Jeez - Hiller just gave me another near-heart attack. Luckily enough, the horn had already gone. So after 40 minutes and two thirds played, still 0-0.

Great team effort by the Swiss so far.

Now if we just get that one goal.

I don't know whether I'd survive another penalty shootout... lol

Better than the men throwing the wrong coloured stone to lose the match!

lol I love how the commentators tried to go along with it as if they knew right from the start he'd done that.

And what the hell were the Norwegian's wearing?!

Also, anyone see the Canadian ice hockey player whose shot went through the net?!

If it hadn't been for Zach Parise,... tongue.png

Well, just like I said at the beginning of the hockey tournament - we simply didn't have the offensive firepower that other nations do possess.

lol An ASBO for the skip... why, what did she do? :ermm:

She broke her brush and was generally stroppey!

What, when, which match? Think I'd like to see a clip of this!

It's on BBC :)

Norway vs England. They were allowed to swap it though straight away with their red stone.

The GB curling team lose on an extra end, so are eliminated

The 1st bobsleigh team crashes out, and the 2nd bobsleigh team does absolutely crap.

All hopes of anymore medals are surely gone now.

Hockey time...

It took the USA a long time to break through, but they did the job against the Swiss. Phew! I'm thrilled that we're in the medal round.

Oh, and btw, the sleeping giant has awaken: Canada handed Russia a vicious beating tonight. Seriously, if this were a boxing match, it'd have been a 1st-round TKO. Wow. This one's going to send shockwaves through the Russian hockey world. That was a stunning performance. I'm sure I can add more superlatives, too. Suddenly, nobody is talking about Sunday night's loss to the USA.

Finland-Czech Rep. are locked in a scoreless tie after 2 periods... the winner gets the USA in the semis. I'm pulling for Finland because the USA and the Finns have had some big battles in recent years and our boys still have a few scores to settle. Sweden-Slovakia is later, and I think the unfancied Slovaks are better than many people think, and will give the defending champs a scare--I'll see if I can DVR that one and watch it in the morning.

Womens Aerials second after the first jump go Lydia

Brilliant win especially beating the Chinnese after the verbal fighting between the 2 countries in this Sport.

Even sweeter the way the chinnese girl fell after replicating the jump Lydia has made famous.

Hope Vålerenga won't moan about Norway's results in the slalom competition today. Silver and Bronze for the Nørge Bøys.

definitely not - svindal got his gold earlier, and karlsrud skied so well he desreved nothing less than silver - yes the 1-2 would have been nice but the winner was faultless, so fair play.

you could tell it was more than karlsrud had ever dreamed of :D

good performances for bronzes and silvers a plenty - just poor in the skijumping, really.

still in with a shout for a curling gold, not sure what else is left now tho.

i felt a bit sorry for the swiss in the hockey, wasn't it like 40-14 in shots at one point, brave performance - i guess i fancy a canada vs sweden final there...

Would've been nice - but Sweden got axed by Slovakia. Surprise of the tournament so far - on par with the USA win against Canada.

You mean Jansrud :giggle:

Not that surprising again. The Slovaks have a very good team, especially the first chain. Having said that, they will never have played a more fortunate match in their lives. They got trounced, but thanks to good fortune and amazing sharpness they managed to score 4 goals with just 14 shots! Finland beating the Czechs was a big surprise too. It's Canada's for the taking now...

ha, dammit - i knew i shouldn't have tried to rely on my memory... karlsrud is a suburb of oslo...oops. i knew i hadn't just made it up

anyway, back to the gold medals, another destructive performance in the cross country, marit bjørgen taking her 3rd gold of the games, incredible stuff...

but a crap showing in the nordic combined again.

She was just called the "queen of the Vancouver Olympics" by commentators on NBC here in the U.S., and that tag is most appropriate. If I'm not mistaken, Bjørgen will also race in the 30km, and at this point, who'd bet against her taking another medal?

Men's curling semifinals and women's hockey gold medal game starting soon... time to get an early dinner ready and watch. The weather outside here is most appropriate for Winter Games time :)

she made the last leg of the team event look easy...

3 golds and a bronze, and maybe another as you say in the 30km, very very special.

I was following the race at work, and then saw the final few minutes on tape delay at home. IIRC she took the anchor leg with the slightest of leads and then cruised to the finish, giggling, holding a Norwegian flag and then hopping over the finish line... Dominant.

pretty much, the same as northug did to get his gold - the thing with some of the norwegians is when they know they have a chance they give 100%, when they sense it is unlikely the do tend to throw in the towel - but i shouldn't really say that as they have been, generally, phenomenal, and i think along with the swiss have shown some of the bigger countries that you can achieve anything with a bit of talent and a lot of commitment.

no, problems with the swiss in the curling in the end, which means at least a gold or a silver.

That was shockingly bad. Maybe it's because I've been watching a lot of the men's hockey, but the pace and especially the stick-handling ( ) was just so poor.

The way the Canadians have been playing, it's looking more like silver. They were phenomenal against the Swedes.
