Salieri Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 Fantastic effort, very proud of the lads tonight.
MikeyT Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 Really entertaining game to watch. Very proud of the lads tonight. Gave their all and more. The back 4 were immense. Bring on the next game. Can't wait.
Simi Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 Every one of the back four were fooking awesome. Battling performance and like others, very proud.
casablancas Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 Quite simply an amazing performance, everyone fought for the team. Morrison is looking like a real class act, he was so impressive still can't believe where he has come from. Well down big Wayne he got his head and body to everything and anything...please don't try and pass though Fryatt put in a real sift and Gallagher looked impressive tonight !
ousefox Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 Great, spirited performance which we probably deserved to get more than a point. So nice to have a strong left back as well!
lavrentis Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 Won't be as many teams as good as Newcastle and if we play like that how we did with 10 men, Nobby and Bruno back, can't see why we shouldn't challenge for playoffs.
purpleronnie Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 Good performance, the league is so close I dont see why we cant make the playoffs, the standard of the league is pretty poor anyone can beat anyone. Which is a good thing....for us.
EmLeee Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 So why can't we play like that every time? Glad to see Bruno back
Salieri Posted 30 January 2010 Author Posted 30 January 2010 Doubt we'll see much of the doom merchants tonight. I'm struggling to find any negativity out of that performance, apart from being critical of Wellens for getting himself sent off. The defence were utterly brilliant. It was so good to see Berner back, Brown back to his best and Morrison, well, he has the makings of becoming a top defender. Oakley and King battled hard in the centre, making up for the loss of Wellens. Gallagher looked far better in the centre, Waghorn was lively and Fryatt showed glimpses of real quality. If we can show that sort of togetherness and to be fair it wasn't all honest endeavour, we showed a bit of class at times, then there's no reason why we can't hang around the play off area for the duration. Crisis? What crisis?
Daggers Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 Robbed. Two nailed on penalties, Wellens should never have had the second yellow and I thought Newcastle were a bag of arse. Stunning display from 10 men. But, if you are going to be picky, Solano is 30 seconds behind the game. He is used to the slower pace of Latin footy and was caught out more than once dallying on the ball. I hope he gets up to speed quickly. Could anyone hear Newcastle sing? I couldn't hear a fucking thing.
Thracian Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 Had City played with today's team and with today's endeavour they wouldn't have let their travelling fans down at Oakwell and they might have been back in the play-off positions tonight. For an hour 10 heroic men played Newcastle this way and that. And when they lost the ball they harried with an urgency that ensured it was soon recovered. Far from ruining the game as I expected Wellens' sending off sounded the fanfares for City that heralded a determination to survive that wouldn't have shamed an SAS team. Quite why City didn't get a penalty from Gallagher's free-kick when a defender raised his arms towards the ball and deflected it to safety with his elbow I don't know. It was further argument for the use of replays. They might even have had another shout when a near-post header by Andy King was stopped going goalwards with an arm. But the moment of the match - and it could have been one of the best I've seen in football was when Fryatt cut in from the left, beat three men in a mazy dribble and, after a final dummy, had the goal at his mercy only to be somewhat cramped by Waghorn which meant his pulling his shot narrow and into a defender. Had the ball gone in it would have been the goal of a lifetime and just reward for his efforts to breach the visiting defence. What a difference Berner and Kingy made in glueing together our recently leaking and laborious defence. Even with a man advantage Newcastle hardly rang a single alarm bell - not even in the last 10 minutes when they finally gained territorial advantage as we ran out of the steam to defend higher up. The cameo debut of Solano offered further encouragement on a day of pluses. In his brief appearance he made two or three classy contributions to show that he really can place a ball on a sixpence. Mind you he'll have to show far more urgency in defence where he looked about as useful as Sean Newton of yesteryear at first glance. Well done City. It was as gutsy a 0-0 as you'll ever see and one where, had it been judged on points, I'd had credited the game to City by some way. As for the sending off of Wellens it was technically correct but spiritually innocuous. Fairly booked for a rash challenge he later gave a something and nothing pull on an opponent's shirt in a harmless position near the middle of the park. Berner, later, survived what looked like a much more justified sending off and Brown was later shown to be virtually arm-wrestling a striker without being penalised at all. There was just no consistency. For all that Wellens seemed to get a talking to from Pearson and if so, quite right. It was a silly thing to do and it left his team-mates with a double shift they, thankfully, seemed to relish.
MrSpaM Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 We may not have won, but thats one of the best performances from our team this season. Everyone played like they were proud to be a Leicester player. Morrison had the game of his leicester career, and for once Oakley looked half decent Starting with Fryatt and Waghorn looked very promising too. Against a big club, and against the ref for the whole of the first half we showed we are a decent squad. Foxes never die...
colbo68 Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 Fantastic effort, very proud of the lads tonight. great effort and commitment - Brown got man of the match because he likes playing against a couple of big lads up top - its the quick strikers he cant handle. Shame that Wellens was such a twat to get himself sent off in front of nancy-boy Andre Marriner. Still not scored in the league this year though.... gotta laugh at Pearson's after match interview on SKY - hehe he comes across as soooo fookin borin - still, good result given the sendin off

