Wellens must be braindead, because to hack Routledge down in that position having already been booked was so stupid, a definite 2nd yellow 100%, wreckless challenge.

Other than that quite frankly an amazing performance, the best home one i have seen in years.

Heroic defending, everyone of the four worthy of MOTM, fantastic.

Had McGivern played we would have definitely lost this game, Berner saved us on several occasions, Morrison was fooking awesome and to come from Blue Square to playing top class Championship football in such a short time is actually incredible.

Brown gave nothing away and was so fooking solid all game with his heading, Hobbs also was class at times, Weale looked shaky at times but he was rarely troubled, a couple of good saves i think.

And shock. Matt Oakley charging around the midfield closing everything down, there was one crazy moment as the fans all cheered proudly and watched in shock at the tackling the players were putting in and the closing down. Passion, commitment, and genuine class. It was fantastic when Waghorn, Gallagher and Oakley all chased down and dived in with tackles. Amazing.

Fryatt did a Lionel Messi run, the Argentine would have been so proud of that, skinning his man near the halfway line near the sideline, and running down the line, before cutting inside going past man after man, trickery, sexy classic football to give him a almost certain goal. Had he put that away it would have 100% been goal of the season in the Championship for me.

Had Rooney done that there would be so much bumming.

We hassled, hustled, bustled, we played Newcastle off the park for the majority of the match even with 10 men. Quick passing, pace, high tempo, great movement.

Howard was totally fooking useless though and should be sold on a free if possible in the window. Solano made a few decent passes but had little time. Dyer defended well but Newcastle restricted him.

Awesome though, fooking awesome. We deserved 10 points for that performance. Fantastic atmosphere near L1, faith restored in LCFC, bring on Blackpool.

COme on!!!

That challenge on Waghorn that sent him flying deserved a booking, I don't care if he got the ball he could have done some right damage. Then 10 seconds later Bruno gets booked for a nothing tackle, fooking joke referee. Where do they find them, and why do we always get them?!

You'll have to get in line.

I don't think he's into Civil Partnerships.

Yeah but the ref made some dreadful decisions!

The one on Waggy, when some pillock lunged him? All we got was a throw in? The referee was appauling! Got the crowd going abit tho!

...if you watch the replay though Taylor won the ball fairly but clattered Waghorn in doing so, nothing wrong with that.

Them fools in the Executive boxes above c2 with their tops off. :D

Could of swear Mike Ashely was their with his Manboobs knocking himself out.

Always said Andy Caroll was a Gyppo, and over-rated.

Looked like a kung-fu kick from where I was (C1)

Were we playing a traditional 4-5-1, or was it more like a 4-2-3-1, with King and Wellens sitting in, letting Gallagher, Oakley and Waghorn roam? If so, I think that's a very good formation for us and can only pray we take it in to our next game...

I feel exactly the same, means we can accomodate all our midfielders and Oakley has some use as an AMC. He had his best game of the season today.

quite simpley class tonight!!!

the whole team put in a shift and worked together, no doubt we would have stuffed them with 11 (cheers ref, you joker)

fryatt would of had goal of the season me thinks with that messi/maradona esq run

great performance, up the foxes!!

That was the one major mistake the ref made.

He should have sent Berner off though but must have felt bad about Wellens been sent off.

Berner did a awful tackle having been booked infront of us and somehow got away with it :giggle:

If only Fryatt could put away his chances!

Wellens deserved to be sent off. First challenge was reckless, second challenge prevented their counter-attack and didn't even need to be made as we had players covering. If the boot was on the other foot and a Newcastle defender had pulled back our player running past him we would've been crying out for a yellow. The referee had no choice. It was a stupid thing to do.

similar thing happened in the second half, the foul for that free kick of gallaghers that was handled, gallagher skipped past the lad, who tripped him and got away without even a booking despite the fact the gallagher would have been clean through if the lad hadn't tripped him.

with the way he got him from where i was if the lads left foot was a couple of cm to the right or vice versa he could have caught waggy square in the back, which could easily paralyze someone

that doesn't matter, he came through the back of waggy and could have caused serious damage which kinda makes the "he got the ball" arguement redundant. The challange WAS dangerous and he SHOULD have been sent off.

