There was no need for Wellens to put his hand on the guys shoulder, Hobbs was coming in to sort out the situation I think. I'm sure Wellens realises his mistake though and hopefully he makes up for his mistake with some good performances when he comes back in. I would love to of heard what Pearson was saying to him when he came back and sat on the bench cos it looked like they were having words!
Fox You Forest Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 Cracking effort by all today but especially the back four, lets hope Brown can maintain the kind of performance he put in today. Pleased for Gallagher too hopefully the kick start he needed. Bruno Bruno!
Ricey Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 Wellens deserved to be sent off, a lot of people who went to the game seem to be blaming the ref but the replays clearly showed that the first challenge was a disgrace. Good performance from the remaining 10, they gave everything.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 The back four were a credit. Excellent. The side seems changed, A spirited team, who after that, doubters could believe, if we play with the same mentality, and class, We'll be in playoffs pretty soon. WATCH THIS SPACE

Yeah but the ref made some dreadful decisions! The one on Waggy, when some pillock lunged him? All we got was a throw in? The referee was appauling! Got the crowd going abit tho!

Pearson gave him a gentle pat on the thigh so it wasnt anything too harsh