I couldn't hear a fucking thing. Pretty much sums up everything I've thought. The referee's performance made a mockery of the idea of this being a Respect fixture. An absolutely appalling performance from start to finish, and how anybody could defend his showing is beyond me. He was to officiating what Robbie Neilson has been to precision passing. Wellens should never have been sent off in a million years and the penalties were indeed nailed on. Newcastle got a point more than they deserved today, make no mistake about it. We passed the ball well, looked hungry for the ball when we did lose it and didn't give Newcastle any time on the ball whatsoever, and how they looked rattled by it. The fact that we can consider ourselves robbed of a win today having been forced to play with 10 men against a team that looks all but certain to win this division shows how well we've played and how much potential there is in this side when we play in the right way. My feelings? A mixture of pride and happiness at the performance of our team, but tinged with a distinct feeling of being robbed by one of the worst referees to take charge of a Leicester game this season.
lovelcfc Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 Hi absolutely fantastic result tonight. effort was brilliant they played realy well if we would of played like that aganst barnsley we would of won easily but point today great result
MrSpaM Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 Has anyone else seen the bbc report of the game? their making out like Newcastle were unlucky not to win and had most the chances, in actual fact we played them off the park for most the game.
Webbo Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 What did Wellen's bookings look like on the TV? I thought the first was harsh and the second a joke. Any way great match Newcastle looked really poor.

I thought he had a decent game. If anything we were lucky not to go down to 9 men when Berner took out Routledge in the second half. Sure we should have had a penalty but I can not think of any other decision he got wrong.
Liamlcfc1 Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 now thats more like it from City please play like that for the rest of the season
ousefox Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 What did Wellen's bookings look like on the TV? I thought the first was harsh and the second a joke.Any way great match Newcastle looked really poor. Personally, the first was definately a yellow (commentators were talking shite when they were saying it could have been red) and the second seemed a bit harsh and most of the time you wouldn't see him booked.
easilee Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 Awsome performance! First to most tackles and open balls. Solid defence. Even Brown had a good game! It does make me a bit vexed that we can' t do this week in week out out. When i used to play many moons ago, the man in charge wanted nothing but commitment to challenges, and the feeling that you wanted to be there and win the ball. We saw that today, and we will benefit hugely if we can do this week in week out. BTW, shouldn't FoxesTalk be at it's quietest DURING a Leicester match? It seems that most newer members are too worried about how their views sound DURING the match, rather than actually listening/watching the game and providing a reasonable after-match analysis. still, UP THE CITY. Today's game gives me much hope

The second was nothing short of a fucking joke.
DanTheFox07 Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 Just wanna say how proud I am of the lads today and disappointed in wellens let himself and the club down when we were on top.
lou Posted 30 January 2010 Posted 30 January 2010 Every one of the back four were fooking awesome. Battling performance and like others, very proud. Totally agree, proud as punch! Back 4 were indeed, immense, midfield worked very hard a man down, Gally ran his socks off and Oakley was much improved. Ended up a bit gutted we didnt win when I was expecting to get hammered before the game Ref was a lot better 2nd half but terrible 1st half. Thought the fans were great too today..