Was a wonderful run but he should have laid it off to the totally free Waghorn in the centre who would have buried it! Never mind they all did well :thumbup:

I've seen the replay about 6 times and I can't say I've even noticed anyone else's position yet! I must of been totally mesmerised by Fryatts run :D Next time I see it I'll make sure to check cos normally I'm the first one to moan if a player misses a pass to someone in a clear postition on goal!

I think that if it was a winger who had gone on that run they would of thought about passing but his striker instinct must of taken over and once he got into the box he didn't think of anything else but scoring. It really is a shame nothing came of that move, it deserved a goal.

Still buzzin about this game, I think I enjoyed it more than QPR overall even though it's only 1 point. It's nice to have at least a few days of happy Leicester feelings, makes a change just lately. The confidence of a possible play-off challenge is back :D

Newcastle didn't look much though did they?

Hughton's tactics were dreadful. Why play a tall gyppo, Who's only really good with his head, against Hobbs and Brown? Pancrate = Waste of cash, And for Collacini (Or however it's spelt) 10million? Oh dear.

Great spirit and commitment from the players today, and some real quality too. We were very good and would have won with 11 men. The defenders were strong as a unit, coinciding with Berner's welcome return, and the midfielders and attackers worked well in making us a solid unit. I was very skeptical when the team news filtered through but fair play to Pearson he picked the right team for the job. Newcastle were dogshite, as bad as when Derby came, their fans were mute aswell.

Amazing battling performance by 10 men.

I would also like to take the opertunity to applaud the Ref... Absolutley fantastic performance, not a mistake in sight. Wellens fully cropped the hell out of Routledge... :glare: <_<

Of course the referee had a choice. If every player was sent off who grabbed a player's shirt in situations as dangerous as that there wouldn't be a defender left on the field of most matches by half-time.

Pearson gave him a gentle pat on the thigh so it wasnt anything too harsh lol

lol Another thing I missed! At the time when he had his back to the pitch I imagined Pearson telling him he was a twat.

I think mine and Pearsons managerial skills are on a different level cos I would of been giving him a gentle pat round the earhole and saying "right, now don't do it agian" (like that Roman soldier on The Life of Brian where he catches Bry doing the graffitte) :D

How the hell do you spell gra-fee-tee?!

And I thought I'd actually comment on Brown cause today was about the first time I actually rated him! He was outstanding at the back... in fact the entire back line was outstanding. Solid, good heading, pretty decent spreading of the ball... brilliant.

The challenge was nothing more than a hand on the shoulder, no pulling no nothing. Pearson knew it even if our resident halfsharps missed it. Crap card.

Wedding. :D

Effort, application, commitment - these are three things which pay/want and we had them. Brilliant.

The refs inconsistent was his downfall - Gallacher one on one outside the box, no booking. Lunge by Smith in the midst of some scrappy play when we took a quick free kick, no booking. Berner's bite at Routledge, no booking.

As for Wellens' sending off, yeh he was daft but ask anyone whose played football...when you think you can win the ball, you do things. I pushed some bloke over on Thursday night down 5-a-side...it costs us long run peno but just did it cos I did.

Big match report

Great post, reminded me of the feelings back in the O'Neill days!

Bit harsh on Howard though! I haven't been able to go much this season but surely Howard is still a good player to have around :dunno: If we try to play football instead of just hoof, hoof, hoof I think he can still be a strong player. If we are playing football and getting crosses in instead of hoofing 60 yard balls maybe he can still do the job. And if Solano can start whipping in some classy free-kicks and corners then Howard will score goals.

By the way, Where did 11 shots off target, and 6 on target for newcastle come from? :P
